I just opened a new investment account and put it into MS Money 2008 H&B.
The account was started on 7/10/08 and I started it with a zero balance and
confirmed that the zero balance shows in the account settings as the
starting amount. If I go to portfolio manager and look at the account the
correct balances show from 7/16/08 through today. If I look at portfolio
manager for any earlier date the amount of cash is shown incorrectly. If I
look in portfolio manager for the account and change the date to 6/15/08
(before the account even existed) it shows a large positive cash balance. I
even went into the account and made every transaction as void and the same
large cash balance shows. I did a detailed and quick repair with no fix.
How can it possibly be wrong until 7/16/08 (when I made a sale of a fund)
and then magically the cash balance and everything else is now correct.

Would appreciate any help.

Well I have more information. The "account balance" showing before the
account was ever opened is exactly equal to the amount of 2 transactions
that I have in my account register but these 2 transactions are marked as
void. Why would Money show this as the cash balance before the account is
open?

When you look at the cash transactions register, sorted by date
(Increasing), how does the Balance column look with respect to your
expectations?

The cash balance is exactly correct. The very first transaction in the
register (by date) show the correct balance to the right under balance. The
first transaction is a deposit so that number shows in deposit and the exact
same number shows in balance. I even started a brand new account again and
was able to duplicate the problem with only having a few transactions. If I
delete the voided transaction everything is fine and the balance is zero for
all dates prior to the start of the account.

I am glad you found a solution.

I would not exactly call it a solution, it is a bug. I just created a new
account with no transactions and everything showed the way it is supposed to.
I then put in a transaction to buy a mutual fund and take the cash from the
cash portion of the account. I then voided the transactions and the same
problem appears.
