I accidentally switched from a standard password to using
MSN Passport and for a few days thought that it was ok,
but now I want revert back to having a regular password
protected file.

When I go into disable MSN Passport, it gives me the
following error: "Money cannot complete your Microsoft
Passport change, possibly because of problems with your
internet connection. Please disconnect from the Internet,
reconnect and try again."

I have never seen anything so stupid, but I tried that
and it seems to not make any difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using Money 2004 on XP Home edition.

Thanks!

You will need to sign into Passport through Money to remove the passport
from the Money file.

Thanks for your response, Glyn.
I'm sorry, I don't quite follow. Here's what I am doing:
I sign into Money using my passport. Then I go to File-
>Password Manager and I attempt to disable passport, but
it doesn't work (gives me the error I described below).

I am ready to give up and go back to Quicken (I received
MSMoney with my new desktop and it was able to convert my
Quicken file, so I was intrigued, and impressed. But this
is terrible - and Microsoft Support aren't wiling to help
for free because this is an OEM edition of the product.
I've been a Quicken user since 1994 and have never had
such a problem.)

If someone can help me (detailed instructions), that'd be
much appreciated.

Thanks,

If you don't find a better way, convert your Quicken file again.
This time do not provide a Passport.
