Error message
I use Microsoft Money 99. It has worked great for the
past several years. I recently installed a wireless
adapter in my computer. I'm not sure if that triggered
something or what, but now I can't open my money program
and I receive an error message: The ordinal 6883 could not
be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL. If you
are reading this post, I would really appreciate some
advice! I have been searching the internet for answers,

Money 2004 convert from Quicken 2003
even though I validate my quicken 2003 file and the logs
show absolutely no errors, moeny refuse to import data
and convert my quicken file over. I'm interested in
possibly converting, but it has to convert. Any help??

account balances do not match
The balance shown on the Account List for one of my credit
cards shows that I owe $200. When I open the Transaction
List for the credit card account, the amount owed shows
(correctly) a balance of $0. Also, when I go to reconcile
the credit card account with the statement, the "Total
amount you owed last month" default entry shows $200 more
that it should. When I go to correct this error, my only
option is to have the program force balance with a $200
correction entry. The Account List balance and the
Transaction List balance for the account is still $200
different. Does anyone have any suggestions for what else

Tracking of Spouses Finances
When I go through the initial interview process, Money 2003 and 2004 ask
whether you want to track your spouses finances as well. I have however been
unable to find out whether Money does something with this information later
on. Anyone knows if there is some functionality that uses this information?

synchronizing 2 pocket pc's with money 2004
I want to synchronize both my and my wife's pocket pc's
(both have 2003 OS). when I get one sync'd and attempt to
have the other connected, it tells me it will only allow 1
device synchronization. Any thoughts as to how I could

Money 2002 standard slow and errors
I have Windows XP with Money 2002 Standard. It operates
very very very slow and after I back up and close the
program, it freezes. I get an error that the program is
not responding and to end the task. I've had this
program for a while and this started about 4 months ago.

Login Failure -- Response from Microsoft Support
I just ended a chat support session with MS since I was seeing the "Cannot
log in with passport" issue we are all seeing. Here is the response (which
works fine for me). Hope is helps other people too.

I understand the issue, you are unable to sign into Money using your Hotmail
Passport, is this correct?
There seems to be a problem with some of the Hotmail Passport's we have
notified the Passport team and they are in the early stages of investigating
this. Most likely it will not be resolved until at least next week.
In the mean time you can select to disable the Passport feature in Money by
going to File, Password Manager and click change.
This will still allow you to access MSN BillPay but if you are syncing with
MSN Money it will be affected.
{ME}That is correct for my problem. I use Wells Fargo for online bill pay
through Money. Can I still do that if I disable passport?
{MS}Oh yes, in fact in this situation if you still want to protect your file
with a Passport, you can create a new one at www.passport.com and use it
until the issue is resolved
it will not have any affect what-so-ever on Wells fargo BillPay.
all passport is for is to password protect your file, for background banking
(that is when statements are downloaded when money is closed) or MSN Money
syncing.

A quicken user needs help!
I switched from Quicken to Money 2004 and like it however there are a couple
of problems I have and assistance.
I download all my statements online (not via MSN but individual downloads
from the bank, credit card etc.)
The first one maybe is my fault and hopefully someone can give me the
solution. When I want to balance my checkbook the only option I get is to
enter my the balance from the paper statement. In quicken there was the
option to balance by choosing either the paper statement or the online
balance statement. Is there a way to do that?
Also I am having problems with some transactions. For example I just
downloaded the charges from my credit card and a few charges confused me.
One was from a company called Horizon Air services. Well, I had dealt with
this company last year on a business trip overseas but there was a new
charge yesterday. This alarmed me and I called the credit card to inquire
and found out that the charge was from a shop called Horizon where my wife
purchased something. however once it was downloaded into Money it changed to
Horizon Air Services. Also there was a charge from a company called Sloat
Garden Center ... but it showed as The Home Depot and yet another one
completely off the mark!
I went to the webpage of my credit card and looked at the history and the
names there were the correct one's. Why did Money changed them once it
downloaded them? Am I doing something wrong here and could someone help me
with this please.
The other feature I do not understand and this has been mentioned a number
of times and that is to be able to back the file up within Money instead of
going through the hoops via windows explorer etc. I do not understand why
the program only offers the floppy drive as an option in the drop down box.

Error Report
I have been using Microsoft Money Deluxe 2002 for a while now downloading
statements from my 2 banks without a problem. Now all of a sudden I can
download from 1 bank fine but the 2nd bank when I download, then I click
'ok' for the 'Import Succesful' Dialogue box I get another window that pops
up giving an 'error report' asking me either to 'send' or 'don't send' and
after I close the box the download does not go into the program at all. I
don't know if its just a problem with that one bank if the other one works

Microsoft Money 2004 Small Business Transactions by Category Report
Whenever I print a "Transactions by Category" report with "Subtotals
by: Months" in Microsoft Money 2004 Small Business, the "Month Ending
mm/dd/yy" and "Total Month Ending mm/dd/yy" title lines are 1 month
prior to the transactions they envelope. In other words, "Month Ending
2/28/03" and "Total Month Ending 2/28/03" title lines encase the

Please Contact Microsoft About Missing or Disappearing Payee Problems
I have filed a support claim with Microsoft about the
disappearing payees problem in Microsoft Money. The problem is becoming
very irritating. I am urging people who have this problem to file a support
incident with the Microsoft Money Support Center. I feel that this is the
only way that they will give the issue the attention that it needs.

Below are the details of the incident that I filed with Microsoft on
7-31-2003 about the issue:
Payees disappear from the master list of payees. The payee then
becomes unselectable in the drop down list when completing transaction but
it will show up under find and replace on transactions that it was used for
in the past. When the payee is added again, it starts a new record for the
payee and all transaction that use the new one are listed separately from
the transactions that used the payee that has disappeared. To get to view a
list of transactions that used the old payee that is hidden from the master
list, I must select a transaction in an account register that I know used
the old one that is missing from the master list and then right click the
transaction and select "Go to payee:" In order to add a new payee with the
same name is somewhat complicated. Normally when MS Money sees that two
payees have the same name it will offer to merge them. In this case though,
when a payee drops off the master list and I attempt to add it again, MS
Money gives a dialog box that states that the payee already exists and it
can not be created. MS Money knows that the payee exists, but it does not
show it on the payee list or in the transaction drop down box. If a name
that is the same as a missing payee is entered into a transaction form in an
account register, MS Money will force the payee to be recreated with the
same name. Even though there are several transactions under the missing one
(I have had payees with numerous transactions just suddenly vanish from the
master list) MS Money creates the new one with the same name. When this
happens, as I stated above, it treats the payees as if they are two separate
payees even though they are meant to be the same one and they have identical
names. For example, I had a payee called "The Learning Years" in my MS
Money file. I spent over 200 dollars at "The Learning Years" this past
summer in several transactions. Yesterday I went to add a transaction under
"The Learning Years" and the payee was missing. When I entered "The
Learning Years" in the transaction forms payee field, it did not offer it as
a choice in the drop down box. When I completed the Transaction, it asked
me if I wanted to add "The Learning Years" to my list of payees. I said
"yes" and it created the payee with the same identical name as the old one
that has vanished. When I go to "categories and payees" to look at payee
history, I see that only my last transaction with "The Learning Years" is
listed under the new payee that MS Money just created again. If I dig by
doing a search for "The Learning Years" to list all transactions that used
that payee name, I can then find a transaction that used the old one that is
not listed on the master list anymore. If I right click that transaction
and select "Go to payee:" then I can go to the hidden instance of the Payee
"The Learning Years" and the rest of the transactions under that payee can
be seen excluding the most recent one that is now listed under the unhidden
one that shows up in my master list. I know that many people are
experiencing this problem. If you do a search in Google Groups

I really like the MS Money product and I have been using it for years.
Please help me and the rest of your Money products users to get this issue

originally created by Money 2000 Standard, then it was converted to 2001
Deluxe, and then to 2003 Deluxe. I have tried using the salvage tools
available to fix the problem, but they do not work for this issue. I have
even used the latest salvage utility that is downloadable from the Microsoft
Support Website; it does nothing to remedy the missing payees problem.

Basically I am adding more debt to my loan account, but I

I just exercised a stock option grant, but in all

Money 2002 deluxe data lost during upgrade to 2003 deluxe
On upgrading to 2003 deluxe all data from earlier version
was lost. When attempting to restore received the
following: "Money can not locate "C:\My Money" or can
not open it..." Attempted Salvage.exe using Knowledge
Base #Q320193 resolution but it indicated the file was
too badly corrupted.
Attempted to restore the 2002 backup disks but when I
restored, Money 2003 indicated the file could not be

Problems setting up payroll entry
Just upgraded from money 2002 to money 2004. I tried to
enter a payroll check in the bills/deposits section. When
it asks for the accounts to which the money should be
deposited there are no accounts in the pop down window to

Login Failure
I use Microsoft Money 2000 and it has worked just fine
from the beginning. The last couple days though I receive
the following message as I try to log in.
"Money is unable to verify your Online Sign In. Money

Odd problem with electronic payment in Money 2003.
I have a problem with one electronic payee where I send the payment, but
instead of putting the little envelope with the lightening bolt in the !
column in the account register, Money puts an E in the C column. The payment
does get made, but when it comes back from my bank, the entry in the account
register doesn't get matched up, so I end up having to delete the payment
with
the E in the C column. It comes back from my bank with the same payee name,
so I don't think it is a matching issue. I have many other electronic
payments that all
work fine.
I even deleted all the payee information and reentered it all and this is
still happening. It is not a big problem, but it is annoying.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? I can't figure it out.

Recurring inter-account transfers in Bills & Deposits
I've been running Money 2002 on a Windows 2000 Pro O/S for 12 months without
problems and have several inter-account transfers set up as recurring Bills
& Deposits.
Until this month they've worked fine. But they're now shown as a 'payment'
in one account and 'deposit' in the receiving account instead of a transfer
between the two.
Has anyone seen this problem and got any idea how to cure it? I've:

Balancing the checking account
Hey guys, can someone help me with the following?
When I first started using Money 2002 14 months ago I
made the mistake of entering a guesstimate of a bank
balance so that I could learn how to balance the
checkbook. I'm stuck with the old balance and cannot seem
to pick a new starting date and balance, so that I can
make a fresh start. Can I just forget about last year,
pick a legitimate recent bank statement and start the

Autobudget values way out
Money 2003
I've been trying to use Autobudget to help create a budget, but the values
it's returned are way out and result in a budget that show I'm spending much
more than I have been.
A closer look at the transactions it's based its figures on shows that it
appears to take occasional expenses that have occurred within a given month
and create a monthly figure of a similar amount without taking into account
the months where there is no spending. This seems unbelievably crude way to
calculate budget figures and I'm sure there must be something I'm not taking
into account.
Is there any way I can examine and edit the way in which Autobudget analyses

can't start Money as a Power User
I could not start Money 2001 when I logged on as a Power
User. I could not find Money 2001 in the start menu. When
I tried to start it from the exe file, the software did
not response at all.
I had no problem using it when I logged on as
Administrator.

When I download bank statements from my bank some of the
transactions merge with manually entered transactions
which the program is supposed to do. The problem is that
the bank transactions are merging with unrelated manually
entered transactions and they are being copied over when

Does anyone know if an upgrade from Money 2003 Deluxe and
Business to Money 2004 Premium will work?
I purchased Deluxe and Business 2003 because I was
thinking of setting up my own consulting practice a
couple of years ago. I never ended up using the Business
capabilities of Money however, and now I'd like to just
buy Money 2004 Premium to get rid of the extra UI fluff
that is in there for Business users.
I couldn't find anything on the MS site that indicated if
this is a supported scenario or not.

Gangsters! Money for PocketPC 2003 does not install on PocketPC 2003!
I just bought a new HP5550 (running PocketPC 2003) but when I tried to
install "Money for PocketPC" that came with Money 2003 it refused to
install on it!
I am told that I need to upgrade to Money 2004 (which includes a newer
version of "Money for PocketPC") to be able to sync Money with my PPC
again.
What's the rationale behind this? I can't see any! Obviously M$ just
saw a new possibility to force customers to upgrade their desktop
versions of Money even though they might be perfectly happy with their
current version (at least I am)!
I call such attempts to force new versions and upgrades down my throat
GANGSTER METHODS and I will remember that next time I buy any SW
that's supposed to sync data between my desktop and my PDA!

Error restoring backup
I have Micrisoft Money 2000 Deluxe ver 8. I recently
backed up to a floppy as I wanted to reformat my drive and
re-install the operating system and other components. When
I re-installed Money from CD and tried to restore my
backup I got an error message saying file corrupted or not
a Money backup file. The file on the floppy is
MyMoney2Backup d1.mbf . I may have updated Money sometime
down the road from the internet but dont remember where I
got that update. It might have been off of the CNET or
ZDNET websites. Obviously my Money program thinks my

Money 2004 will not update stock quotes after initial update
The first time I loaded Money 2004 and updated stock
quotes it worked. Since then, it provides a checkmark in
the Call Summary Mesages next to the message "Your call
was successful" in the Category "Quotes, New, and Exchange
Rates". However, I see the time of the download is the
time when I ran the first update, not the most recent.
Money support has not yet fixed the problem. Has anyone
else had the problem? More importantly, does anyone have

article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within
weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "OK, why not
try this if it is a scam I will only lose $6.00.". Anyway, it said that you
send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in
the article. You then place your own name and address at the bottom of the
list at #6, and post the article in some newsgroups(There are thousands) or
e-mail it to some people. No catch, that was it. The main difference
between this system and others is that you have a mailing list of 6 instead
of 5. This means that you average gain will be
approximately 15 times higher!!!
So after talking to a few people, I thought, what have I got to lose except
6 stamps and $6.00 dollars, right?
But like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the
legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post
Office(1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal!
I then invested the measly $6.00, and stamps.
Well, GUESS WHAT..... within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail!
I was shocked! I still figured it would end soon, and didn't give it another
thought. But the money coming in. In my first week, I made about $36.00
dollars. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00
dollars!!!!!! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and its still growing.
This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00
and it's still coming in VERY rapidly!
It's certainly worth $6.00 and 6 stamps, I spent more than that on the
lottery!!
Let me tell you how this works and most importantly why it works....also
make sure you print a copy of this article NOW. So you can get the
information off it as you need it. The process is very simple and consists
of 3 easy steps:
STEP 1:
Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of
paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST. + your name and address." Now get

STEP 3:
Now take the number one name off the list that you see above, move the other
names up (#6 becomes #5, #5 becomes #4, etc...) and add YOUR name as
#6 on the list.

(I think there are close to 24,000 newsgroups) and/or e-mail it to some

DIRECTIONS-HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS
STEP 1:
You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting.
Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter, click and hold down
the mouse button. While continuing to hold down the mouse button, drag your
cursor to the bottom of this document and over to just after the last
character, and release the mouse button. At this point the entire letter
should be highlighted. Then, from the 'edit' pull down
menu at the top of your screen select 'copy'. This will copy the entire
letter into the computers memory.
STEP 2:
Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top of the
blank page. From the 'edit' pull down menu select 'paste'. This will paste a
copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list.
Remember to eliminate the #1 position, move everyone up a spot(re-number
everyone else's positions), and add yourself in as #6.
Step 3:
Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your
postings in different sitting, you'll always have this file to go back to.
FOR NETSCAPE USERS:

Within the Netscape program, go to the pull down window entitled
'Window' select 'Netscape News'. Then from the pull down menu 'Options',
select 'Show all Newsgroups'. After a few moments a list of all the
newsgroups on your screen server will show up. Click on any newsgroup you
desire. From within the newsgroup click on the 'TO NEWS' button, which
should be in the top left corner of the newsgroups page. This will bring up
a message box.
Step 5:
Fill in the subject. This will be the header that everyone sees as they
scroll through the list of postings in a particular group.
Step 6:
Highlight the entire contents of your .txt file and copy them using the
same technique as before. Go back to the newsgroup 'TO NEWS' posting you are
creating and paste the letter into the body of your posting.
Step 7:
Hit the 'Send' Button in the upper left corner. You're done with your
first one!

THAT'S IT! All you have to is jump to different newsgroups and post away,
after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each
newsgroup!
**THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL
MAKE!!** That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the world
within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. box due to the large
amount of mail you receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a
name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it.

Now the WHY part:
Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So
then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5
persons who just sent me $1.00 make 200 postings, each with my name at #5
and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00
for me, now those 25 each make 200 posts with my name at #4 and only 5
replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons
turn around and post 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each,
I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of
those 625 persons post 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only
receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will
deliver this message to 200 newsgroups
with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will
receive $15,625.00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! And
as I said 5 responses are actually VERY LOW! Average are probable 20 to 30!
SO lets put those figures at just 15
responses per person. Here is what you will make:
at #6 $15.00
at #5 $225.00
at #4 $3,375.00
at #3 $50,625.00
at #2 $759,375.00
at #1 #11,390,625.00
When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in
the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting
your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember
is, do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining
the Internet and reading these articles everyday, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So
can you afford $6.00 and see if it really
works?? I think so... People Have said, "what if the plan is played out and
no one sends you money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when
there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the
internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to
give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, everyday, with
thousands of those joining the actual Internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and
HONESTLY and this will work you just have to be honest. Make sure you
print this article out RIGHT NOW, also. Try to keep a list of everybody that
sends you money and always keep an eye on the newsgroups to make sure
everyone is playing fairly. Remember, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. You don't

Changing MSN Bill Pay Account
I have Microsoft Bill Pay with Money. However I have several checking
accounts. I want to change the bill pay from one account to a different one.
Ideally I would like to pay out of what ever account I wish but I cannot
find out how to either make the change or activate more than one account.
Everytime I go through online services it just lists the one active bill pay
account I wish to change.

Money 2004 'PAY FROM'...a bug?
I just downloaded the trial version of Money 2004 which was installed
over Money 2003 (Microsoft recommended).
When I go to make an electronic payment there is NOTHING in the
drop-down dialog box for 'PAY FROM' (there should be my checking
account information). Incidentally 'PAY TO' and 'CATEGORY' work fine
and have all the data that I had in Money 2003.
Any one else experiencing this problem? Does anyone have a solution
before I switch back to Money 2003?
