Hi all,

I'm using Money Plus Premium, version 17.0.125.1415, but I've had this same
problem for at least the last several versions of Money. I deposit a fixed
amount of money every other week from my payroll into my bank. I've created
an entry that shows up on the "Bills summary" page to automatically enter
that transaction. My problem is that when Money creates an entry in the
register, the entry is marked as "E" (as in "electronically downloaded").
This messes up several other Money features.

I tried (in the previous version of Money) to remove and set up again the
automatic deposit, but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

Bob

How do you do that deposit? Is it a proper transfer inside a paycheck
transaction?

What other features are messed up?

No. I went to the "Bills summary" page and created a new "deposit" entry,
the parameters of which are:
Payment method: Direct Deposit
Frequency: Every other week
This is a fixed amount
Automatically enter the transaction 7 days before the payment date

BTW, I tried (just now) entering a new Paycheck. After I told it that I
only want to track net pay, it took me to what appears to be the same place
as creating a new "deposit" entry.

1. When I download transactions from my bank, I get duplicate entries for
all of the automatic deposits. That is, Money apparently doesn't recognize
that the downloaded deposit is the same as the automatically entered deposit
despite the fact that the date, payee, and amount is identical. So every
time I download transactions from my bank I then need to go through and
delete all of the duplicate deposits.

2. When I balance an account, Money initially changes all of the "E" entries
to check marks, even if the entry is dated after the closing date of the
statement I'm balancing, so I need to manually un-check all of the
auto-entered deposits that appear after the statement closing date.

That should work. See my comments below.

I'll encourage you to create a full-fledged paycheck transaction,
recording your various types of income and expenses. One of those will
be a transfer to your savings account. Recording everything on your
paycheck will benefit you at tax time, as well as giving you a more
detailed view of your finances.

Instead of deleteing the duplicates, _match_ your manually-entered
transaction (the one from the bills screen) with the downloaded
transaction. Click the "Change" button, then pick out the matching
downloaded transaction. Money will learn from what you did and do a
better job of matching in the future.

That's normal. Money is just picking transactions that add up to make
the account balance. I've followed your procedure for ten years now. I
wish it would leave them alone, because I check them off one at a time
matching them with the statement.
