So far I haven't heard too many horror stories, especially from folks like me who input most data manually and never use passport.     - Overall Opinions - MS Money 2006 I've read the varying threads on MS Money 2006. I'm trying to decide if it's worth converting from MS Money 2004. So far, I've only read one positive response. I bought MS Money 2005 and sent it back within 1 week. Horrid program. Key features (call me strange, but I like them) that I found useful in Money '04: 1. I could toggle between my online connection and accounts. Sounds simple, but when I would download transactions, have a transaction that was questionable, I could toggle back to the account register to investigate and toggle back to my online account. This wasn't available in 2005. 2. When backing up to disc, the ability to overwrite the changes on an existing disc. I couldn't tolerate going through more of the 2005 program to figure out the other intolerable problems so those are the top two features for me.     - Money 2006 - Monthly Reports I start using Money since 99, up to Money 2004,I am able to generate a monthly report for whichever the month I want as long as the data are available. This means I can get a monthly report a few years back and take it to compare with my present monthly report or for some other purposes. But since Money 2005,the program only allows you to have the most recent 12 monthly reports including the one in progress. I just upgrade to M06 and it seems this function is the same as 05. Can someone help to verify if my understanding is correct and whether possible to change the program setting to enable that I can get more than 12 monthly reports.     - Reports Don't Show Invoices as Income Money 2005 Small Business; Version 14.0.150.1105 I've setup clients, services, and invoices. I run any of the business reports and none of the "invoice income" shows up as income. When the invoice payments are deposited, the Category is "Payment for Invoice". Why wouldn't all invoice payments show up as revenue or income? When I try to customize the report via Customize->Category->Set Income Categories, the "Special: Payment for Invoice" is not available.     - Money 2004 Deluxe- Money 2006 Deluxe I have one remaining question/problem with Money 2006. In Money 2004 I had MSN Bill Pay enabled for an account that I will refer to as "Checking Account" After the update to Money 2006 a new file was created and named "Checking Account-#1" This account has a large negative balance and appears to be the last 60 days of bill pay items. My original file "Checking Account" is no longer enabled for MSN Bill Pay, the newly created account"Checking Account-#1" is enabled for MSN Bill Pay. Checking MSN Bill Pay from the web interface shows the original account name as the bill pay account. When I go to my upcoming bills list there is a check box by some, not all of my previous online payments. If I edit these payments, epay is not an option. However it appears that checking the box and clicking on the online payment button the payments will be sent. I have not tried this. I would like to get rid of the newly created account and make my original account the one to use for online bill payments with MSN bill pay.     - Problems Downloading Reports I'm having problems downloading Reports and Budget pages. I've been sitting here with a message that reads "Money Upgrade in Progress."     - How to keep track of non public funds? My 401k has funds that are not traded pubicly. These are the Fidelity Advisor funds. I can create the 401k account in Money and add the fund but not look up the ticker symbol since there isn't one. This means there will be no real time tracking of the fund.     - Deleting an investment in Money 2005 I have investments as an example, Fidelity Select Chemical which I disposed of many years ago. There are no transactions in any accounts related to this investment. Yet when I look at manually updating a price, I still see this investment is there, and further the program keeps updating the price everytime I log on!! No wonder the data file is gigantic.     - Bank Password problems When I go and update my bank account I can only update once before Money 2005 asks me to change my password. For example, I update my account to get my most recent infromation then, I set up a few bills to pay. When I try and send the payment my password is no longer saved and has to be changed. I spoke with my Bank, Comerica, and they tell me it is a microsoft problem. I have only experienced this problem since updating to 2005 from 2003. Any ideas on how to correct this problem?     - Money 2005 & 2006 Home Screen - Microsoft Please Read! Microsoft.... Could you please make the Home Screen a bit more customizable atleast in the next version? The Home Screens of 2004 and earlier versions allowed me to have 3 or more columns of information. - It was very useful as I had the real estate to see my entire financial snapshot at one go. 2005 & 6 allows only 2 columns on the home screen and it is very inconveient. i have a hi-res screen and now i get *very* long yellow and red bars running across half my screen....looks pretty ugly and a big waste of space. I am sure i can put lots more information on the Home Screen if it allows me to do so. Please allow atleast 4 columns data on the Home Screen atleast from the next version onwards.     - Installed bought Money 2006 on XP64 turns in trail version I just upgraded my Money 2005 to Money 2006 with the webdownload and forking over the $67 -$30 rebate Everything fine and works until it is finished downloading the additonal files and tells me to restart MSMoney 2006. After I do that, Money starts as 'Money Trial Version' I "assume" that it is something specific on my installation but the only thing I can come up with is that I am running **Microsoft** XP64 Anyone else encountered this problem?     - multiple bankcard accounts at the same institution I have 2 Capital One accounts, a gold and a platinum. They both use different logins and passwords. When I setup one for background banking it takes the institution off of the set up accounts online list so I cannot add the second account.     - password management in 2006 i have an account set up with E-trade, and have just changed over to there new digital security id, so that when I log on to my account the password changes each time.( there is a key ring that generates a new # every 30 seconds.) My question is, when i set up E-trade in 2006 for online updates. It asked me for the user name and password to get everything set up.     - Money 2005 Activesync Help Needed just installed 2005 Money so that it would sync with my Axim X5 running PPC 2003. I also down'd and installed the 3.8 version of Activesync, and the microsoft money for ppc download from microsoft. I can open money on both pc and ppc. In activesync options I see Money, but there is no box next to it to check. I've reset the device. Nothing changes. One thought - would it matter that I installed money on the SD card instead of the default directory?     - Money Pocket PC 2005 BUG I just synchronized 4 weeks of my transactions from Money 2005 into my Pocket PC. Wouldn't you know it but the totals didn't match. So I synchronized the last 52 weeks and they still didn't match. Then I synchronized the entire file ( over 4000 transactions ) and the ending balance still didn't match. I started checking the numbers and found that the Pocket PC version doesn't ignore VOIDED transactions. It treats them as though they were normal transactions. This to me is a Bug.     - Unable to register downloaded purchase of Money Premium 2006 I purchased Money Premium 2006 via a popup in Money Premium 2005. Almost every time I start the program now it pops up saying I have not registered it for special offers, but when I try to register it I get a message stating: Thank you for taking the time to enter your information. Unfortunately, the server could not be contacted. Microsoft Money will save the information you entered and you can try to upload your information again later.     - I can't see any passport/email assoicated but still enabled in my IN the File menu "LOGIN LOCKBOX" when I click it say "PASSPORT SIGN in is enabled for;" but no email or password written there In the change passport there are 3 options: Change details, Switch different passport and disable passport features.     - Money Won't Upgrade My 2005 File I have been using Money for years and have upgrade to each new version with no major issues. I have installed Money 2006 and when it goes to open my Money 2005 file it has me sign in with my passport and then tells me it needs to upgrade it. It makes a backup of it and then gives me an error that says that it can't locate my file and that it might be write protected or I might not have permissions to change it. Has anyone else seen this?     - Why disable? What does it do? I received this message and I assume it's because Money wants to use Yodlee since I am not connecting directly with my bank (i usually d/l qif's). What, if any, repercussions will I see with disable bill pay and then reactivating it? To set up Money so you can see your data from any computer, you must first disable MSN Bill Pay in Money. Go to the account list, and then click Manage online services in the left pane. Click MSN Bill Pay, click Stop using MSN Bill Pay in Money, and then follow the instructions on the screen. After you disable MSN Bill Pay, return here to activate the service that allows you to see your data from any computer.     - Need advice: typing credit card charges into splits I use Money 2005. Every month I have to manually type each and every credit card charge into the split category table for the check I use to pay the credit card balance. I use a credit card from U.S. Bank.     - Money Desktop Ads I received the popup for Money 2006 this evening. I've seen this before in previous versions of money and was not surprised (although I think it's cheap to build ads into applications we pay for). What I was absolutly SHOCKED about was that after I closed Money 2005 I had new icons on my desktop for financial services. I checked the creation date and they were created today.     - Money 2006 Deluxe-Special Offer pop-up Hi Folks, Just upgrade from Money 2005 Premium, everything seems fine except that whenever signing in, I got a pop-up window with wording similar like this "it looks like that you have not setting up properly to accept the special offer, do you want to set up now", then there is the options "yes" and "no". I click "no" to sign in with my passport but then the next time I get the same pop-up window again, not exception.     - Asset Allocation question I spent time putting in the detailed percentages of holdings (small / mid / large / cash / bonds / other) into all of my mutual funds, then tried to use the Asset Allocation screen to get a more accurate picture of my holdings. Instead of using the more detailed numbers, it puts each fund into one category as a whole!! Making my time spent useless. Example - fund AAAAA - set to 50% large, 25% snall, 25% bonds, Asset Allocator places it in the category it thinks best - 100% assets in LARGE. Am I a) doing something wrong, or b) misunderstanding how this works (i.e. when people talk about asset allocation for mutual funds, this is the correct way to think about and calculate it)?     - Investment Balances In Money Don't Match Bank My investment account balances in money don't match what my investment company says the balances are. I update online, so everything is current. I stumbled on a page in MS Money that showed both the correct balance and the incorrect balance, but now I can't find that page again.     - Removing one account from an online service [MS Money 2005] I have multiple accounts with the same bank and I recently closed one of the accounts. Now whenever I do an online update I get an error saying that the account might be closed (duh, good guess since I checked the Account Closed box). You would think if the Account Closed box was checked that the online banking would stop requesting info but it doesn't. The only instructions that I can find tell me how to stop Online Services for that entire Financial Institution but I only want to stop one account with that institution. Any suggestions?     - Money 2001 wouldn't start up, had to reinstall Recently I had a problem where Money 2001 just wouldn't start up. I tried a number of things, but nothing worked. Finally I just reinstalled Money 2001 to get it running again. Oddly enough, the previous night I had tried out two different programs for manipulation of CSV files - CSVDb and DbEdit. DbEdit associated CSV files to itself. I find a bunch of CSV files in the Money folder, but I of course I never tinkered with any of them.     - Paycheck direct deposited into 2 accounts I have my paychecks direct deposited into two seperate bank accounts. One account always get a fixed amount from the paycheck (eg. $500) and the remainder is put into the other account. Any suggestions for how to best handle this? I'm using Money 2005 if that makes a difference. I currently have it set up to enter the paycheck into the 'remainder' account and then do a transfer of the fixed amount into the other account. While this gets the account balances correct, the account that gets the fixed amount only shows the deposits as a transfer instead of a paycheck being deposited.     - Money Update in Progress Hello all- Yesterday I purchased the download version of Money 2006 Premium. The download of the webinstall and the initial install went fine and then it told me that some features would not be available until Money finished downloading the rest of the program. The program has been running for about 24 hours now and it still shows "Download 1% complete". This seems to be taking a little longer than it should. I have tried restarting the program, reinstalling the program to kick the download process off again, but it never gets beyond 1%. I made an attempt at using Microsoft's email and/or live chat support services, but even there I seem to run into a dead end. When I enter my Product ID it says, " The product ID number you entered is not valid or is not in the correct format. Please enter a valid product ID number and try again. Make sure the product ID number is of the form: 12345-XXX-7654321-98765." I am entering the product ID correctly and I have checked for any typos. Is anyone else having these issues? I would really like to get the rest of my program and use it, so if there are any tips or tricks or even better, a place where I can just manually download the missing parts of the program and install it myself?     - Money 2006 Deluxe - AutoComplete+ I recently updated from Money 2001. I am trying to figure out how to get Microsoft Money 2006 Deluxe to do the auto complete+. In Money 2001 when ever you started typing a payee it would automaticaly complete what the previous transactionfor that payee contained. Money 2006 seems to fill in every filed, but not the memo field. How do I enable auto complete of the memo field as well? I pulled up the help in Money 2006 and it said this so I think it's capable: About accessibility in Microsoft Money In addition to the accessibility features in Microsoft Windows, the following features make Microsoft Money more accessible for people with disabilities: AutoComplete automatically fills in a payee, category, classification item, or account name you've used before, once you start typing. AutoComplete+ automatically enters the amount, memo, category, classification, and account fields from the last transaction when you enter a payee name you've used before I checked under the settings/options and was uable to come up with an answer. Also, Money 2001 would give you a todays balance on each account as well as an ending balance if you had transactions in your register entred later than the current date.     - Upcoming Bills in Account Register What happened to the Upcoming Bills section that used to be displayed at the bottom of the account register? In 2003 while you were entering transactions, you could quickly glance to the bottom to see if there were any upcoming transactions. This feature does not appear to be available in 2005 Deluxe.     - Adjusting Dates of Downloaded Transactions I upgraded from Money 2003 Deluxe to 2005 Deluxe. In my old version, when I would download a transaction that matched to a register entry, it would default to the date that the bank had, not the date I entered. I could simply change it to the correct date and accept the transacation. This is not the case in 2005. It doesn't matter whats in the Date field, after I accept it, it changes to the date that came from the bank, which is typically wrong.     - Any Reason to Upgrade from 2003? I am on Money 2003 which I found to be rock-solid. Last year I tried out 2005, but rejected it due to reasons you are all well aware of.     - M06: Automatic Update Bug Fixed? M05 does not update accounts when you started regardless of whether you check the box to "Automatically update accounts when I start Money." Instead, it would usually update every day but at seemingly random times. Because of this bug, I am now simply clicking "update now" every day. So much for automatic updates. How can I get back to normal use?
