    - How would I do this in Miney 2007? I have investments in a Mutual Fund. They also have a charitable program I can send funds to, take the charitable donation, then at a later time move funds to a specific approved charity of my choice. One option is to send cash to this charitable fund, the option I chose was to transfer shares from y mutual fund to it - you don't pay tax on the appreciation of the shares, they just reduce the # of shares in that account and add the liquidated amount into your charitable fund. The only way I can see to do this in Money is to "Sell" the mutual fund to its cash fund, then incur the charitable expense from there. But it's really not a sale, and messes up the capital gains report. Is there a better way to do this? Tag: FIA Card Services Tag: 217853

    - Problem with Money 2007 Premium and internal HTML This might have something to do with the fact that I have updated to Internet Explorer 7. Several operations in MSMoney now give me a problem. For example, this is what happens when I request Money's built-in monthly report. The software does a lengthy computation and presents a progress meter. After several seconds, a window pops up and asks me what to do with a file moneygen.htm. The only two options are "find a program" and "save." "Find a program" launches my web browser and points it to a Microsoft web page that helpfully explains, a .htm file is for web browsers. Great. I have saved the file to my desktop and examined it. It simply points to another file mrptmain.htm which I don't have, so it is useless. In the mean time, Microsoft Money displays a pane that looks like something out of Internet Explorer 7. The pane says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled." This problem also occurs each time I use MSMoney to make an online payment. After I have made the payment, MSMoney tries to show me a web page. It fails, with the above symtoms. Is this a known problem? Should I re-install Money? If so, what about the program updates I have already done? I recall MSMoney updating itself at least once since I bought it. How would I induce MSMoney to fetch this update again?     - Money 2006: Cannot Verify Sign-in I've read through the old thread and tried all the remedies. I've also search the help sites and tried those remedies including adding money as an exception to my firewall. We have two computers. The original computer that has 2005 installed will not allow the verification. So I installed the trial version of 2007 on the second computer. At first it gave me the same bs about not being able to verify. So I did the reg32 thingy.. it updated and it money now works fine on the second computer. The problem is I NEED it to work on the original computer. Does anyone have any idea why this will work on one computer but not the other? I've verified that the passport id and password log in and internet connection is valid on this computer. I know that these work fine. We've changed the password ect.     - Dividend and Cap Gains 401k Help MS Money 2002 When my Dividends come in every month and are reinvested into the Mutual fund that it came from, I go to my 401k page, then to the Investment Transactions, I do one transaction for the incoming Divindend, then another to show that I'm reinvesting. I think the effect is that the dividend is going into the cost basis which is incorrect right? The Cost Basis should only be what I have put into the 401k.     - problem with loan interest and principal I have a 10 year student loan I'm paying off. I set it up correctly and each month the amount was entered and the interest amt declined and the principal increased and the payment numbers advanced as they should. Then suddenly it stopped doing that and got stuck on payment number 3 and keeps giving me the same principal and interest amt. It has done this now for about 7 months, except for one month when it suddenly gave me a payment number 6. I've looked at the loan account settings and everything looks ok for the original amount and the interest rate,etc. When I look at the amortization schedule going forward, it looks ok, although it shows starting with payment 4 in January of 07 when I've probably already made about 15 payments. Many of these payments in the past have been reconciled in my checkbook, so how do I fix this problem and show the correct amounts? Puzzled as to what the heck is going on here. When I go to the bills section and click on that payment and select "edit bill series", it pops up a message that says "The recurring payment doesn't match the default Loan Acct payment, so changes here won't affect the default payment. If you want to change the default payment, click cancel now, go to the Loan Account's Acct Settings and click the change Loan Term's settings" But when I go to that page the loan amt that is show on that page and the interest rate looks ok, so why would I want to change something?     - Money 2004 was better As noted in a previous post, I was forced into "upgrading" to 2007 due to Microsoft EOLing updates on 2003. Updates didn't always work on 2003, sometimes you had to try a few times. But they NEVER posted erroneous data to my accounts. I just spent a half hour manually fixing 6 accounts that Money 2007 screwed up by duplicating entries, reversing entries etc. Searching for help, I've seen a ton of posts this month about users having problems with automatic updates.     - Wrong closing quotes today Multiple positions seem to show incorrect closing quotes on the Moneycentral server this evening. The "charts" on that service appear to be correct, but the quote detail is incorrect. One example: ALL 65.77 but really is 65.30 Fidelity and Reuters, as well as the chart displayed with ALL on moneycentral, all show the 65.30 quote. Checking time and sales data shows no trades during the last hour at 65.77. I think Fidelity would show an after hour trade price if such occurred. Any ideas as to the problem?     - Unable to sign in online with Money 2007... I have just installed Vista Ultimate along with Windows Live OneCare. I have then installed my Money 2007 and then completed the Money 2007 SP1 update. I then restored my money data from my Money backup file. Everything in Money seems to work OK, except I can not sign in online although I can sign in to my Money file local with no problem. I am getting an error from Microsft Money stating "You must be connected to the internet to sign in online.". Now I have a broadband connection and I am looking at a signed in Messenger Live and have IE7 open and looking at Microsoft's home page. So has Vista or Windows Live OneCare got Money blocked so it can not get out or something. Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening with my Money 2007?     - Best way to handle an IRA I have an IRA account that is invested in various mutual funds. I can't get daily pricing on the funds, and tracking the share counts of all those funds would be a pain in the backside. So what I've been doing instead is just assuming a combined share price of $1 and adjusting the shares to the account total. In other words, if my IRA is worth $12345, that means I have 12345 shares at $1 per share. As the IRA changes value over time, I just do a Add or Remove Shares until the account value matches the actual value. Since the account is tax exempt (deferred), I don't think this method will have any long term implications, tax or otherwise. Is this the best way to handle an IRA account? Bruce. However, two banks that are on the pick list are not working. I receive the error message obres:22063. One of the banks, it once actually showed me the accounts and added them to Money, but the balance shows $0 and I get the same error message when I try to update again. Great program potential, but I am getting frustrated. Any help is appreciated. So far, I have tried deleting the accounts, rebooting and re-adding, but no luck. A friend gave me his copy of MS Money 2007 H&B as he didn't like it. Can't say I blame him. His business computer, like mine, is not connected to the Internet for security reasons. Anyway I have used QB in the past and I hate that, so I decided to install 2007 and test it. I put the 2001 CD back in the drive and was going to do a re-install (thinking I might have messed something up) but I get a grey box message that states "The current installed version of Money is newer than the version on this CD" so I know that 2007 is the culprit here.     - Portfolio Manager "Update prices" - not updating stock prices since 13th of Dec I am using "Microsoft Money 2006 Premium". In the "Portfolio Manager" if I click on "Update prices"-->"Update prices now", it come up with the "Update Status" dialog showing "Update complete". The problem is that none of my stocks are getting updated. If I click on the "Online updates" icon on the upper right corner and go to the "Review update results" page, there it shows that the last successful update for the "Quotes, News & Exchange Rates" was on 12/13/2006.     - Money2007 :: Slow Response Upgraded from Money2003. Money2007 takes nearly 6 minutes to load and consumes 85-95% of the CPU (according to Task Manager). Changing screens, for example from Bills to Portfolio, takes anywhere from 15 to 25 seconds each time, and consumes nearly all of the CPU while it is doing it. Where did MoneyExpress go?!? What a pain to have to be in the account to enter a simple transaction. I used MoneyExpress almost exclusively for my day-to-day entries. This is supposed to be a "better" version? Account Balancing -- where are the details we used to have? For example, Starting Balance, Ending Balance, Deposits, Withdrawals, etc.? This was very useful to have and now it's gone. Again, this is supposed to be better? You don't take features *away* from a product!! During a Portfolio transaction (Buy, Sell, etc.) it can take upwards of 40 seconds to complete each time I do one!     - 401k statement date While entering historical data for my 401k, I accidently entered a statement date of 9/30/2006 instead of 9/30/2000. I didn't realize it until I tried to load 12/31/2000 statement, and received a pop-up that said "please enter a statement date later than your last statement date". After realizing my error, I deleted the transactions with the incorrect date and tried to reenter them with the correct date. At the 401k manager, it still shows the 9/30/2006 statement date, and won't let me enter any transactions prior to it. If I buy and sell a stock the same day, MS Money does not seem to add these transactions according to the TIME these transactions occured. this causes the buys to all be grouped together and the sells to be grouped together. additionally since the SELL transactions are first in the register before the BUY transations for the SAME day, this causes the share count to go negative. So money then rectifies this by adding ADD SHARE and REMOVE SHARE transations, screwing up the profit and loss since these transactions have to price. How do I get MS Money to understand same day transactions? If you bought a retail (not OEM or trial), I suggest you contact
Microsoft support. They have the methods to address that Yodlee
interface kind of thing.
