Has anyone successfully done this? Please tell all of us how. I'm running
XP pro, 512 Mg memory, 80 Gb HD, with 40 Gb free disk space. Nothing works
when trying to convert.

TIA

Need a bit more information about what you mean by "Nothing works". What
error messages; what happens that you didn't expect; how far down the
conversion process etc etc.

Bob,

Here is the message.
Your Quicken file could not be converted.

Money could not convert your Quicken file. You might have run out of disk
space or system memory.Try closing other programs and making sure the disk
you are copying your file to has enough space. Then try converting the file
again.

I'm running XP pro, 512 Mg memory, 80 Gb HD, with 40 Gb free disk space. I
use the Converter Wizard for Quicken. It gets through about 80% of the
process (according to the completion bar) and then the above message
appears. We've closed all other programs. We've even tried the conversion
in "Safe Mode". Same results, over and over again. There have been others
stating this same problem. But never a response from Microsoft before. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Normally it is a pretty easy process. Sometimes people have to
resort to the QIF export and import, but not often.

Change all custom types to standard Quicken types. Any custom type
will be converted to type Mutual Fund by Money.

It is often suggested to do a Validate and a Super-validate in
Quicken before the conversion.
http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2003/win/6148.html seems to
imply that there could be a problem with that. So you might try
the conversion with and without doing that.

You might want to try doing the conversion after a clean boot.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310353
describes selective startup or clean boot. That will minimize the
number of things running while you are converting. And give it time.
