In Money 2005, even if you turn off updates it will update anyway.
Microsoft has improved this "feature" in Money 2006. You can turn it off
but it will go through the update process anyway but not show the updated
prices. With automatic updates disabled in Money 2006 you have to tell it to
manually update in order for it to both perform the update process and show
the updated prices!
Also, not sure if this is only with Passport sign-in, but you can get Money
2006 to immediately update quotes by either navigating to the Portfolio
Manager or, from the Home page with Investment Summary displayed, just
minimize Money to the taskbar. Once it is restored, quotes will be
immediately updated!
One can only wonder the amount of coding it took Microsoft to accidentally
produce these "features".
