    - Autoreconcile reports that it can't balance one of my accounts, but I've only been using the Money 2k6 trial version for a few weeks now. Subject says most of it... recently every time I use online update, one of my accounts reports that it couldn't reconcile the account with my bank data. The account previously balanced fine. I do have some transactions that are automatically entered (a paycheck, etc) as well as some manually entered transactions that haven't cleared yet... does Money not ignore those transactions? The weirdness is that if I compare my RECONCILED Money data (that is, add/subtract the unreconciled amounts from the local balance in Money) to my bank website after accepting the new transactions, the amounts line up.     - Money 2006 and multiple Sole Proprietorships We are interested in using Money 2006 to manage family finances as well as the finances of at least three small proprietorships, two of which are likely to incorporate sometime in the next two years. It appears that Money (Small Business Edition) cannot manage multiple business entities in the same file, so the obvious workaround is to have separate files for home and each of the business entities. My questions: 1. Is it indeed correct that Money Small Business cannot track multiple entities in the same file? 2. Is it possible to share information between Money files (such as money moving from family finances to business finances and back, name and address data, etc)? 3. Is it possible to create reports and charts showing overall financial status for all tracked entities (1 home + 3 businesses)? In other words, is it possible to create multi-file or cross-file reports/graphs/charts (perhaps with the use of some intermediary file that collects the data from the others)? If his can be done without relying on Excel (and sacrifing the nice Money formats), I'd be thrilled. 4.     - Using Money Premium in Canada I have been using Money for 9 years now and am quite pleased with it. I am currently using the Canadian Edition of Money 2000. I use it on nearly a daily basis to track my income, expenses and investments. I would like to upgrade to a new version to be sure that my stock quotes and bank downloads will continue to work and hopefully gain some of the improvements and fixes that have occurred in the past 6 years. It appears that Money 2006 Standard does not track investments and it appears that Premium does not work for Canada. Since I have been happy with MS Money I wanted to be sure before I went out and purchased Quicken.     - Backup file size different from last week I backed up Money today and I noted that the file size was about 10 Meg, but the backup last week was closer to 20 meg. I thought there might be something wrong with the backup I just did, so I did the backup again, to another location, and still it was 10 Meg. What would explain the drastic change?     - Recording Merger I've a merger that the wizard doesn't completely handle. BAC & MBNA merged. BAC gave 1:2 shares + some cash. They paid CASH-LIEU for fractional shares. Thus I have the following activity on my statement which I'm trying to record in Money. Before MBNA - 32.7068 shares Now 1/3/06 BAC SHRS rec'd through merger = 16 1/3/06 MBNA Fee = $25 1/3/06 MBNA Merger = (32.7068) = $134.92 (I think this is the cash part of the merger. 1/9/06 BAC CIL On 0.38284 @ 46.62010 = $17.85 (I think this is payout of 1/2 the fractional share left after the 1:2 stock swap) I have NO CLUE how to properly record this in Money 06.     - Money 2006 Transaction Matching-Ugh! This prompted me to add my .02... --- From Daniel Billingsley: a) The abysmal stupid retarded moronic semi-worthless transaction matching when you download transactions from a bank, whereby it matches a $24.89 transaction you entered to "Farmer Jack" on 2/10/2006 to a downloaded $24.62 transaction to "Amoco" on 3/05/2006? I can't count the number of hours of wasted unmatching this kind of stupidity, and I've *NEVER* found that I had just entered a transaction wrong in these cases. --- I have to agree with you. With the transaction matching, I can't figure out what it uses to match downloaded bank transactions with-the amount OR the payee. the preferred payee listing should help SOME, but like me(and probably MANY others), Wal-Mart is a store I shop at the most often for groceries, household, etc. Many times, the match amounts are different and the payee doesn't even LOOK the same or use the same letters in its name. That one is hard to figure out why! My payee list was recently cleaned up and my bank download this morning matched(or mis-matched) over 1/2 my entries and even attempted to match to a reconciled transaction. At least MS Money makes it easy to identify it when (mis)matched so we can match it to something else or just make it a stand-alone altogether. My vote would be for matching to look for amounts first and payees second. That would greatly reduce the time attempting to rematch things.     - Money can't sync a Certificate of Deposit (BANK VS INVESTMENT) I have a certificate of deposit CD, held at Bank of America, setup through, money that I update manually. Recently, I setup Money 2006 to sync with Bank of America (California). And low and behold it downloaded this account. Unfortunately the downloaded account is a BANK account while the account that I created through MONEY is an INVESTMENT account. Is there any way to merge these two accounts and continue to get udpates on the balance?     - Missing Investment Names I have the same stock in two accounts listed with the same symbol but with slightly different names by each broker. When updating from the brokerage sites the Investment Verification pop-up window asks if this investment is already in the portfolio with a different name. It is, but the pull-down list does not show the name I use for this security or the names of other current investments I hold in the portfolio.     - Sales taxes are not correct. How do I make the sales tax post correctly. The sales taxes are posting per actual money received. They should post per total invoice.     - Money 2006 is not worth the Money First let me say that I am not a financial wizard. I do have some investments and pay my bills on-line. I am a user of Money 2002. I finally decided to upgrade to Money 2006. I can find very little to cheer about in terms of functionality and human factors. I can not find any significant functional enhancements. The Human Factors are less than "industry standard." Simple things such as "Hide unused accounts" is buried in a menu titled "Sort Accounts by." I was also hoping that there was a way in 2006 to hide unused categories, but could not find that capability. There is no Help unless I an online; what kind of support is this? The Settings Menu item and the included functions are somewhat oblique. Why can not Microsoft make Money's Usability similar to other MS Office products? I must say that so far it is much easier to use with Quicken but I have a couple of issues: 1.     - Expenditure does not seem to go into correct catagory Hello, I recently financed 3600.00 for dental work. The method of finace is a credit card valued at the total amout financed, payable over a year (0% for the first year) . I wanted to assign the total amout to "health care: dental" so it will show up on my tax form. (schedule A ?) in 2006. First I setup a credit card account with 0 balance. Then I charged 3600.00 to the account, using Healthcare:dentist as the catagory. Afterwards I use the speacial catagory "Transfer : Checking" to pay the monthly amount.     - Missing transactions again...... *Sigh* My Money 2006 Premium is losing downloaded transactions again. After spending two hours on the phone with MS tech support in December and not finding a solution I had to abandon my money data file with four years of data and set up a new one. Ive spent the last six weeks getting everything right in the new file. Then this morning I open Money and it tells me I have 5 downloaded statements to read. I open the list of accounts with statements, and my checking account has (5) in parenthesis - indicating 5 downloaded transactions from my bank. When I open the register there is only one bolded transaction for review. Nothing new since Jan 31. Logging on to my bank shows the other four transactions that have occured since 1/31. So Money knows how to count and it obviously sees the transactions, but wont show them to me. Its affecting at least 2 other accounts - the number of indicated transactions for the accounts is going up, but nothing new in the register. I'm so dang frustrated I cant even see straight! My MS Money logs in with my passport so its doing this by 'background banking" - Im not manually downloading statements. This stuff worked fine for years until last December, and now its happened to me twice. Ive been through the support kb and followed the steps (repair the file, delete temp internet files, reinstall money) and nothing helps. Anyone got any good ideas this time around? Im at my wits end. Im calling support in the morning to get my money back (Ive paid twice now for a single copy, but thats another story) or to get someone that can really go through my file and help me.     - Bill Calendar and Debt Planner? How do they work together? Ok I have read all I could find but I can't seem to find anything that explains how the debt planner and bill calendar work together. For the explanation of what I am doing I will talk of only one bill. I entered my Providian credit card in the bill calendar. It is also in the debt planner that has me paying a different amount so I will hit the pay off debt date. I don't pay my bills through money because my bank doesn't allow that just downloading of the statements. I am hoping when I pay the Providian credit card from my banks website and download the statements to money that the bill calendar will know its been paid and delete or cross out the bill showing its been paid. Using it as a check list would be great that way one glance at the calendar I'll know what I have paid and what still needs to be paid. Will the debt planner talk to the calendar? I saw a setting on the bill calendar to auto fill in my banks register a few days before payment. I tried this once but it appears that when the statement downloads it doesn't see the two entries are the same. What are the keys that tie two register entries together? If it's the payment amount, that won't work because the debt planner adjusts the amount plus sometimes I want to pay more than I budgeted for. During one test the bill was grayed out with a line through it. Not sure what I did to make this happen. Any help understanding how this all ties together would be great. Car Asset with only Opening Balance of $30,000 2. Car Loan account which tracked Principal and Interest amounts (the loan is fully paid) 3. Auto category as Expense category with sub categories such as Purchase Cost (downpayment), Fuel costs, Insurance, etc. All car expenses were tracked under one of these sub categories. I've just started trying to use the budget features of Money (advanced
budget). I entered my mortgage payment into Money as a bill and told
Money to track that in my budget. What's weird is that for this month
(February), it says I have a budgeted amount of 0.00, and so I'm over
budget... for the month of March, the budgeted amount is 2x my mortgage.
I can't see April yet to see if it's correct, but I want to ask if
there's something I should check in the meantime. Thanks!
