    - Transfer to a new computer I have just bought a new computer and the Money06 software package (not yet installed). I have Money03 in my old computer, which is functioning pretty well. I need some advice and guidance for transferring/ upgrading the files to my new computer.     - Merging accounts After a recent bank merger, online updates are available for my accounts. When I set it up, it does an online update and sets up new accounts with the same account numbers as the two current accounts. I wanted to merge the accounts, but it says it will delete all the history of my original account. Since I do searches etc to find information from these older transactions, I cannot use the update.     - Portfolio Manager displays cost with the wrong totals I have Money 2006 and I set up my investments in portfolio manager. The cost totals for my investments do not add correctly. I don't have a massive portfolio so we are only talking about 2-3 mutual funds with a broker. Initial purchases and subsequent purchases were fine. Everything totaled and cross footed. But, that all changed when I partially sold them to pay my son's college tuition. Ex: Mutual fund Cost Market Value Fund ABC $500 $625 Fund 123 $1000 $1250 Total $1750 $1875 These are not real numbers but this is what I'm seeing.     - Single quote not downloading? I'm having a problem with a single mutual fund quote not downloading. All my other quotes are downloading just fine. Just one particular quote is not downloading. I can update it manually, but the next time that I do an online update, it gets reset to fund price gets reset to $0. The symbol in question is CSMVX. That fund has recently been renamed.     - C.Card acct with different interest rates for purchases & transfer I am using Money 2006 Premium. My credit card has one interest rate for new purchase, a lower interest rate on balance transfers and a third (higher) interest rate for cash advances. I like to use the the DRP so how can I set up the account to apply these different interest rates. I also download Money compatible statements from the bank. I thought about trying to setup more than one account to represent each interest rate, but would that work if all 2 (or 3) account have the same account number when I download a statement?     - Money 2004 Toast! Having a problem with Money 2004. AllOfASudden (yep one word) it starts and then disappears. Troubleshooting so far: 1)Restored a backup - the program would restore the backup and I could view it as long as I didn't close the program. After that it would not open again 2)Uninstalled/Reinstalled. I found an MS technote that pointed to all the folders and regkeys to zap for a complete uninstall 3)Repair file. Same results as 1. Additionally, the repair log indicated no problems found although the repair file was 5mb larger than the orginial (8mb --> 13mb) I'm working under the assumption that the data file is bad but I cannot find anything other than the built-in repair and the salv utility that can provide a workable repair solution.     - Money 2006 Delete Accounts I'm using Money 2006 Deluxe Trial version. I had tried to setup online access to a couple of accounts, with no luck. (the financial institutions do not offer, although Money2006 walked me through the grueling process.) So I then just deleted those specific accounts, but when I update my other accounts it recreates these accounts as says the same error about how Money cannot logon. WHY? I don't want it to attempt to access this closed and deleted accounts! I've managed online services, and after I delete these accounts they dissappear from teh online service page, only to reappear after an update of other accounts. Is this just a TRIAL thing?     - Money 2006 Deluxe Cannot review transactions (hidden!) I manually download my Visa card statement to a .qif file and then import it. Worked fine in 2005 but now in 2006 it imports them and says I have 12 to review but they are missing, simply just hidden and I cannot see them. I've tried repairing my money file, deleteing and re downloading the qif, clearing my internet files. I've seen that some others were having problems but I haven't seen a good solution for this problem. Is it a bug, if so, is there a patch? TIA.     - Money 98 Hi: I purchased a new computer and went from Windows ME to Windows XP Home. Money 98 was on the old computer and was installed on the new one. However, when I ask to open the files I have for transactions, it will not bring them up. It says the files must be .mny files.     - installing money on another pc Ok stupid question here, I have been using Money (Deluxe Version 14.0.120.1105) for a long time now on my desktop. I have decided to install Money on my laptop too. What i expected was to see the same accounts i have on my desktop, on my laptop too. I entered my netpassport login on the laptop but i see that i have to set up Money from the beginning. Am i doing something wrong?     - How to stop downloading as specific fund I have one account where I download information on multiple mutual funds, in Money 2006. I want to stop downloading one of the funds, I know I can stop online services to that account, set up online again with that account, and just pick the funds I want to see.     - Foreign currencies I'm looking for an alternative to Quicken, and Money would seem to be an obvious possibility, but what I have just read about its handling of foreign currencies would make it useless to me. If I understood it correctly, Money provides a long list of predetermined currencies but makes it impossible to add any more. If this is true it is stupid, almost beyond belief. Nobody needs seventy currencies (or whatever the number is) but even if you only need half-a-dozen there are several reasons why you might need to create new ones: (1) New currencies come into existence from time to time, perhaps because of a regional grouping like the euro zone, or because new countries come into existence, like Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Money has picked up both of these, but how does Microsoft know that there won't be others? (2) You may need to preserve transactions in a currency even if it no longer exists. For instance, I lived in Belgium before the euro was adopted, and I had accounts in Belgian francs which I want to keep - they include security transactions and details of a house purchase, any of which I may need at some time for tax reporting. (3) From time to time, a country may reform its currency, typically because its value has fallen so far that there are too many zeroes in all the numbers. When this happens both the old and new currencies will be in circulation for a time. And even when the conversion is complete, users may still need to keep records in the old currency - as in (2) above. MS could have learned all this from a brief discussion with any accountant or banker with a little international experience.     - Entering an older investment trans. after stock has split Given a company's stock has already split, and that I'm catching up on my statements from prior to the split, do I enter pre-split stock numbers for those older transactions, or post-split numbers? Example: Say the stock split 2-for-1 on Oct-01-2005 I'm catching up now on my Aug 2005 statement Investment transaction of "buy 100 shares" of Aug 15, 2005 @ $10/share Should I enter that now as 200 shares @ $5, or 100 @ $10? I entered them as 100 @ $10, and I saw an "s" appended to the price, but the quantity still shows as 100. If I attempt to manually enter a 2-for-1 split, it says that one split has already been recorded for that day. Money knows about the split probably because I update prices online, but it doesn't seem to show me that the 100 shares are now 200.     - Loss of features in Money 2006 from 2004 It appears that Microsoft has removed from the 2006 version of Money some features I found helpful. In liability/credit card registers, the credit limits used to be displayed on the lower left side of the screen. In investment accounts, the corresponding cash account balance would be display. Now however, the system does not display this data nor can you turn it on. Customer support said they removed this feature from 2006. I think that is a mistake. Are there others out there that use to make use of this feature? Regardless of whether I send the error report or not, Money restarts. Closing down again still causes an error box to pop up but this time Money does not restart.     - Full version 2006 will not install After using the Money 2006 Deluxe Trial Edition for a couple of months, I decided to purchase the full version from the Microsoft Money Website. The Full version won't install over the trial version and the full version will not finish a clean install itself.     - OFX import = broken I accidentally selected the wrong account to import an OFX file into in Money 2006 Small Biz. Now everytime I try to import said OFX file, it goes into the same wrong account. I tried going into the account setup for both the account I incorrectly imported into, and the correct account and deleting bank name and account number information, but somehow Money still remembers where I imported that file into originally and wants to always import it into that wrong account. I really don't want to delete the account as is suggested in some old topics on this subject seeing as how I have a lot of data in the account, so is there anything else I can do?     - Vanguard transactions not downloading correctly, Money 2006 I am having a terrible time trying to download my Vanguard transactions into Money 2006. For some reason everytime I try to update my vanguard accounts money tries to make some adjustments so that my account in money will match my account at vangaurd. The problem is that the account matches before the adjustment so after the adjustment the account is wrong. I adjust my account in money to make up for the bogus transaction entered by money but next time I update from the internet money will again make a bogus transaction to "balance" my account. Is anyone else having this problem? Any other Vanguard clients out there using Money 2006 with any degree of success? All my banking transactions download just fine, the only problem I am having is with Vanguard. Does Microsoft keep a list of institutions that have known issues with MsMoney?     - New 2006 trial won't work with 2005 file Hi - I've just downloaded the new trial 2006 - by mistake actually - because i was having problems with the 2005 trial that was available just last week so I thgt I would re-d/load. Now Money is saying that it cannot convert my Money 2005 file into 2006 format because it was created in a different version. I don't have a problem paying for the software, but there's not point in my buying MS Money 06 if my 05 file won't work and has 12 months worth of data in it. Does anyone know why it won't convert my 2005 file? I don't want to loose all that information, and I would rather use the lastest version of the software if I can. Many thanks.     - Address information and Comcast Money 2003 standard (the one without all the onscreen ads!!!). When you look at Online Payee Details, the note "This payee is paid using the address information", I thought, means that when you EPay, Money sends the bill payment info to MSN Bill Pay who prints out a check and mails it to the payee. Is this understanding correct? For most bills marked this way, like my local water and electric company, the entry initially goes into the register using today's date. (When the check clears, the date is replaced by the cleared date.) For Comcast, even though it also says "paid using the address information", the bill I paid today (10/5) has a register date of 10/7. I seem to remember that the Comcast electronic payment has cleared my bank two days from the date I made the online payment (epay) in the past. That's too fast to print and mail the check and have it deposited by Comcast. This makes me think that the Comcast bill is not really paid by printing a check and mailing it to Comcast in Dallas and letting them deposit the check. Is the "paid using the address information" unreliable? Are some bills paid by MSN directly instead of by printing checks? On a related note, is there a way to set up Visa and Master Card bills so they get paid directly instead of by checks being printed? There seems to be no way in the Payee setup to indicate that a payee is a Visa or MC. Come to think of it, ALL of my payees say "This payee is paid using the address information", so what does that phrase really mean? Thanks for any enlightenment!!! Every time I try to manually add the transaction, I receive the following error: We're sorry, but Microsoft Money has experienced an internal error and will have to restart. I can add the transaction if I use Shell Oil as Payee. When I go back to edit the transaction to change the Payee to Mobil Oil, I receive the same error I listed above.     - MSN synchronization not working at all I had an established Money 2005 file that was upgraded to 2006 with relatively no problem. The nightly synchronizations with all of my banks had been working until about 2 weeks ago when, suddenly, no transactions were being synchronized anymore (for any of my accounts). There are no error messages for any accounts and Money shows them as having synchronized successfully. I've tried disabling the MSN Money linking, resetting them up, and then trying it again to no avail (same problem). I then setup a brand new Passport account and added my accounts into a new MS Money 2006 file and the same problem is occurring. It sets up my account correctly, it correctly identifies the available balance, but then a couple of days later the transactions that had occurred over the past couple of days are not downloading into Money. Can anyone possibly help me with this? I'm at a total loss and have resorted to downloading transactions manually from my bank in the meantime.     - money 2002 only reports one discrentary account. I want to have a cash flow report that I can rely on. Money 2002 reports my dining as trended , which is fine because its defined as discretionary. However there are other discretionay catagories that are on my credit card and checking account that are ignored ! Why is this. Are there any updates for Microsoft 2002 OEM version 10.     - out-of-date data When I opened my Money (version 12.0) file today, I found that it was showing me out-of-date data. Anything entered in the last 9 months or so has disappeared. I checked my backup file (it was backed up this morning), and this was in the same situation.     - How to account for refunds? How do you account for a refund in money? Example: Purchased $200.00 video card from CompUSA on Oct 1 Money records that transaction in my account transactions and it is categorized as Expense: Computer/Electronics Return $200.00 video card to CompUSA on Oct 7, but also purchase $50 dollars in other items. CompUSA refunds me $150.00. Money records that transaction in my account. My question is for the second transaction, the credit, do I again categorize it as Expense: Computer/Electronics. Money always gives me that nasty warning that I'm categorizing income as an expense.. but it seems to me that I would want that credit to apply to that category so that my monthly reports etc. only show $50.00 spent that month in Computer/Electronics. Is this correct? Or does money then calculate the second transaction as an expense since it was placed in an expense category.. and therefore my monthly report would show $350.00 spent that month for Computer/Electronics? One person told me I should do it this way.. another person told me I should actually enter "-150.00" as the amount for the second transaction instead of a positive 150.00 credit. Help?     - Invalid Path error in Money 2006 I just got a new computer. I was successfully running Money 2006 on my old machine. After successfully installing Money 2006 on the new machine, I've been trying to use my back-up from the old machine to populate the new file with my data (been using money for several years and want to keep the history). The back-up is successful, however if I try to either backup or close the new file I get an "invalid path error". Any ideas on how to fix this? I saw an earlier message regarding the back up to CD causing this error. Might my back-up path be incorrect? I've already had about an hour session with Microsoft on-line chat...they've had me reinstall, try creating new files, and even downloading the trial version incase my installation CD is corrupt, but with absolutely no luck.     - Money 2006 Deluxe Trial - Can't Work Online I installed the trial version yesterday. Set up my Passport account and the online services for most of my accounts. I was able to connect to my accounts and download updates just fine. Today I open up Money and try to download updates and it tells me that "account updates are unavailable because you are signed into Money Offline. To sign in online, restart Money, and make sure the Work Offline checkbox is not selected." I've restarted Money multiple times, as well as selected My Money file from File-->Open, and I never see any screen that has a "Work Offline checkbox". I've searched all of the Settings for this checkbox with no luck. Help also indicates that to work online automatically, I should make sure the "Work offline checkbox" is cleared on the "Sign in to open your file" page. Hi,

Does anyone know why I cannot do an autobalance for my credit card bill in
MSMoney 2005 std edition? Keep getting a pop error for every credit card
account that says:
" Your information is being updated. Click OK, wait for a few moments, then
try again. If the problem continues, close and reopen Money. If you are using
MSN Money, close and reopen Internet Explorer."

I could previously use this feature in MS Money 2000, until I upgraded to
2005 version. Pls help. thanks!
