I would like to have my accts auto update without syncing to the MSN website.
I would also like to not use the passport password. When I remove the
pasport password and create a local password, I no longer am able to auto
update from my bank. Do I have to have the MSN passport and web access to do
this? If not, how do I do this? I have Money 2005 Deluxe on an Windows XP
Pro system. I am creating a new money file so I can wipe clean and try
anything new.

thanks!!

When you say "auto update", do you mean that you don't even want to
click that Money should update now? If so, you cannot.

Can or did you choose a bank that says it has direct services
without saying "third party" on the description on
http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx as Fifth Third or
Nantucket Bank are? If not, you cannot.

Well, it appears in my settings, the accts that update, are set to do this
daily. My back is capable of me giving money my user name and password and
money downloads into the acct register any new transactions without me having
to manually enter them. Yes, I might have to hit the "Update now" option.
But my main question is, I don't want my data out on MSN in order to have
this capability. I also would rather not use MS passport when I log into
Money on my local PC. If I remove the passport password from my local PC, it
turns off the link to updates from my bank and I have to then manually enter
all transactions. In order to get the auto updates back, I have to turn back
on passport login. I hope I explained it ok.

Maybe the correct verbage I should use, is download updates on acct. I want
to be able to connect to the bank and download transactions as they happen
instead of manually entering them, but when i turn off logging into money
with a passport user id and password, I am not allowed that cpability. I
think that explains it a little better.

If you enter a Passport on the file and synchronize with a bank, your data
will be on the web. I think you cannot change that except by removing the
Passport.

I am not using a passport to login to Money 2005. I unchecked the option to
sync my data with MSN and my updates with the bank work fine. If you are
using MSN Billpay you will have to sync the data with MSN. Otherwise you
should be OK. Once you disable the passport on Money, go to do an online
update with the bank. You may have to enter your password again in the
online update box.

What happens when you try to do an update?
