I am having the same problems, except I am converting from Money 98 to '05. I
have transferred my old backup file to the hard drive. I do have the 1105
Update version. I have read all the articles suggested and still cannot get
Money 05 to accept my restore - it "quits responding".

Same problem, but going from Money 99 to the trial 2006. I'm pretty sure my
Money 99 is the US localized version since I live in the US and bought it in
the US. And the downloaded 2006 trial from from the Microsoft.com website.
So, not really sure this is a localization issue.

Furthermore, I see that there is a problem upgrading from 99 to 2006 on a
Windows 9x machine. For the record, I am running WinXP, so that shouldn't be
my issue either.

Furthermore again, I do have MSJET35.DLL in the SYSTEM32 folder, and the path
is set to that folder. So that isn't the solution either.

And I am not going to purchase a previous version of 2000-2005 so I can
upgrade to the "free" trial. Doesn't really make the trial free then, does it?

I wonder if
c:\windows\system\regsvr32 MSJET35.DLL
would help.

Nice thought. But although the file registered successfully I still get the
error when trying to convert the 99 database.

And when I attempt to "repair" the error response is "Invalid database", if
that helps.

You are working with a *.mny file I assume. You could try the
salv.exe downloadable via
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;902466
to see if that finds your data valid.
