Opening Money files sent by others
A company working with MS Money 2003 is sending its
accounting to me as a Money file.
Although I have also purchased MS Money 2003, I can not
open the files I receive. It says "Money cannot open this
file because it was created by an incompatible version".
I tried to call Microsoft for help, they say they cannot
give any support since Money is not being marketed in
Turkey. They provided me with a US phone number but that
is no help either. The person answering that number gives
an 800 number to call. I tell her that 800 numbers can
not be called internationally but she says she has no
other numbers to give.

Installing Money 2004
I just received MS Money 2004.
I cannot install it because I have an OEM Version on my
computer, and I cannot find the original CD to reference
when Money 2004 asks for it during install.

Options help in Money 2004
I don't know why but my Options are showing the same exact dollar amount for
Market Value and Gain. That can't be right as the price has to start at the
strike price and the Gain would be anything above that strike price so it
shouldn't match Market Value.
I am tracking Vested stocks only, but not tracking via FIFO (although I
changed it to FIFO to see if the price would change - it did not).

Portfolio will not open
After restoring my "Money 2000" account I have been
unable to access the portfolio option. Upon pressing
the "portfolio" button the screen flickers very slightly
and remains at the investment section. When I originally
restored back-up from my external HD there was an error
about a corrupt file. All other transactions are
viewable, however I would like to see the portfolio. I
have already attempted to change the viewer options in
the tool section and close out all accounts then access
the portfolio.

Money 2004 Standard
Has anyone had a problem with loading this particular
version on their computer? The program will not start up
autmoatically and when I go into run or add/remove
programs I am told that the cd is not formatted?!?!?!?!?!
Then I try to go online and call for support and they want
my product ID code, I can't even load it on to the
computer in order to go into the toolbar. Please tell me
what I should do.

M2004 SB: how to remove business info from file?
I made a mistake in configuring my personal file comingled with my sole
proprietor business in M2004 Small Business Edition. Now I'm trying to
remove traces of the business from the file, and can't figure out how to do
it. The way I thought would work was to run the Setup Assistant (by going
into the Setup Account area and changing details about me), but when I clear
out the business name, address and such (and you can't clear the type of
business), the Next button says I have to enter a business name. There's no
way to exit Money at this point without Task Manager...End Task.
Any ideas here short of rebuilding my file, which I'm very reluctant to do
because of all the custom configurations?

money problem
I want to use the same symbol for my portfolio in three
different places but Money want let me. I have an
account called Executive Stock program, Stock Bonus
Program and Executive Stock Unit Program. When I sign in
I would like for it to bring up the symbol from the stock
exchange for that day and tell me what I have in each
account. I there any way to get around this problem and

negative balances
no version of MONEY i have ever used has allowed me to
show a negative balance in an investment account, e.g., a
money market fund that has checkwriting privileges. Money
does permit negative balances in "regular" (checking)

Update prices of options
When I "UPDATE PRICES ONLINE" the prices on options do not
update. I have checked the symbols with my latest

stock split incomplete due to lack of disk space
When trying to record a reverse stock split (1 to 5), I
get "The stock split could not be completed due to lack of
disk space". I have 29 GB free.
Any ideas of what is wrong?

Wachovia Bank and online services
If you have noticed that your online services from Wachovia Bank, NA (in the
United States) is downloading incorrect balances and not showing any
transactions paid and completed as of this past Friday, October 10, you are
not alone. The problem is AT THE BANK and therefore this seemingly
inexplicable problem does not mean that something bizarre is suddenly wrong
with your computer or with Money.
To be precise, I run MS Money 2003 Deluxe and Business. My discussion with
the bank IT staff today indicated they were not sending correct info and
they were aware, once I brought this to their attention, that they are in
fact having a problem. I do not know if this problem extends to other
versions of Money but if your online services with them stopped working
correctly on the above noted date, the odds are enormous that you are
suddenly having a problem with your machine.

I like to track my budget on Microsoft Money 2003. I have
set it up to give me budget figures based on the "current
month". I want to change the current month setting to
start on the 15th (payday) instead of the 1st.

Auto Loans
I have an auto with an associated loan, and I am
purchasing a new car. I want to payoff the existing loan
and transfer the remaining principle to the new asset
(car)without it looking like the car cost more than I
paid. The transaction consisted of paying off car1 and

M Money stopped printing checks
For no obvious reason, MM 2002 has stopped printing on my
blank checks. I've been using money for 3 years and
never encountered this problem. I looked in program help
and followed its instructions -- File/print setup/check
setup etc but it did not help. Now when I tell my
program to print a check, it does show print in the
register but the active link on the far left does not

What is the Money Task Scheduler and why does it want to connect to the
Internet? I had to block the program's access to the Internet using my
firewall program. What purpose does this program serve? Since blocking its
access I have not seen any features within Money disabled or inoperative.

Wells Fargo Online Banking versus MS Money bill pay capability
Hi there! This is my first post to this group.
I have a great bill pay history with WF online, where I pay a few
bucks and my bills get mailed weekly, monthly, or one-time-only, as I
indicate. ALL my important bills get paid this way.
I now want to use MS Money 2003's budgeting and forecasting abilities.
I have no desire to print manual checks since the WF online
cuts---and mails---each check I tell it to for a small fee.
But I have no idea how to forecast and budget unless MS Money is
actually cutting the checks. And as for online help, I find that the
"how to" is not as useful to me as a list of what I would like to do.
Since I want to use MS Money to just budget for a small household, how
do I take what I need to and get a grip on what this program may do?

recurring deposit with wrong value
Isn't it possible to show the missing amount of a recurring value (and maybe
the missing deposits afterwards?) It does show the next missing recurring
value but not the difference between the expected and received value.
My situation: I've got a recurring deposit that misses 100 euro for one
deposit and misses two deposits a few months later. So at least i'd like to
know from money that i miss the 100 euro and maybe some othere afterwards or
i'd like to know that i miss the 100 euro and all other payments afterwards.

Factory Installed Money 2000 needs reinstall.
I purchased a COMPAQ with Money2000 pre-installed. I had
to re-install WindowsXP and was able to recover MSWorks,
also pre-installed, no disks, but not Money2000. There
is the "ghost" of Money2000, Icons, some unreadable files
etc. I have a certificate of authenticity for both
programs. My system came with a Recovery disk (MSMoney
not there and an XP OS disk. How can retrieve MSMONEY?

Money 2001 Budgeting for Quarterly Bills
I've just started using Money '01 to organize my bills
and track a budget. I've set up a number of reoccurring
bills that are paid quarterly (e.g. car insurance). I've
noticed that these bills only show up in the budget for
the month that they are due. I want those quarterly
bills prorated on a monthly basis in the budget to ensure
that there is money available in the month they are due.
How do I do this and preserve the reoccurring bill
feature?
I've tried removing the reoccurring bill and including it
as a monthly expense in the budget. However, when I pay
the bill, Money tells me I'm overbudget - it only expects
me to pay the monthly budgeted amount. How can I get it
to recognize and apply the unspent dollars in the

Money 2004 Small Business --- Need Help!!
I am running Money 2004 Small Business. While I have been
able to confirm that 100% of my Money data is correct/not
damaged, and while I can access it via "account list", I
am unable to access it via "investing/portofolio" view as
well as via the "Portfolio" icon. I am also unable to
produce "Net Worth" reports.
Any suggestions??

HELP! Money 2004 Cdn Edition vs ?
I currently own and use Money 2000 Deluxe (Cdn Edition)
for my finances and want to upgrade my financial software.
I recently rec'd a copy of Quicken XG but am finding it
next to impossible to use with my financial services (PC
Financial) while I know it works with Money. My question
is what is the difference between the Cdn Edition Money
2004 and the various US editions ie Std, Deluxe, etc....???
Is there now or will there be in future a CDN DELUXE Money
2004 or should I buy the STD Edition which is available
now??? Can I still import my investments ie mutuals and
stock automatically into the STD edition and do everything
that I could do with my current Money 2000 Deluxe?
I've tried to contact Microsoft Canada on this but every
time I try to log in and pose the question via the online
support option the system says that my software is not
registered for support in Canada???? which is beyond me

Hi
I'm finding that when I create new budget items I can't
choose which account to associate them with. As a result
the forecast graph keeps showing groceris and cash:foods
added onto my VISA account instead of deducted from my
Chequing account.
This happens when I create a budget item from scratch,
associating it with a category (Groceries) that has had
mostly all chequing transactions to date. Why is it
hooking up with my VISA account?

Money 2004 with Data on Windows 2003 Server - File Corruption
I have been running Microsoft Money from the first
version and have run Microsoft Money data files off my
server for five plus years. I was running Microsoft
Money 2003 and Money 2004 data files from my Windows 2000
server with out issue for over two years. After doing a
fresh install of Windows 2003 on my server and attempting
to run Money data files off my 2003 server, I can not
longer do it without data corruption of the Money data
file. Something changed with Windows 2003 server.
I am running all high end equipment, 10/100/1000 switched
networks and Windows XP SP1 with all of the Windows
updates. Everything stayed consistent between my servers
(Trend Micro antivirus, Veritas BU, etc) except the
installation of Windows 2003 instead of running Windows
2000 server. The server itself is a dual 1GHz Pentium,
with 5-18GB HDs in a RAID 5 with 2GB of RAM.
MS has given me mixed messages on running Money data
files off a network server depending on when I call.
They first tried to tell me that Money was not supported
on a network, but MS KB articles and the Money Help file
say otherwise (except for running over a UNC). I am NOT
trying to use Money with more than one user in a data
file at the same time. I just want to run the Money data
file on the server for backup and security.
I am using DFS, however I have tried using a straight
drive mapping as well. I have turned my antivirus on and
off on the client and server.
I have also found that Intuit QuickBooks Pro 2003 is
having similar issues. Almost exactly. The same
scenario holds true. It worked with Windows 2000 server
and since the install of Windows 2003 server, if you try
to run the data file on the Windows 2003 server, you run
into data file corruption issues. I have seen this at my
offices and my customer offices, so I know it is not my
network or configuration. Intuit QuickBooks is a multi-
user application and it is designed for such use. Intuit
is looking into this as well.
Has anyone else run into similar situation and is they a
fix or am I missing something.

Microsoft MVP help, please!! Budget feature useless for anyone who uses recurring bills (with fix)
I've posted this above, but I got no replies... This is a killer
bug that makes the budget feature almost useless for anyone who uses
recurring bills, and it's been in the product for years. I've given
you an easy procedure to recreate it, and a workaround. I've spent a
lot of time on this, and I'd appreciate an MVP acknowledging that this
has been passed to Microsoft from someone they'll listen to.

I think I've found a workaround that suits my needs, and a way to
prevent this in the future.
For the MS developers, the problem can be reproduced VERY easily. If
a Microsoft MVP could please reply, I'd appreciate it. It's a killer
bug that makes the budget feature almost useless for anyone who uses
recurring bills, and it's been in the product for years.
1. Create a new Money 2003 or 2004 file.
2. Create a new checking account
3. Create a new recurring bill for $50 in the "Bills: Electricity"
category
4. Enter a few instances into the ledger
5. Delete the Bill
6. Create a new budget, including the "Bills: Electricity" category.
7. Set the spending limit to "0".
8. Finish the budget, and you will see that you are being forced to
budget $50 for the phantom bill. Right clicking on the
"Over/under-budget" category gives you an "edit" option. The phatom
bill shows up here, but obviously, you can't edit it. Deleting all
instances of the bill in the ledger does not fix the problem.
It's clear that if you could choose to NOT automatically include
Bills&Deposits in the budget, that there would be no problem. To
prevent this from happening, you must disassociate your recurring
bills with your budget categories. The workaround is as follows:
1. Remove the category from every entry in Bills&Deposits.
2. In the Categories screen, create new categories called "Bad
Expense Categories" and "Bad Income Categories"
3. Move every category that has ever had an associated Bill or
Deposit into this category, as a subcategory. The phantom bills will
follow them into the trap.
4. Recreate the categories that you just moved, if necessary.
5. Create a new budget, including these "clean" new categories and
excluding everything in the "bad" categories.
6. When you enter an instance of a bill into your ledger, you can set
the category... Just don't just don't apply the change to the whole
series!
Voila! Problem solved. The only real problem is that now your
reports might be screwy for a couple of months, and the autobudget
won't have any historical data in the "cleaned" categories. In my
opinion, this is the only reasonable workaround... I'm not willing to
delete any data in my file. Not that Money deletes anything anyway...
I tried deleting every account in my 10MB file, and it grew to 11MB.
What's up with that? Might as well give me an undelete option to

Version 2004 - bills and deposit view
Just upgraded from version 2001 to 2004.
The bills/deposits view in 2001 let me view a date range of entries, such as
1 month, 2 month, etc. thru a drop down list. I typically wanted to view my
listing for 2 or 3 months out.
In 2004 I'm not seeing this functionality, all I seem to be able to do is
toggle the date column between ascending and descending.
Has this functionality been completely removed in 2004 or is the option
moved somewhere?
Additionally...
I'm finding the listing in 2004 differs from 2001 in that it excludes repeat
payees.
for example...
the view in 2001 would be
10/1 paycheck
10/5 mortgage
10/15 electric
10/25 telephone
11/1 paycheck
11/5 mortgage
11/15 electric
11/25 telephone
the view now in 2004 is
10/1 paycheck
10/5 mortgage
10/15 electric
10/25 telephone
11/30 insurance
12/30 property tax
1/15 homeowners dues
I need my full listing. Is this not an option in 2004 or is there a toggle
somewhere for me to view the listing completely?

how to import/convert TSV or CSV data
Hello,
The only file format proposed by my bank when I download
my bank statement is TSV (tab separated value). If it's
easy to use with excel, I can't find any way to convert it
to QIF or any other format that money can handle.

It seems each time i install a new version of Money I get
duplicate payees. On ehas the address I entered and the
other is blank.

Error when Processing a Bank Statement
When I down load my bank statement from my bank the
download works fine, however, when money goes to process
the statement in my account I get and error. Money asks
to send the error to Microsoft and restarts Money.
Once Money restarts, I see that I have "Items to review"
but I do not see them in my account registry.
I have tried repairing the file in all different senarios
I could think of, but nothing seems to work.

I am still using Money 98 and until yesterday could
download info from my bank. Today Money tells me that I
need a component of Money to continue to download. I
can't find any patches or components on the website. I
noticed that the banks has changed from Money OF to Money
OFX, does this make a difference?
Or can I just upgrade to Money 2004? Would I need to

Money 2000 Problems
I am just wondering if anyone has experienced the
following problems:
- I was experiencing a couple of issues with Money 2000
running on XP after using it for about 12 months. I
decided to backup my Money file and then remove and reload
the program from my computer. Everything was going well
until I tried to restore the backup. Money is about to
restore the back up and then asks for a password. I enter
the password which I have been using to enter Money in the
past and it does not recognise the password.
Can anyone help?
I have tried all the caps lock, etc, but it just does not
