    - Cash transactions I set up a new investment account and the transactions like buys, sells and dividends are not be recorded in the Cash Transaction section of that account.     - Control Money importing and updating When I first ran Money after install, I found it has already made an account - with a name that I recognise as one I use (e.g. in my attempts at Excel budgets). Where does Money look for and import such data? How do I stop it from rifling through my documents? Also, how do I tell it to only update from the internet with my permission?     - Money Shuts down immediately after open Hi, I am currently using Money 2004. Money was working fine up until last night. The only change I have done is backup up all my files (Money files included) to an external hard drive. At this time I noticed a Money file with a .lrd extension that was on my backup drive but not on my main drive (so I deleted it, would appear to be a mistake!!). Now if I open my .mbf file, Money opens, asks me to restore, asks for my password for my file (which I enter), and then opens with my data for the briefest of time and then the program shuts down, does not freeze, just disappears. If I then try to open the newly created .mny file it does the same thing, asks for my password (which I enter), Money then opens with my data for the briefest of time and then the program shuts down. I have tried opening Money and creating a new file. Then from within Money open and either restore or repair the old files, but I get the same result or it will open and just freeze. Help.     - Money Banking Services Update. I am trying to follow the instructions to update the banking services for Money 2007 When I get to the page where I should "Cancel Online Services" if I try to click the OK button...nothing happens. It's as if it's not available. I've tried closing and opening the program. I've tried rebooting. What the h** is going on? Has anyone else had this problem? what else am i supposed to do?     - Online Services Update I have not been able to get Money 2007 (with XP Pro) to download my credit card information from Pentagon Federal Credit Union for years. Now that the system has been upgraded I still have the same problem. I went onto MSN and was able to download reset all information and the download to MSN did work. When I try in Money I continually get the message that the account is being updated and I should try again later.     - Web Browsing on my Ameritrade Really like the Money 2007 interface, tightly integrating the browser is a great way to integrate all the other online accounts and services. I've set up all my financial browser links and don't even bother opening the browser when I'm checking potential investments. Direct access to my bank server is so much better than the old download method. Ahead of its time IMHO. Couple of observations/ questions If anyone know someone connected with the software, I'd like to pass along a suggestion to see easier access to web favorites. Right now its a 3 click process to access a web link, it would be nice to have more direct access. There is another problem, when I visit my ameritrade account and try to start (what I believe to be) a java application (for stock streaming). The java window opens and prompts me to re-enter my ameritrade account name and password. Opon doing this it simply re-directs me to the home page of the account and never starts the streamer. I've tried turning off all pop-up blockers to no avail. Is there some browser setting or is there a way to make it a trusted site to avoid this problem?     - AT&T acquistion of BellSouth I own stock in AT&T and BellSouth and have each account entered including several years of reinvested dividends. I'm using Money 2003. How do I record the AT&T acquisition of BellSouth? I tried entering it as a merger, and this yielded the correct amount of BellSouth shares but did not combine the accounts. Thanks!     - Problems after Online Banking Update After the recent online banking update, I am unable to use several of my accounts with online banking. As instructed after the update, I disabled online services to several accounts and then tried to set them up again. Alas, but many accounts that used to be available are now gone! My primary bank accounts (at Bank of America Military Bank), as well as Dell Financial Services, and Best Buy don't even show up anymore! I can't re-enable online services to these accounts because they no longer appear in the institution list during setup. Is MS Money working on the issue, or did they just arbitrarily stop offering online services with several major institutions? Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I revert to the earlier, pre-upgraded online services where all my accounts integrated just fine? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.     - Bank of America Bill Payment Dates Hey guys, I have been using BOA for bill payments through Money for a while. A few months ago my payments started showing up in my register up to one week earlier in dates and dont fix untill the payment posts on the day I actually set it up to pay. This is annoying becouse my money register is never accurate becouse of this. Anyone know now to make it so when I schedule EPAYments they show the correct date in the register?????     - Merging Accounts limited to JUST ONE MONTH? As requested - I changed my ONLINE account set-up for MONEY 2006 as per your online instructions - thank you. I turned OFF my account. Then re-setup and re-downloaded the current data. After doing this, without any warning, I learn mid merge that my re-downloaded account and my previous updated account will only be merged for the beginning of JULY. (the current month) YIKES! I had a years worth of data there. What do I do? Am I now to have 2 separate checking account records for this year, pre JULY and post JULY, or is there a way I can "import" my other data?.     - Manual statement download after banking update After July 19th update bank account institution no longer listed. Followed instuctions for update to work for Money 2007 with this and other accounts other institutions that did not show password text box. Since the one bank was no longer listed tried to manually download statement from using OFX file. File downloaded and text box appeared as usual stating file import complete, but file did not update in account register and no register review shown on money home page.     - Changes Keep Getting Lost After the recent Microsoft Money upgrades, I am having so many problems I am considering no longer using the program. I have made numerous changes to transcations and my changes keep reverting back when I reopen Money 2007. Also when I open Money 2007, My Excel 2007 crashes.     - SunTrust Auto-Download Not Working after Banking Upgrade I have been automatically downloading transactions from SunTrust since I installed MS$ 2007 Deluxe last year. I have done this without having to signup (for a fee of 5.95/month) with SunTrust for MS$ support. AFter the MS Banking Upgrade, I had to re-establish my SunTrust account with MS$.     - Which credit card gives the best rewards ? Which credit card gives the best rewards ? I have had a Capital One (US) visa card for many years. I always pay my visa bill on time. I am fed up of them. In the last 2 months they have stopped 6 transactions. When I call them they claim they suspected a fraudulent person was using the card. Even though I have always used my card to pay companies like State Farm...their computers flagged it as fraud. I cannot depend on them. They will probably not be there when I really need them.     - Bank of America Automatic Synchronization? Bank of America technical support is telling me that they don't have any automatic synchronization capability between their online banking and Microsoft Money. They support downloading a CSV file, but since this is for my parents, I'm sure it would never happen in a million years. They are far too computer challenged to do that, and it's a hassle anyway. I want the convenience of daily automatic updates that show new transactions. First, is the information I received correct, or is there actually a way to automatically synchronize? Second, if BOFA cannot do this, then the next question is which banks have the best automatic synchronization with Microsoft Money?     - money 2007 - no portfolio views after upgrade from 2006 Hi. I read the exchange that MVPs had with wurth51 ("Subject: Money 2007 portfolio problem with showing " 6/18 & 6/19. I am having the same problem. I followed all the steps you provided but have not made any process. SSl2.0 is on, I reset my internet options, I blew away my IE Temp files. When I click portfolio, I get no columns or rows. Nor are there any commands available/visibe on the left side of the portfolio screen. I can look at individual accounts via the accounts menu, and see my holding accurately reported, but can not look at an account summary. I'm running XP and have verified that I do have Money's SP2.     - Tracking Foreign Stocks in Portfolio Manager Hi I am evaluating the trial version of Money 2007 and it can do everything that I want it to do with the exception of correctly tracking foreign stocks. The problem is that of the calculation of Cost Basis (Book cost). I have a number of stocks quoted on the London and European exchanges. When I record a "Buy", money asks me for the exchange rate and correctly calculates the Base Currency cost of the transaction. However, in the Portfolio review, if the exchange rate then changes, the Pounds Sterling and Euro stocks then show an incorrect Book Cost (both in local and base currency) which appears to be based on the Current exchange rate, rather than the "Booked" exchange rate that was entered when the stock was bought. This is quite obviously wrong, as the Cost of the transaction should not change over time. Because of this error, it means that all the Gain/Loss and Return calculations are incorrect, making the portfolio manager and investment valuation and performance reports unusable. If I enter the same stock transactions in Quicken, their Portfolio manager correctly reports the unrealized gain/loss. However, Quicken does not support automatic updating of non-US stocks - catch 22 situation!! As an aside, another really useful feature would be to be able to analyse the gain/loss split by both price appreciation and exchange rate movement. I notice that I am not the first person in this forum to raise this issue.     - Strange Discrepancy in Budget Calculations--Any Ideas? I'm using the Microsoft Money 2007 (Deluxe) advanced Budget feature. I've been using Money for a number of years without any problem, but recently noticed this weird and very annoying discrepancy in its calculations. I'm sure it is some sort of problem with a way the data was entered, but I can't figure out where the error is. At any rate, here is the most basic way to describe the problem: When I created my budget, I budgeted $745 for my January rent (and it is still displayed this way in the screens to edit my budget). Yet, when I view either the "Budget summary" for January or view a "report" from that month, it mysteriously tells me that I have actually budgeted $1490 for rent that month, and screws up all the rest of the monthly totals. It only happens with this particular budget category and only for this particular month. The only way to get the reports and summaries to display correctly is to go back to edit the budget details and enter $0 for January. Then, the Reports and Summaries correctly note that I have $745 budgeted for that month (even though I entered $0). I actually did this back in January, but then just realized that doing this ended up screwing up my totals in the details of my actual budget, so I had been thinking I had $745 more dollars than I actually had these past few months!!     - Transfer Dates Between Accounts I have not been able to figure this out. When I say, pay a credit card bill from checking, the date that it posts to my checking account will be different form the date it posts to the CC account. The problem: If I use the "Transfer: CC Account" category the dates in each account will be the same. This doesn't make sense, how often do transfers post to each account on the same day?     - Money, Electronic Payments and Regions Bank Hello, Since Microsoft's update to Money AND the merger of my bank with another bank 1 week ago, I have been unable to create/submit new electronic payments to my bank. My problem is trying to figure out if its the update or the merger that happened at nearly the same time that is causing the problem. Reaching my bank has been very problematic since the money updates and the merger. It would seem there is a large number of people having issues. The error message I am receiving when trying to submit new payments is paraphrased below: _____________________________________________________ Your transaction was not processed for the the following reason: Your request to pay XXX to XXXX on Friday, August 3, 2007 was not processed. If you see this message again, contact your bank or brokerage. More details: A general error has occurred. _____________________________________________________ This sounds like a bank problem to me, but I'm asking the group for their opinion. To resolve this, I have tried to repair the money file. I have also tried to create a new money file as a test and submit a payment from the new file. I've also reinstalled Money. I CAN however update all my accounts. The Regions bank account that I am having the problem submitting new electronic payments as well as credit card accounts. Any ideas?     - BOA Pay Bill Online Option--Suddenly Gone! This morning I went to pay my husband's BOA payment online (using my husband's login) and the Bill Pay tab is saying I can't pay the bill now until I set up a BOA checking account. I have ALWAYS paid my online payment using my own bank's checking account on their website. However, when I login as myself for a different BOA account, I can still pay my bill using Bill Pay. The difference is that his payment due has just posted. My payment will not be posted until the 27th. Has anyone else noticed that their Bill Pay section is suddenly gone?     - Bank of America Credit Card accounts won't set up Hi, I have Money 2007 Premium. I waited until the July 19th update was complete. I have had no trouble except for trying to set up online updates for my 2 Bank of America Credit Cards. I am in Ohio so I use the Bof A(allexcept CA, WA, &ID). I imput all my info for both cards correctly but when it tries to update I get a box saying the sign in with your financial institution failed.     - Two Investments, Same Symbol Let me start by saying, I've done searches on this newsgroup, read a number of folks complaining of the same problem I am running into, and am completely familiar with the concept of having a single "investment" in Money, and selecting it in two different accounts. I just say that because I want folks to read the details carefully for my problem, instead of giving the stock answer that applies in almost all of these situations. I'm also aware that the answer to my question may end up being, "You can't do that", which is fine. Okay, here's the situation - my wife worked for ExxonMobil, and while there she received stock options - some of which have been exercised and the stock kept, as well as having her employer make contributions of stock to a ESOP in her 401k. The 401k has online updates available with the online services, but it reports the investment as "ExxonMobil Company ESOP Stock", rather than just a purchase of XOM. Since I already have the stock in our portfolio with the symbol XOM, it won't let me assign that symbol to the ESOP investment. I've also tried changing the name of the stock to match the reported ESOP, but it tells me I've already got an investment of that name. I've tried combining the two, but the ESOP doesn't appear in the list of things I'm allowed to combined it with (probably because Money thinks the ESOP is a mutual fund, and it ALSO won't allow me to switch it to a stock, because there are transactions on it that don't match what Money thinks constitutes a stock). All I want to do here is have my automatic updates get the updated stock price for XOM and assign it to the ESOP, without my having to manually update the price. Is there any way for this to work?     - still cant update I do the online update and all i get is a red ! with no error msg but when i click the read call summary button it says last call completed 7/11/07 and states "your account information is being updated, which may take a few minutes. My recivables account is in us and my bank is in cdn. I want my recivables to
