(Money05)

I had 4 Netbank accounts all under the same logon ID. I have closed 2 of
the accounts but for some reason. MS Money keeps looking for them and gives
erros everytime I connect. When I say I closed them, I mean, I closed them
at the institution and then I closed them in MSMoney. But whenever I do an
online update I get the following error:

"Microsoft Money could not update your account because your bank or
brokerage does not have a record of it. The account may be closed or the
account number may have changed. Learn More."

Duh... That's exactly what happened, the account is closed... so how come
Money keeps trying to update it. I've tried everyway I can think of to
disassociate this account with the Online Setup (short of stopping and
resetting up online services, which I can't beleive is the real answer).

By the way, I have the same problem with Chase Credit cards when I reduced
from 6 to 4.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Tiffany

Sometimes its that one thing you suspected but didn't try! You must
re-open the accounts in Money, disable online services for the
institution, setup online services again, then close, if you want, any
accounts that aren't included in the new set provided.

Keep in mind that when you close an account at a bank, it often remains
on their servers for some period of time. Therefore, in setting up
online services again, the closed accounts may come back. Just leave
them open in Money until you get "can't find account" errors. Then you
can close them in Money.

Hope this helps,
JB

Thanks JB.

I figured that would work but I refused to beleive that it was the ONLY way
to perform such a simple task. Why would there not just be a option to
disassociate a closed account from your online configuration without having
to remove the whole config recreate it? This has to be a common practice.

Good advice here and I do have one account that I recently closed that is
still updating, however, if I did have to leave the account open in Money
until I get the "can't find account" errors, I would then have to delete all
the online services all over again and repeat the process, right? Sounds
like I should wait until that one closes too and then do it all at once.
What a pain.

Right!

By the way, I forgot to add that if you have any APays (automatic bill
payments) setup within Money, you should cancel any with the bank
you're disabling online services with. Then set them up again when you
re-enable online services. If you don't use APays then thats one less
thing to worry about!
