 - Hangs My Computer ! Tell me what can I do ? Original MS Money 2004 Deluxe. Windows 2000 Pro Service Pack 4. Intel Pentium III 550 Mhz. 384 Megs. HDD 18 Gigas SCSI. The installation procedure was O.K. The Money=B4s Cheker=20 Utility confirms the program is installed O.K. ! It starts for first time and configured my profile and=20 setup my accounts. Then I close it. The next time I try to=20 open HANGS my computer (You can=B4t turn on/of the=20 keyboard=B4s led). I have to reset the computer. This=20 happends many times. I reinstall many times the software=20 and the problem persist. I=B4m MSCSE and A+ Thechnician. The demo version from money=B4s website works properly. What can I do ! Thanks a lot, Javier.  - Adding Products and Services to Vendors I am new to Money. I have been frustrated by the fact that there was no user manual provided and searching through the Knowledge Base has not produced any results. My question is basic action that I am trying to do. I am beginning to use Money 2003 Deluxe for setting up a small business. I have been successful in setting up my Vendor Lists. However, every Product and Service that I add goes to the first vendor on the list. How do you add Products and Services to other vendors on the list? Thanks for any help that you can provide.  - Changing online payee address I'm using Money 2002, and pay bills online through my bank. I find that I cannot change the address of an online payee. I get to the window to make changes, but the information is greyed-out, and although the dialog box accepts my changes, it doesn't change the data. Nor can I simply delete the account and start over, because unless I change the payee name, it just goes back to the old, incorrect information. Any clues? Thanks. Tag: Changing Computers Tag: 153657

 - Deleted Transactions in Budget I have recently moved around the dates of some of my recurring transactions and deleted and recreated them. Money has handled this fine except for the budget. Under Automobile: Car payment, the subcategory in question, I have my two normal monthly budget items for this month and then three ghost budget items. They are blank with no information. When I right-click on them the Budget screen just blinks at me but goes nowhere. The normal budget items I can edit as usual. My total budgeted amount for this month under car payments includes the three ghost amounts. So I have a fake huge expected amount for car payments. After searching around I have seen that this is a known bug that other people have explained in different ways. We'd like an answer here from someone that knows what is going on. To get around this problem I added a one-time budget item under wage bonus to offset the three ghost amount. I don't think this affects cash flow or income beyond budget. I think December's budget may be correct but the current month just has that nasty residue left over from previous deletions. Please Help Us! Tag: Changing Computers Tag: 153655

 - Duplicate Stock Symbols in Portfolio Any Fellow User: I own MS Money 2004. I set up a Portfolio with several mutual funds with there respective symbols for easy price download. Unfortunately, I have two identical funds (one of which is an IRA). MS Money will only allow me to enter one of the funds with its respective symbol. When I try to enter the IRA fund it tells me the symbol is already being used. Anybody have any ideas...certainly not the end of the world. I just update the IRA fund manually as oppossed to on-line.  - Money 2000 Deluxe & 2004 Standard Had Money 2000 Deluxe and upgraded to 2004 Standard. I got the 'incompatible version' error message. Purchased 2000 in Asia and 2004 in Australia. Found the 304254 Microsoft Support page. Advised to uninstall 2004 and reinstall 2000. When I did this I got the message incorrect password. I have only ever had one password. Checked the password crack sites and one site said it could supply the password for $20US and the other site said that the file was not password protected. I cannot Import/Export the file from 2000 until I can open it. Do you advise to spend the $20-00US to try the password crack or have you any other suggestions. I have years of files that I need and now cannot even get acces to them in 2000. Will I get my money back for the cost of purchasing 2004 and can I sue Bill Gates(for a few billion) for losing my money files. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  - Money2004 Pocket PC WONT SYNC!! I had MS Money working fine on my iPAQ running PocketPC2003. I am using Money 2004. I had a problem with the syncing of an account, so I deleted MS Money from the iPAQ, and now I am completely stuck. I have reinstalled it about 10 times. I have also uninstalled ActiveSync. Every time I Sync, the syncing of the Money file comes up with "Attention Required". When I try to resolve, it just tells me one of the file types cannot be recognized, and to disconnect and reconnect the device. Of course i've tried that 20 times, and get the same message. When I go into options and select MS Money for Syncing, the "Setting" button goes into disabled mode. That means I can't do any tweaking or try to point it in right direction. Any ideas? Keep in mind I have reinstalled ActiveSync. I have upgraded to ActiveSync 3.7.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Pocket Money, honestly, about 10 times. I am very frustrated.  - a few more how to questions... I have installed the MSM 2004 trial version. I have some stock sells which i specified the Purchase date--referred to as Lots. I have down loaded the data into MSM and the trades appear in the Report/Tax/Capital Gain--but they are the wrong sequence. How do i correct this??? I can't find how to edit the sell transaction to specify which buy side i want... While in the Capital Gains Tax Report, how can i easily switch between accounts?  - problem with repeated transactions My american express transactions are auto downloaded into Money 2002. But a lot of the transactions are repeated - the same transaction shows up twice in the register. This happens with most of the transactions. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.  - Tax Estimator not picking up Mortage interest I'm running the Tax Estimator in M04, and it doesn't seem to be picking up all my Mortgage Interest. I have an Equity Line set up as a credit account, but I do have the Finance charges in it categorized as Loan: Mortgage Interest. When I run the Tax Estimator, it only sees what I've paid on my actual Mortgage. If I run a report against that category, everything shows up, so I know it's not mis-categorized. Also, despite my Mortgage payment being a scheduled bill, Money is not projecting any additional spending in that category in the Tax estimator. Any ideas? Tag: Changing Computers Tag: 153615

 - categorized register entry does not show up in budget My problem is that my bimonthly paycheck deposit to my checking account does not show up in the budget. I set it up in the budget, using the same category, when I first set up bills & accounts. My register has the deposit, with the correct category, but when I go to budget there are no transactions in that category, only the budgeted amount.  - Home equity loan interest bug Home equity loans generally produce tax deductible interest, reported on a 1098. I have categorized this interest expense in an account as "Loan: Mortgage Interest" in a credit account (I have also tried a liability account.) The problem is that this interest is not included in the tax line manager report. The category is listed with zero total. If I go to the category, each instance is listed.  - Money Stops Responding When Viewing Reports I am running Money 2002 Deluexe, and am running into a problem with viewing my monthly reports. When I try to click to view the latest one, I an error message about a problem, and it wants to send info to Microsoft, then it restarts the program. I did a search in the Knoweldge Base and came up with article 313368, and have gone through all of the steps, to #7. I have found the date that it will let me view my report, 11/30/02, and when I try to find any transactions that may be causing the error like the article says, I have no transactions scheduled for that date. I have gone through each indidivudal account looking for transactions on that date as well as done a find for that date. Assuming that I fixed any transactions that I would have found, when I reset my date again, i still run into this problem. Is anyone else having this problem, or know how I might fix it.  - Report/Check select grayed out My boss's Win98 pc died and was replaced with XP. For the next 2 months he has to continue running the original version of MS Money. The problem is, when looking to print checks, only one of his defined printers will allow him to choose between report and check. For all other printers, including his default which is what he prints checks on, the option to select report or check is grayed out. I've tried running in Win95 mode and Win98/ME mode.  - Help - budget is doubling transactions Anyone know why a bill would be included twice in my budget. It's happening in many instances but not all. For example, I have a phone bill that's approx. $60 and although it's only listed once as an expense it is shown as $120 in the budgeted column after I click on the done button in the budget planner and if I edit it and click the drop-down arrow it shows the same transaction twice. For example, you have been paying rent by writing a check each month (Jan-Oct) and then you set up a recurring bill in November.  - Budget vs. Cash Flow Hi, Thanks for taking time to review my question (and it might be a stupid one). I'm using (just installed for the first time) MS Money 2004 Premium. It seems Budget and Cash Flow are duking it out, and Cash Flow is winning. What I mean is to ask is, is it possible to create a budget that balances out fine according to one's income, yet Cash Flow shows that the sum of flow will gradually go farther and farther into the red every month? Or, is it that the Cash Flow is independant, and I have to tell it that everything is going to be alright? Btw, I've already setup reoccuring deposits from my employer for my salary. Now the trick is to get my employer to send the payments without my participation in work, but that's another story :-) . Thanks for your time and I apologize if this is a stupid question.  - Start balancing the account after many months of not balancing I am trying to start balancing my money account after a couple of years of not doing so. I stopped one month because of a problem in the download from the bank and I've never been able to get it straightened out since. I would love to just accept what the bank says I have (it is at least real close to the truth) and start anew from some recent monthly statement. The alternative of closing the account and opening a new one just seems too extreame for the circumstances. Can anybody tell me how to get back into balance? Thanks.  - My stock transaction date is off 1 day I just installed the trial version of MSMoney 2004. I downloaded my data from my broker, but almost all the transaction dates in MSM are listed in the Capital Gains Report as the day before the actual transaction. I say almost all, because some are correct. I also bought and installed Quicken (i'm gonna return it though) and it has all the dates listed correctly.  - DRIPS & other stock purchases I am new to Money (version 2004, Deluxe) and am having difficulty recording investments to my stock DRIPs (Dividend Reinvestment Program accounts). I record a dollar amount in my checking account which transfers the cash amount to my DRIP stock account. Later when I try to record a stock purchase (at X dollars per share), either the stock amounts or the dollar amounts are incorrect. It appears that these problems are due to rounding errors. I tried just entering the number of shares of stock purchased but then I end up with all this unaccounted for cash in the account. I am having similar problems in mortgage accounts where my loan/interest payments don't match Money's amortization schedule due extra priniciple payments. Any ideas how to either turn off the automatic rounding/amortization feature or to force Money to accept the amounts that I enter? Help! Tag: Changing Computers Tag: 153572

 - Dividend Not Included As Income Hi, I found an odd problem today. It seems that the dividends are not shown as an income in the income and expenses report. Instead, they are shown up as "transfers." I think I understand why they show up as transfers. It is because of the way Money logs dividend transactions. When a dividend is received, in the investment account, you typically have a transfer transaction that transferrs the dividend to the cash account. Something like this: Investment Account: Dividend from MSFT Transfer to:Cash account 16.0 Cash account: Transfer From: Investment account: 16.00 Memo: Dividends on MSFTA However, this makes it impossible to track dividend income. If I change the transfer to a normal transaction, the balance in the cash account is screwed up. Does anyone know how to correctly track dividend income?  - Password problem in Money2002 Hello all, I've made an .mny file under Money2002 for several months now. Recently I had to format my whole PC (nothing to do with Money btw..), and I reinstalled the Money2002 program; after clicking on the "Restore backup" or even the "open"-button, and selecting my old .mny file, it is asking me for a password. I've tried all my possible passwords already, none of them seem to work; I've tried all the password recovery tools that I could find on the net, like for example the AOXPPR, which is I think the only one that supports 2002 versions, but that proggie is saying that concerned file is not even password-protected? I myself am not even sure if there is any protection on there now..Can anyone somehow help me with this, I am in dire need to set up my and my wife's budget if you get my point... thanks so much..  - Home Loan with Extra Principal I currently have my Morgage withdrawn directly from my checking account. I want to post it into the register automatically but not have it double post when I download my transactions from my checking account. Also, when I setup my loan through Money automated system it determines my loan payment of (not real numbers) $1050.00 with P+I+Taxes+Insurance. I currently have $1100.00 withdrawn from my account with the extra $50.00 going towards principal. How can I reflect this extra $50.00 towards princial in Money. Currently when I go to Account List and Home Loan is only shows $1050.00, but if I go to add the $50.00 towards principal there is no category to reflect that it went towards principal.  - You'd think this was simple I want to set up a liability account to pay back someone for a car loan. I want to set it up monthly recurring to be trasnferred from my checking account to the liability account, thereby both sending the electronic check to the payee and recording it in the liability account.  - Credit cards Is it possible to get Money to take into account the credit card interest rate? For example, at the moment I have entered the current repayment and of course if I look at a 1 year projection it shows the repayments going in but no projection of interest payments. This makes it look like I'll be in credit in no time - I wish!! I guess this applies to any loan account and is pretty basic so I'm sure someone will have an answer to this.  - Upgrade money99 to 2004 On WinXP home, Money2004 installs OK. But hangs during file conversion from Money99. I was able to go in and set up as a new user - new accounts etc. I want to be able to use all my stored info.  - Downloading Problem in Money 2003 I am having problem downloading my Visa statement in Money. I have a Canadian $ Visa as well as a US $ Visa...I used to be able to download any transactions from my bank but it no longer works. The message I get is as follows: Your statement contained a default currency (CAD) which was unrelated to the currency of the account "US$ Visa". Money does not support statements containing default currencies. How do I get this cleared up.  - data transfer from Money 2000 to Money 2004 I recently purchased new desktop w/ Windows XP operating system. Befor shutting dowm my old pc (with Windows ME), I backed up my Money 2000 data on floppy. I am now having trouble opening data on the floppy using my new computer. A message tells me that data cannot be opened without supplying the file name that was used to create the financial data backed up on the floppy.  - MNY04: transfers, dont understand.. i have credit cards and other accounts i wanted to track and pay down. so i set up a credit card account with its balance. then i setup a transfer from my checking account (MSN billpay) to issue a check and paydown the credit card account. that worked fine when i executed the transaction, but what i noticed was that no expense category can me associated with this transfer. how can my income/expense reports be correct if i cant show that money went to a credit card category? now if i set it up, instead, as a new bill then i can associate an expense category; but i cant associate it with paying down the credit account.  - Partial payment to mortgage I would like to be able to make a "partial" payment to a reacurring bill (my mortgage) every two weeks when I receive my paycheck. This would make it easier to pay my largest bill (mortgage) at the end of the month.  - Getting up to date with my retirement fund A few years ago I tried to setup my retirement account (which is in a 403(b)) in MS Money. Well, things have changed, I've added new funds and removed ones that were performing badly, but I never entered those changes in MS Money. I also have it setup so that when I get paid Money tracks my gross pay, and distributes the funds into categories like federal income tax, state income tax, my 403(b) plan, etc. So, Money has been sitting there accumulating inaccurate data for my 403(b).
