    - "Sudden" new password for longtime money user?! Please help! Hey all ... I have a friend who has been using money for quite some time. At last check, I notice they have money 2004 installed but have been using some "web" version of Money ... it runs in the browser. Now, when he tries to open his old money backups he gets prompted for a password he claims he did not set (the password he used to use no longer works). After doing some more research (and using Money 2006 trial) it seems the locked up backups have been converted or are otherwise now in 2005/2006 format. When I try to open with 2006 I get prompted for both username/password and a passport account. My friend claims he never had a passport account and only used "money" passwords in the past.     - MS Money 2006 How do i balance (reconcile) an investment account to my statement? I know, or at least belive I understand, how to do this with my checking account, but how about an IRA or 401K account? Also, when adding a new account transaction in the Account Register, the pull-down menu lists all the investments that I entered.     - Restoring Backup I have installed Money on my desktop and started downloading transactions into it. My desktop runs windows XP. I want to install Money onto my laptop (Windows 98SE) then load the data that I have already entered into the desktop that I can work with the transactions ( that I will have backed up onto a USB drive) whilst I am away.     - Any idea how to delete a custom portfolio view??? Anytime I select a custom portfolio view within Money 06 Deluxe Trial, it crashes Money and I have to reinstall (and not select that particular view) in order to use the Portfolio Manager function w/in Money. Money '05 Deluxe did the same thing, hence my "upgrade" to '06 Deluxe Trial. In what I thought was more than a strange coincidence, the same thing happened when I used Money online through MSN. It crashed Internet Explorer and now if I select Portfolio online, Internet Explorer must close. Any potential solutions other than deleting the view are most welcome. Thanks.     - Need support on 2006 - Trial uninstalled my 2004 - NOW WHAT? I am trying to get my budget working. The 2004 money that I had calculated it incorrectly. I just installed the trial version of 2006 and bought a new copy of 2006 and am waiting for Amazon to ship it. So I am using the trial. When I go to customer support for online chat (as the 2006 budget program has the SAME PROBLEM), it won't let me proceed as the Trial does not have a product ID.     - Why is Money so Buggy I have been using Money 2004 for probably a year. I am constantly encountering bugs that make it very difficult to accurately keep track of things. I download statements every few days from my bank. I go through every transaction and verify them. Every week or two I make sure that the total money gives me is the same as the total the bank gives me and I balance the account. So why is it I am suddenly off by 26 cents and the problem goes back as far as the account is being tracked. I would have balanced only a couple of weeks ago and everything would have been fine at the time, so what happened. And why when I try and link a transaction to an occurrence of a bill does it sometimes refuse to do so. It will simply treat it as though I never did the linking. The only way I can get it to link properly is to delete the transaction, enter it manually, and then download the statement again. 3 months ago I started a completely new Money file because my previous file had become so out of whack with all the little bugs that keep cropping up. We just bought our first home (4 months ago) and can't seem to get the mortgage payment to show up in the budget.     - msmoney 2003: Strange Capital Gains Behavior in 2003 My version of money from 2003 is showing strange capital gains behavior in the tax reporting. I recently ran the report and it stated that my capital gains for the year was over 2,500,000. However, if I run a report with the individual buys and sells and do the calculations manually, the capital gains are significantly lower. Since I do not have the 2,500,000 in my account, I am going to assume that I am correct and that money has an error. I have narrowed down the problem to just one account. When I try to enter this transaction, I put in Quantity 1, Price $50,000, and it calculates the total as $500. ???? If I enter quantity 100, price $50k, then the total is $50k.     - Money 2006 - Editing Cateroies Hi, Ive got all my accounts and transactions set up in Money 2006. I had to inut a lot of these manually and so now Id like to go back and tidy up the categories so that theyre all consistent for my reports. I can find a single pace where I can edit these. I want to move some to be a subcategory of another. Tools->Settings->Categories just brings up adialog where I can remove unused categories, or add all from the default list again.     - WHy does MOney import transactions in closed accounts? I have two banks set up with the same bank, with two different user/password combos. That's because we have accounts with different people accessing them (wife, daughter, husband), but there is overlap on the two accounts also (for example, joint checking). I am using Money 2006. I have carefully set up and resetup these accounts to only bring down the transactions into a specific account (ie checking) one time, yet it creates new accounts for all of them in both user/password pairs. I close the accounts I don't care about, but Money still downloads transactions to them! SO for example, it creates a second credit card account, a second checking account, etc. All closed, but all download transactions anyway! I have to change reports to not include closed accounts, and it creates dupe payees when I don't accept the transactions. I have this problem with other accoutns too (like mutual funds).     - Money 2005 Report Error Hi Folks, I have a report problem that I have not been able to solve. I have looked in the newsgroup's FAQs web page and not found anything related to this problem. The problem is that I ran a Transactions by Category report (the canned one, not a favorite) using a subcategory that I later (after running the report) deleted. Now when I try to run the Category by Transaction report, the report starts to open but then immediately encounters an error and takes me back to the Reports main page. I am guessing that the Transactions by Category report is trying to open using the deleted subcategory (last used) and not finding it, generates an error. These are the things that I have tried to do to fix it, without success: * re-creating the subcategory (with data) and running the report * re-installing Money 2005 Does someone have a suggestion? I am new to this newsgroup and appreciate the time that you all have put into it. I have used Money for many years and learned lots in reading over the FAQs.     - bank sign-in does not work? Hey, I've just bought MS Money 2006 canadian edition and it won't log into my RBC Royal Bank account online. Both my checking and savings are from the same institution. The date for my savings account will update to close to the current day when I download the info.     - Money 2006 Canadian Version I would like to upgrade to Money 2006. But I see that the Canadian Version is based on the Standard Edition, and this software is missing some very usefull features such as Cash Flow Analysis.     - Money 2004 UK and Money 2006 U.S. Hi, I have been using Money 2004 UK version for all my accounts (UK and U.S. based). Now I live in the U.S. and just installed Money 2006 Premium (U.S. version) on the same laptop. Since I my salary is in US$ and I pay into a 401(k), I want to use the U.S. version's budgeting and planning features, but since I have accounts and investments in the UK, I want to retain and analys/ze those accounts using my UK Money package. When I installed the U.S. version, it tried to convert my UK .mny file but thought the file was corrupted. Later, I uninstalled the US version of Money and tried to use my pre-existing .mny file in the UK version, but it wouldn't recognis/ze my password. I created a new money file for my US accounts with a separate name, but still couldn't access the existing file. Can someone advise how I can use the UK and U.S. versions of Money without the U.S. version preventing me from accessing the UK file? installed Monay in my home computer, restored the file and tried to open the
file to update transactions manually since I don't have internet access at
home. But it requires me to go "online" in order to verify the
password...funny, isn't it?

Is there a way to do this?

If you told Money to use a Passport for authentication--Money certainly
encourages that you do--this is not surprising. Passports are authenticated
on-line. That's how it works. I'm not sure there is a way around it.
