Just wondering what the consensus was after the Money 2005 update. Are you
happy to be using it now or you'd wish you hadn't upgrade?

I've been following the group and it appears the upgrade fixed a lot of
issues.

Thanks.

It didn't change my mind. I'm still passing on M05.

I myself wish I had not upgraded. 2004 was working well for me, but 2005 has
been one head ache after another.

Accounts seemed to finally reconcile amounts properly. There was one
holdover account that was converted from MSN Investor that still exists as
closed but was actually converted. Cannot find a way yet to remove it.

File|Print... while in the portfolio view still refuses to print and print
preview is grayed out. In fact, I've never seen print preview work on any of
the things I tried to do. In addition, the interaction with Money and MSN
Investor seems to have killed the ability to print from there as well. I
used to be able to print it from within the browser view, but no more.

For my money, I would not upgrade until such time as these problems are
reported to be fixed. Had I known what I know now, I would not have bought
the latest and greatest.

I should have stayed with 04. Money 2005 sucks.

I installed after the update and have no problems at all. Not sure the
upgrade did much for me however.

Well I returned it after one day! I went back to 2004 and I am staying there
as long as this is the direction in which Microsoft is headed with the
application. Not much of a personal finance program. Funny thing is that if
you want to download information from certain financial institutions, you
are forced to place your information on the website. Probably in two or
three years, there will not be a version in which you install on your
computer. Money 2005 creates duplicate transactions, so that you can't rely
on the balance. There is no longer Money Express where you can see the
balances of your favorite accounts and enter transactions into the program.
Looks like the programmers are saying that you should not enter transactions
into your register, you should just wait until the bank downloads them.
Microsoft has taken the wrong direction with this software product, thus
alienating the core customer base.

Microsoft believes most users prefer all of this. Or so they say. BTW, it is
not apparent they give two hoots about the core customer base.

I hope you returned it directly to Microsoft so they buy back at retail what
they sold at wholesale.

OFC was removed because it's supposed to be obsolete. How it can be
"obsolete" with so many people using it and, apparently, so many providers
using it and not supporting its OFX replacement may be another interesting
question.

I would suggest Microsoft spent longer than one year on M05. M02 came out in
fall of 2001. M03 changed very little from M02 and M04 changed even less
from M03.
