    - Money 2005 Will Not Update or Run This sounds so close to several other I've seen posted but here goes... After installing MSB 2005, I receive a message everytime I attempt to run the software that an update is available and is being downloaded and installed. It looks like the machine has hung until you hide the first screen and see the ominous meassage: "We were not able to complete the Money udpate". Please make sure you have at least 100MB of free hard disk space to perfomr this update. Then restart money to retry this wizard." I have 75GB on one drive and 58GB one another; I have MB to 4MB of virtual storage; I am the system adminastrator; I have NAV turned off; I have Stopzilla turned off; I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times.     - How to account for "returns" ? I kinda new to Money (2005) and would appreciate help with the following: 1. I bought something for $100 charged on credit card account C, categorized as "leisure" 2. I returned the merchandise, entered the item again in C but this time as credit instead of charge. 3. However, when I do analyze expenses by category; I see the merchandise credit is not accounted for in "leisure" category (i.e) it shows my original expense without considering the subsequent credit ?     - budget question I am trying to get my budget setup correctly and am having some difficulty. I have Money Standard 2005 and when I setup the budget there is a line in the income for transfers into budget accounts. The only line item I have there is for a transfer that I setup from my checking account to pay off a credit card balance each month. I don't see how this could be considered income. And I don't see how to remove this from the income line. I need to have the credit card in my budget account so that I can track the expenses from the credit card use.     - What version of Money Hello, I am looking for a money version that works on WindowsXP, but it has to work whitout any internet connection, and it has to be in the dutch language. preferbly a simple version, on this moment we are using Money version 5.0 (OEM) on a windows98SE system. This is a simple version that works just fine for me, i don't need any of the difficult internet based systems.     - GB-based mutual funds in USD I'm trying to track my mutual funds in Money 2005 but most of them are based in a currency different from their country. I can find the symbol using the "Find Symbol" button, for example in Great Britain, but that changes the Country/Region to Great Britain and displays a dialog that says, "Changing the country/region associated with this investment will also change the currency associated with its price history. Are you sure you want to change the country/region for this investment?" But the fund is USD-based, and the prices Money downloads for it are the USD prices - but it records them as Pounds Sterling!     - Stock split problems... Hi I have Money 2005 Standard. I have a stock that recently split. So I went into it and recorded the 2 for 1 split. After recording the split, I noticed that my number of shares did not just double, but they quadrupled. Instead of showing a 2 for 1 split it showed a 4 for 1 split. I am trying to get this corrected. I don't see any way to remove a split from within the account. Does anyone know how to remove a stock spit that had been added?     - Portfolio transactions posted to wrong category My 2004 "Reinvest dividends" transactions have all been posted to the wrong income category. Previous years' entries are OK, it's just 2004 that's wrong. The edit transactions screens don't give an opportunity to specify what category the transactions should post to.     - Money 2003 Reconcile help...archive recovery possible? Around the first of the year, I archive my Money 2003 file and it messed up my checking account to the point where I have to change the starting balance when I reconcile. It seems that Money archived all transactions older than 1/1/2005, regardless of whether they were reconciled yet or not! I could complain about that forever it ticks me off so much. I manually added back the transactions that were still outstanding and if I fudge the starting balance each month, I am able to reconcile as long as I take the "ignore differences" option when I am balanced by my reckoning. My question is can I ever get the starting balance fixed without mucking up my actual balance in my checking account, or will I have to start a whole new file?     - Update Date & Time I am new to Micrsoft Money and need help. The date and time on my computer and in Micrsoft Monay are both correct, however the date and time it gives me when I update new information from my bank is two days ahead of the current date. It keeps throwing me off. For instance, when I downloaded new information today May 20, 2005 at 7 pm on the home page it tells me it was last updated May 23 at 12:00 am.     - Money 2005 Install I have Money 2005 on my main computer and want to have a copy on my standby computer. I have installed Money 2005 on both, but when I try to open my data file on the standby computer, I cannot open the existing data file that was created in Money 2005 on my main computer. The system wants to convert the 2005 data file from the main computer, which of course, is already in the current format.     - Editing in the Register.... I am new to Version 2005, although I've used every Money version prior to this one. I can't find the setting "Use Enter to move between fields" Its been in all of the previous versions and I am used to editing my entries that way.     - Posted before, but thread got old before question was anwsered fully I have found with my Money file that sometimes there are entries that I even though I accept them, then do not reduce from the 3x size to the 1x size. (3x as tall as accepted transactions). I believe that the transactions are all transfers from another account i.e. part of paycheck, deposited into checking account, then a portion is 'transferred into the savings account and the savings account has the problem. We can click accept, but the transaction still remains 3x size, but the system doesn't seem to list it as a transaction that hasn't been accepted. I have tried both repair methods that I could find on the net (money.exe -s and I believe I tried the super savage repair tool). Is there something the matter, and what can I do to fix the problem? I am using Money 2003 and have been using money since money 99 (I think). Any help would be appreciated. Additionally, here is information that was asked for, or suggestions that were tried from the group. Suggestion: Ctrl+T in register view? Result: Ctrl+T does NOT work. already set to display one line only. It is selected items only that won't shrink down to one line. Any other suggestions. Question: Does your Account List show any transactions to review? Answer: Last I checked it showed one transaction to be accepted, there are probably 8-10 that are behaving strangely..     - Pocket Money I have been using Pocket Money since Money 2003 and all three versions seem to have the same issue. I've gone through three different PPC in this time frame, and have re-installed my PC many times. though I've upgraded the MNY file for each version. When I install pocket money by default it only syncs the last 4 weeks of data, it appears that it doesn't sync correctly or something in the way it syncs doesn't allow the balance on my PPC to be correct. The latest case was on the PC I had a balance of around 2k, but the PPC said I had a negative 1800 balance. Once I changed active sync to sync ALL transactions and put the PPC in the cradle they both wound up with the same balance of negative $2500 and balancing the acct went from the correct ending balance from the previous month to negative $1500. With 2003 I even opened a case with MS and didn't get very far, once we found that I could sync everything and get it to work I pretty much left it there and just put up with having to sync all the data. I've done that again, restored the money file from a back up, but still can't get the PPC to come out with the right balance. This has happened in the past and I had to uninstall, re-install MNY for the PPC. I'll be doing that tonight. Any ideas on what may be causing my issue with only syncing partial data?     - Money 2005 and Pocket Money 2005 I have a strange problem, I looked on the FAQs, reinstalled both programs and it still comes back. Both money '05 and pocket money 05 seem to work fine (though i think money '05 is a lot harder to use than money '02). The problem is with the investments portion of pocket money 05. For some reason it doesn't transfer over how many shares i own and then for some reasons says I own -trillionsOfDollars (where trillionsOfDollars is some obscenely huge numbeR). I like the program because of the banking but the invoicing could be improved with just a few tweaks: 1) Allow Project text to be included in the Invoice as an option. This would allow a "trouble ticket" or work order - whatever - into the invoice so the customer would have all the info in one location.     - Problem downloading OFX files. I thought this was a bank issue based on the error message I received, but I get it at every bank: "A communication error occurred. Please try your call again. If you continue to have problems call your financial institution's Online Services Customer Support." I did call one of my banks and they confirmed no issues on their side.     - money whenever I gripe about being forcd to upgrade money 2002 , and I state that all I want to do is match downloaded transactions with my register, I am told how great money is as an financial advisor...and that If all I waant is to match transactions, their are tons of programs that can do that . 1. Name those programs so I can purchase one. 2. What great financial expertise can be gained from MONEY? .......that if you refinance at a lower interest rate, you will save?.....that if you buy the same program every 3 years, Microsoft will profit?....please give an example of Money's great financial prowless 3.     - Debit transactions always come out as different name It seems that when I do a debit transaction at costco for example and I download it to MSMoney from my bank, The transaction always comes out with the name of Oppenheimer funds which is another transaction that is automatically debited every month.     - Corrupt Money and Backup files...? I have been using MS Money for years - currently using the latest 2005 version... Recently while using MS Money my machine crashed and now I cannot open my Money file because of some corruption error. I have also attempted to recover the backup file however each time it begins to "Repair" the file it stops and tells me to enter my passport password - I do and it just keeps trying to fix the file and then again asks me for my password... bottom line is that I have YEARS of data (register data, budget, etc...) setup in that Money file and related backup file - and it looks like I can't get at that data at all right now.     - Syncronazation Problem I have an account called Ahli Bank and anothr account called Ahli Bank United in my Pocket PC Money but when I checked my Desktop PC Money I could see one account only (Ahli Bank United). I can not delete the (Ahli bank) from the pocket pc. It's asking me to remove it from the syncranization list but it is not there in the list?!! Please help...     - Budget: Transfers Out of Budget Accounts (401k) I have an automatic deduction from my payroll to my 401K, and am tracking Gross Amount Payroll salary postings.     - Problems to restore backup file I recently had a computer crash and the hard drive is gone... Luckily (I thought) I had a old Money back up file that I hoped would get me back up and running, but I could not restore this file because every time I tried I got the message "Please insert the next backup disk (The disk containing file "My Money Backup d2.mbf)"... I have just begun to use the money program on my PDA. At first it only
showed the money logo on the today screen but now I'm getting all of my
account balances shown also. I am wondering if there is any way to keep the
Money Logo on the today screen without having all of my account balances
showing up there also. Is there a way to remove the money logo from the
today screen and just keep it on the start menu?

If you customize the today screen to show no accounts, it'll just have a
line 'tap here to start using Money' next to the 'M' logo. To remove them,
click start->settings->today, click the Items tab and choose the Money
entry. Click 'options' and remove the accounts.
