    - Bank Acct Auto Update without sync to MSN I would like to have my accts auto update without syncing to the MSN website. I would also like to not use the passport password. When I remove the pasport password and create a local password, I no longer am able to auto update from my bank. Do I have to have the MSN passport and web access to do this? If not, how do I do this? I have Money 2005 Deluxe on an Windows XP Pro system. I am creating a new money file so I can wipe clean and try anything new. thanks!!     - Joint Accounts? I'm using Money 2006 Standard and have run into an interesting problem. My wife and I are using the same bank (USAA, which we love). Originally, under /my/ account, I created us a Joint Checking Account, and a Joint Savings Account. When I used Money, I connected online to my bank using /my/ account information, and it automatically pulled in all the accounts listed under me at my bank (Joint Checking, Joint Savings, and Single CC). No problems here. My wife recently decided she wanted to start a single checking account for herself. As we already had Joint Accounts, she was already a member. I simply set up her online information, and Money automatically pulled in all of /her/ accounts listed under her name at the bank. /However/, while it successfully pulled in her single checking account, it also pulled in the Joint Checking Account and Joint Savings Account as well. When Money connects to our bank and updates our accounts, it updated the Joint Checking & Savings /twice/ thinking they're different accounts. Because I don't want to throw off all of my expenditure tracking and so forth, I thought I would just delete the accounts. But trying to delete them my only option would be to delete the bank account, which would also require me to /not/ track her personal checking. I tried closing the account in Money, but it /still/ updates the transactions in it, throwing everything off. Thus far I've been having to delete all transactions in the duplicate accounts every time Money downloads account information from my bank. Is there any way to tell Money that these accounts, even though they're listed under two different bank accounts, are the same? Or to get those two, and not the personal account, not to update? Or what should I do? I'm tired of deleting all the transactions in the duplicate accounts, but so far its all I can come up with. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.     - Lifetime Planner absurd figures The college expense estimator tells me room and board for an undergrad at UF (here in Gainesville) costs $273/year, and Out-of-State tuition (which I would not have to pay) costs -$714 (yes, that's a negative sign). Obviously I have to ignore that and enter my own value, but can someone else replicate it in M06 Deluxe? There should be some reduction in food expenses at home when my kid leaves, but there is little or no change in my housing expenses (hot water?) and the college room costs are cash out of pocket.     - Auto Assign Category for downloaded transactions (turn off) Question: Is there a way to turn off the auto assignment of categories for downloaded transactions in Money 2006? We shop at Walmart, Costco, etc. where we purchase many different goods. We split most of these transactions into multiple categories. Money remembers the last split we have made and automatically assigns that split/category to the next dowloaded transaction from that store.     - Transfer "Account Tools" Categories to Budget ; PID I've set up elaborate expense categories/subcategories in the Banking tab under Account Tools/Categories & Payees. Is there a way to import this category structure automatically into a new advanced budget? I bought Money 2006/Deluxe at Walmart. When I tried to use the online support, they asked for a product ident. number, but when I went to Help/About MS Money, there was nothing but a serial number, which didn't work. Any ideas?     - Money 2006 upgrade/MSN Billpay I upgraded from Money 2003 Deluxe to Money 2006 Deluxe. I used to make epayments out of the register for an account "A". After the Upgrade, I had a new account "B" which was now associated as my MSN Billpay account. Account "A" is no longer assoicated with Billpay and I can't make epays from the register. I can't merge duplicate accounts. These 2 account don't show up in the list. I can't find a way to associate my existing account with billpay. Any ideas?     - Archiving Confusion I recently upgrade to Money 2006 from 2004. My primary data file is full and I'm wanting to archive 2004 and 2005 respectively into two separate files leaving me with virtually an empty file for 2006. Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT for Checking Account transactions that involve my mortgage and payroll transactions. For some reason during the archive process, transactions with the 2004 date that should be archived are remaining in the primary file. If subsequently deleted, they alter the Mortgage account as if the payment was never made. The same is true if I delete the payroll deposits - it wipes out the related 401K contributions from my investment account. Is this normal?     - Problems with Money 2006 and MSN billpay Money version: Small business I'm finding it tough to navigate how to correctly link Money and MSN bill pay service (which I have been using for 3 years). This becomes a problem when I have to make modifications or have to troubleshoot a problem. I just want a transparent way to designate my bill pay account IN ONE PLACE and make both Money and the Bill pay service recognize and synchronize this. Some changes I have made lately have left me out of sync: #1: Under my accounts, there is an 'MSN Bill Pay Checking' account. I never added this account although its been there a while. Why is it there and how did it get there? Just by synchronizing with bill pay? This account balance is always $0. #2: My main checking account was confused (bank error) and it was just too much trouble trying to balance all the erronous transactions, so I decided to delete it and reimport it a) I deleted the account out of MSN bill pay (moneycentral website) and after some trouble (I had to mail in a blank check), readded it b)Money refused to let me delete it as it was my main bill pay acocunt - it only allowed me to 'close' it. Even after I deleted the account out of the bill pay service at moneycentral (see a) c) I reimported the account successfully, but Money still obvioulsy remembers the old instance (it calls it account #2). d) Now when I try to pay my bills from Money, it does not show me my checking account, only the bill pay checking account in #1. Since I'm not sure if this is a real account, I have resorted to paying bill from outside Money on the moneycentral website.     - Buying in margin -- Money is overstating the assets in my account When I buy stocks in margin, Money mistates the amount I have in my account as a total of my assets. For example, let's say I have $50,000 cash, and then buy $70,000 worth of stocks. After the transaction, Money says that I have $70,000 worth of stocks. However, this by itself overstates my value.     - Problem with a closed account I have been using MS Money 2004 for the past couple of years, mostly as a glorifed check register, but also the debt reduction planner feature. Starting with this new year I've decieded that I want to set up a budget in Money and have been trying to do so this morning but I'm having a problem with an auto loan that I paid off four months early this past month. The problem is that even though this loan is paid off, with a zero balance, and has been "closed", the original scheduled payment of $475 still shows in the monthly debt reduction portion of the budget that Money sets up for me when I use the autofill feature. I have tried everything that I can think of to remove this closed loan from my monthly budget but can not seem to figure it out. Can anyone here offer a suggestion?     - Change an Investment Type in Money 2006? In Money 2006 there does not appear to be any way to indicate the investment type of a new investment or change it after it is created. On MSN Money the investment (symbol FVL) is listed as a stock, but it is a closed-end fund. I need to record the year-end capital gains distributions, but since Money thinks it's a stock, I can't do that. The only transaction types that are allowed are Dividend and Other Income. How do I record both Short-Term and Long-Term capital gains? How can I change the investment type to Mutual Fund (or some other type that is more accurate)?     - Move the *.mny file I have been using money since Money 2001. When I installed Money 2006, I discovered part of Money 2001 was still their and that is where my *.mny file is stored.     - 2006 pull-down windows hangs I recently installed Money 2006 on an IBM Aptiva 2163 running Windows 98 SE. I have had problems with pull-down windows from day 1. Not all - for example, within an account register I can pull down the window for "debit" and "next check number", but many other windows will not open to allow me to select an option for 20 minutes or more. I see the "not responding" when I open the Task Manager, but eventually, 20 minutes or so, the pull-down window will open. Each additional click on a pull-down menu, except for those which are not a problem, results again in a 20 minute delay. I also tried updating my accounts within MSN Money. The message said this could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. I have a cable connection so it should have been fast, but again this update took a very long time before I cancelled it. Any ideas, I'm out of them. I have done quick and standard repairs, reinstalled Money 2006, all to no avail.     - Mismatching of downloads with manual data I suppose there might be "no answer". But just wondering if anyone has an idea why... I manually enter my checks when written (so that the payees are properly recording in my ledger. If I don't money always records the same payee to downloaded checks, the one in the last ledger entry for a numbered check). Then when I download (via qif file), Money (2005) matches the downloads with the manual entries. And I've never seen it err before. However today it decided that the match for a manually entered numbered check (not yet cashed in reality), dated 12/22/05 , was a cash withdrawal, from a teller, made on 12/30/05, for the same amount. I Didn't catch it immediately and accepted the match, and so I had to delete that transaction. Then when I imported the same file, it still did not recognize it properly, but assigned it as an unnumbered check, with a payee matching the most recent one before that for a numbered check. (It always does this payee silliness, which is why I took to manually entering check #s so it wouldn't do so. Any ideas what happened, or should I just chalked it up to the vagaries of qif files?     - [Un]Happy New Year. Using Money'04. Finished half of year end transactions last evening. This morning I can't add anything using "portfolio changes" i.e. reinvest divids, etc. Tried completely uninstalling and reinstall from CD. Tried a second file, and previous backups. Still same results. Upon trying to "add new transaction' the info box ALWAYS comes up "Edit Transaction" referring to a previous one. This is true for any stock, bond, MF, etc. No error messages. One of the 'features' I like is when viewing upcoming bills on the Bills Summary screen you can highlight <ctrl-select> what bills you want to pay and see a running balance at the bottom of the screen. This was there in 2003, gone in 2004 (everyone complained), back again in 2005 and now seems to be gone again in 2006. Am I missing something or is it time to start complaining again???     - Newbie problem with amortization calculations Hello, I've just today installed Money 2006 Deluxe trial version; a full version is on the way, which I am beginning to regret. I've only gotten as far as downloading my checking account from my bank and TRYING to establish an account for my mortgage. I have entered the information five times now, but the mortgage amortization Money calculates simply will NOT match my bank's. It starts off being off by a few pennies at best, and escalates by the end of the amortization to being off by anywhere from a few dollars to fifty or more. Money also will not allow me to make the mortgage come out to 360 payments. I can make it 359 payments... or 358 payments... but not 360. Is this just the way it is? Am I doing something wrong?     - Money Small Business 2004: Category does not show up in P&L Report I use Microsoft Money Small Business 2004. I have created new sub-category Frenchise Tax under Business Taxes with supplying all requested information. like inclusion in Schedule C , type of Expence (Business ) I have assigned this category (Business Taxes : Franchise Tax ) to a transaction entry in my register. I run the reports->Business -> Profit and Loss statement, This entry does not show up in the report. However , when i assign this to other previously existed category like Federal Taxes , it does show up in report. Also, When I look up in category Screen, the trasaction indeed shows up here under "Business Taxes : Franchise Tax". Can you explain it why? Newly created category is supplied with appropriate Schedule C information. I looked up the settings in category screen for both "Frenchise Tax" & "Federal Taxes " , they are all same..     - How to open Money 98 file with Money 06? ok, ok, ok...it seemed so easy, but has me stumped at the moment. I built a new computer for my parents for christmas, and was trying to transfer all the files that they use over to the new one. I am opening them in the new programs, and making sure they save in the new format, so there will be no future problems. Everything has gone well, until I got to MS Money. The file from their old computer is for Money 98, and I installed Money 2006 on the new computer. I have tried opening the file, its backup, restoring from a backup, etc, without luck. In some cases I receive an error message, saying to send an error report, if I am restoring from Money 98 or 99, and to follow the links...the link is broken, and I am told 'there is no additional info available on this topic'!?! When trying to restore from a backup, it says that it cannot open it, because it's a read-only file, or I do not have permission to open it. Or, that it may be open with another application. OR, that I need to restore the file from a backup (even though that's what I'm doing!) Are there any other options for opening this file on the new computer/with Money 2006?     - How to input "Keep the Change" transactions with Bank of America I just signed up for the BofA "Keep the Change" program and need to figure out the easiest way to set this up in MS Money 2006 Deluxe. This program rounds up my debit card transactions to the nearest dollar and puts the difference in my savings account. They match 100% for the first 3 months, and then 5% thereafter So...how do I do this? My first thoughts are... 1. Create the Savings Account in MS Money--Doh! :) 2. When entering the transaction, I enter it as a SPLIT..for example.. A purchase of 99.01 at WalMart for FOOD would be split as: Food: $99.01 Transfer : BofA Savings $0.99 Any other suggestions?     - MS Money 2006 I have several issues with online. I set up a couple accounts that were in the list for online setup. They dont work even with the correct passwords, I get the MS Money couldnt recieve info from the bank, yada yada yada. I have tried setting up the accounts many times. I have also set up my checking to update, which it does, but not all the time. I tried yesterday, and today, and it wont update, but sometimes I get on and it says it updated on a certain date, even when I wasnt logged on. This is frustrating, and MS Money help site sucks.     - Wrong transfers showing up in report I am using Money 2004 Small Business on a Windows XP Pro system. I have rental property and have setup two top level categories in Money to track the income and expenses (with several sub-categories to break out rent, taxes, insurance, etc.). I ran an Income/Expense report and just selected those two categories and also selected the "Include Transfers" option to account for the amount I am paying down the loans by.     - MNY 06: Can't delete one account without deleting all I've just upgraded from Money 2004 to Money 2006 on my laptop computer. Although I have online access to 6 accounts at my bank, I just want to manage two of these accounts on this computer. However, when I opened Money 2006 and connected to my bank, it downloaded all 6 accounts. I am confused by this issue. My money Deluxe 2006 seems to be
online/connected sometimes and then it isnt. I will be able to do everything
and then it is as if it is not connected and tells me I need to connect to
the internet and when I click yes it doesnt do anything but if I close the
program and restart the program then I am connected again. Could someone
please help me about this? I need a steady and reliable connection with my
