    - Passport sign-in unsuccessful SOLUTION!!! ok, i was getting the sign-in unsuccessful error that many money users seem to be having. after doing an extensive search here on google groups and did all suggested solutions it still wasn't working - so what i did was to go to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\ and delete the Money folder with all its subfolders (there was \12.0\something with xml files in them). after that passport sign-in worked like a charm. hope this helps anyone who has the problem Tag: Categories Tag: 160476

    - Money Delux & Buisness 2003 The above is installed on an ME system. Clicking Money's shortcut results in the following message:- "Installation of the money system pack was not successful. please install it manually by double clicking the syspack.msi on your original product CD." Followed by a registration prompt (it seemingly appears every time). Attempting to open a QIF results in the message:- "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options Control Panel." In an effort to resolve the issue, the chap attempted to uninstall but was unable to do so as:- "This action only valid for products that are currently installed." The problems seemingly began after an online virus scan "cleaned" some infected files - name of virus and name of "cleaned" files are unknown.     - Remove Exempt Expenses In trying to get my budget to line up correctly, I exempted many expenses and would like to undo my exempt status for some transfers. Does anyone know how I can do that?     - understanding out of budget accounts and into budget accounts O.K. from reading a lot of posts, it seems like a good understanding of what budget accounts are is needed for a lot of us. Personally, I don't understand why there are the lines, transfers into budget accounts and transfers out of budget accounts in the first place. I just want my budget to tell me to what degree my spending is converting income dollars to capital dollars not how much money has moved around this month in all my accounts. The most I would want would be an FYI telling me that some of my money is no longer in an account that I am tracking with my budget. Especially bad is that these transfers are counted as total expenses at the top line, which has confused me and a lot of posters. However, I have faith in the Microsoft developers that they have thought about this and it is my lack of understanding that is the problem here. With that in mind, I set up some dummy accounts and here is what I found: Key: Out = Transfers out of budget accounts In = Transfers into budget accounts Transfer from Budget Checking to 'Non-Budget' Checking = In Transfer from Non-Budget checking to Budget checking = Out (This makes sense.) From Retirement account (can't seem to change budget settings on this one) to Budget Investment account = In (so this must mean that a retirement account can not be a budget account) From Investment Budget Account to Budget Checking Account = In (this isn't into budget accounts, it is between two of them, it's not in the 'out of budget accounts line'. why can't this be listed as income?) Sale from Investment Non Budget Account to Non Budget Checking account: Not listed This is starting to make sense . . . but there is still an ominous cloud of confusion that hangs over all of this for me (and I suspect many others.) Is there a definitive way to understand all of this. Perhaps, there is a Microsoft white paper on Money's budget model and a comprehensive description of what is going on here. By the end of the second week, I had made a total of over $1,000.00!!! In the third week, I had over $10,000.00 and it is still growing!!! This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it is still coming in rapidly!!! It's certanly worth $6.00 and 6 stamps!!! I have spent more than that on the lottery!!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works!!! Also, make sure you print a copy of this message now. So you can get the information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something so easy!!! Step 4: Use netscape or Internet Explorer and try searching for various news groups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions, etc.) Step 5: Visit these message boards and post this message as a new message by highlighting the text of this message from your notepad and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the subject, this will be the header that everybody sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group. Click the post message button. You've done your first one! Congratulations!!! All You have to do is jump to different news groups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each news group! REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWS GROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!!!! (But you have to post a minimum of 200). Thats it!!! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days!!!     - Reclassify a mutual fund investment I made the mistake of classifying a bond mutual fund as a bond investment when I initially purchased it two years ago. Therefore, money multiplies the price of the fund by 100 as if it were a bond. It has screwed up all my cost basis info. I want to go back to the date of the original purchase (Aug, 2001) and recategorize the investment as the purchase of a mutual fund. I can't find the area where I can Edit this transaction and actually change the investment type of the original investment.     - "Update Prices Online" works about 1 time in 100 I have 2004 Deluxe. It's the 3rd version I've had. The "update prices online" has always been unreliable, but the last couple weeks it almost never works. I get the "unable to connect to the quotes server" message. The Money Updates part of the process always works, so Money is able to use my internet connection. I've seen posts here about problems with the service MS uses for quotes. Is that still the source of the problem? Are other people seeing reduced reliability of the online update?     - calendar question Spouse gets paid (the major paycheck) on the 20th and me on the 1st. So the "month" we work from expensewise is the 20th to the 20th. When we get the 20th paycheck we begin to pay a lot of bills (even if they are not due until the 10th or 15th of the following month), and then the final ones after the 1st. The Calendar only operates on a regular calendar system. I wanted my calendar to have the expense on the due date (according to the company), but then when I pay it too early MSMoney doesn't know to cross it off of the calendar as paid. Any suggestions?     - Budgeting with 401k Disabled In my money file (MS Money 04, Windows XP) I have added two 401k accounts and an asset account. All of the transfers into these accounts showed up in my budget and created an inaccurate picture of my spending (I consider the budget to only track expenses as money that leaves my control and income as new money that comes into my control.) I know this could be solved by unchecking the "Include this account in the budget planner", but this button is disabled in the 401k accounts. Furthermore, this button doesn't even exist in my asset account. Does anybody know why this is and what I can do to fix this problem? I really want to understand budgeting in money and any help would be appreciated.     - Budgeting (revised) I have 04' Deluxe. I am trying to accuratly budget a joint account that my wife and I share. Income for this account is in the form of transfers. I can not get Money to look at ONLY my inflows and outflows in this joint account.     - Problems Entering a paycheck in 2004 I want to enter my paycheck...I go to Accounts and Bills, Bill and Deposits List. I click New, then Paycheck. I answer No (or Yes - doesn't seem to matter)to keeping track of Taxes. I come to the Create a recurring deposit Screen. At this screen I'm *required* to enter Payee Details - "Receive From*" Well..I'm receiving it from my Paycheck!! Only options i have to choose from are the accounts (credit cards etc) that I have setup! Why is this happening? I've reinstalled the product.     - importing into register I have successfully downloaded files from my bank into my checking account register. I have one account that that downloads my account info into a separate checking account, not the one I intend. I save the file then tried to import and it still imports into the other file. Bank support told me that the download may be matched to the other account and to turn it off, then re-point it to the correct account. I do not know how to do this.     - Adding a "unit" to the investment portion of my variable life insurance policy Hello Fellow Money User: I am attempting to track the investments made inside my variable universal life policy, the investment portion attached to the life insurance. It is an investment vehicle similar to an IRA but with certain tax benefits on the accumulating value . My investments within this policy (held wth American Express Financial Advisors) are not shares of stock in mutual funds traded with a symbol. Rather, they are "units" of fund families without symbols found on the exchanges. As a result, Money cannot find a symbol for it so it cannot be added and tracked. How does one get around being forced entering a symbol for the investment? I would like to track my investment value in Money but the requirment of a symbol has stymied me. Has anyone else encountered this frustrating aspect when working with investments in their portfolios? Any help would be appreciated. If any Money programmers are reading this, please consider that it would be cool if the value of this investment could also be updated automatically in the insurance planner. I have tried different installation types and tried all of the MS solutions without success. I can't even e-mail MS for support because I can't open Money to get my product ID and the webpage will not accept any of the ID numbers on the disk or packaging. $90 and 6 hours spent on installing this software and it won't work, what's up?     - balancing investment account I am using Money 2003 Deluxe. I have an investment account at datek which has two portions one for cash and other investment. Let's call it Datek(Cash) and Datek. When I reconcile my cash portion of investment account, the investment portion will not be reconciled by itself. How do you reconcile the investment part of this account?     - Stay Far Away Stay far away from Money 2004 Delux. I purchased the online version for my computer and then a month later my hard drive began going bad. I tried to access online help before I lost my drive completely, but Microsoft online help would not recognize my product ID (I checked it three times). After reinstalling a new hard drive, Microsoft will not help me get my product back. They want my ID number (which I lost with the hard drive), my product key (which doesn't exist since I bought the software online), or $35 dollars for technical support (which should come free with my warranty). I had money 2004 Delux and registered it with Microsoft, and they will do nothing to help me (except charge more money). I am on my way to the store now to buy a CD of Quicken.     - Mutual fund transfer Hi, I consolidated my mutual funds into one brokerage account. In Money 2003 I used the 'transfer account' function to move the fund's shares to the broker account. When I subsequently sold the fund, the capital gains report showed that the sale was a 100% short term gain transaction, which is incorrect as nearly all the shares were held more than 1 year (many more then 5 years). I have read that you can simply sell the number of shares deducted for the investment fee, and then use other expenses and specify that fund and balance out the sell transaction.
