    - Unable to retrieve contact card info on certain people or spaces link Hello I have certain people attached to my MSN spaces account that I cannot access today. I know they have not taken me off their list so I think it is a server problem because the message I get is as follows: "We are unable to access this space at this time. Please try back another time.". This issue has also shown up when I attempt to access my contact space through MSN Messenger. When I attempt to retrieve either their spaces page directly or their contact card, which is associated with MSN MEssenger, I also receive this message.     - Old version starts OK.. Can anyone tell me why I get people messaging me onto an old version 4.7 of MSN when 1) I didn't open ANY version of MSN, 2) I don't see any version open in the system tray, and 3) I can't even find v4.7 in my programs?     - I can't sign-in and there is no error code Hello, I got this new notebook and installed live messenger on it. Then I tried to log in but it seems that the log-in process takes forever. It does not stop and there is no error messenge popping out. I then used windows messenger to sign in the same ID and it successfully signed me in. Does anybody know what is going on? Thanks.     - Previous Conversations I need to see previous conversations on a PC in my office. I believe someone has been using my Messenger to chat after hours. This machine doesn't have the save previous conversations option set. So, I don't see the previous conversations in the window. Are these written to a file and if so, where does it exist?     - Error Code 80004005 (v7.5.036) Hi, just yesterday I randomly started getting this error. The first day it I couldn't sign in so I used web messenger (man I hate that) for a bit and then I could sign in a couple hours later out of no where pretty much. Today the same problem but I can't sign in at all.. It's becoming an occuring problem. I'm a software dev, so by no means a noob that is having a firewall issue or something of that nature. No settings have been touched at all in the past couple of days, so I'm not sure why it has gone from fine to semi working to now not working. I have tried the deleting of the contacts and host files (as this has been a suggested attempt to fix this problem it seems) to no avail. Any help would be great. Thanks.     - Messenger Stops responding immediately Sirs, I have been having a problem with my MSN messenger for a couple of days .. First with version 7.5 and now with LIVE as well .. both versions exibit the same problem. ... Be advised .. 7.5 worked fine for a long time .. and without making any other changes to my system .. suddenly when i would try to sign on .. the program screen would appear .. I would eventually appear to log on, but then the prog would freeze ... and stop responding.... I tried unistall and re-install of both that .. then upgraded to Live version .. same problem ... still cant use it .. other pc's in the house use the 7.5 version .. no problem .. I have read all the info i can find on this issue .. but have found nothing to resolve the prob ... It is not a firewall issue, as my windows firewall is correctly configured to allow it ... and the prob exists even when the firewall is off ... I have all the latest updates available for my XP professional platform ... Please, do you have any resolution to this issue ... or can you at least tell me where to look ... PS ...     - Delete all contacts so they need to reauthorize...help? Good Evening, Seems with all instant messengers things get hairy after a while - either your contact list is full of people you don't remember who or where they are... or you've got so many people on block you don't remember why? Worse yet you delete a contact and one day they send you an IM and you have no idea who they are. Is there a way (or can it be a future feature) to remove contacts and revoke the authorization? I don't want to change email addresses and blocking endlessly seems silly. I'm proposing a way to revoke the authorization you granted them in the first place (if you have that feature turned on). Thus removing your name from THEIR contact list and blocking them at the same time. I've never been fond of giving up and changing emails...     - MSN 8.0 does not start with WIN XP PRO When I start Windows Live Messenger, it pops up the Logon screen. I then log in and it show the Contacts (and the contacts can see me breifly). The Windows Installer popup then shows up, trying to install something and then disappears along with Windows Live Messenger. Say the least, this is frustrationg.     - Confused about MSN and Yahoo Messenger I wish someone could help me. I am using MSN Messenger 7.5. Also I recently downloaded and started to use Yahoo Messenger with Voice 8.0 I was under the impression that I could add my MSN contacts to Yahoo Messenger so that I could now have both Yahoo and MSN contacts on the same messenger (yahoo) While both were running I noticed that a MSN contact was online in MSN Messenger. I then checked Yahoo Messenger but the same contact was showing offline. Bases on my understanding, I was expecting to see the MSN contact online in Yahoo Messenger as well. What am I doing wrong.     - Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX Plus Hi, I have recently bought this webcam and had no problem using it at home with messenger 7.5. However having tried to use it with my laptop which has Live Messenger I seem to be unable to connect to certain people. Its always the same people I am unable to connect to, and am also unable to view their webcam. Has anyone else encountered this problem, or have any ideas how I could fix it??     - Problem with status at Live Messenger I am using Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812.00. I have two accounts (let's say account1 and account2.) I cann log on with both accounts but with one of them I am currently having problems.- When I log on with account1 I can see my contacts status' properly but all my contacts see me as "offline" no matter which my status is. This happens everytime I log in at a Live messenger, I have test it at 4 different PCs and always happens the same. However if I log in with another client my contacts see me properly. The problem is quite strange as if I log on with account2 I have no problems and my contacts can see my status properly.     - Background change causes WLM to close I have been using WLM ver 8.0 since beta intro several months ago. I have used the 'released' version for awhile now, with no problems. Decided i needed background change....went to tools/my backgrounds, opened it and immediately received message saying 'WLM needs to close'. So....tried several times with same result.     - Hotmail day/date conundrum ?.... Hello I have a question. Why is it that the day of the week is present in Hotmail only after the original sender of a message gets a reply. If you look below the reply at the senders original message, you will see day of the week, date and time. If you look at the original message in the sent folder, only the date and time is visible. Also, the message from the person replying only shows date and time. Why? This has nothing to do with the 'show original souce' feature, I am just talking about the way a standard message looks.     - Sign in problem with Live Messenger I am getting Error Code: 80048820 and Extended Error Code: 80048439 I have tried all the suggestions listed for other people, I have tried to System Restore, I have uninstalled and re-installed the older version of MSN, and Internet Explorer, they all don't work. Nothing that I know of was changed in the system, it just stopped working one day.     - Contacts Can't Add Me! A while ago I changed my email account to gmail and created a .net passport so I could access live messenger. I imported my contact list and everything was working out fine. However some people started telling me that I wasn't accepting their invitations to their contact list, and I realized that when someone adds me to their list, the window asking "if I want to allow that person....", doesn't show up.     - Messenger and Zone Alarm Security Suite G'day, I run MSN Messenger and Zone Alarm Security Suite. When I sign into MSN while ZASS is running, I can't see display pictures, the songs people are listening to and their personal message, although I can still see nicknames and messages. Someone posted a link in one of the messenger newsgroups on how to configure ZASS (specifically, getting rid of the IMSecure feature permanently) by booting into safe mode, and editing and removing certain files. Despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to find this link. Does anyone still have it?     - Windows Live Call - Hot Potato!- Although people can hear me, Iâ??m unable to hear any sound when making a telephone call from my computer to a regular land phone using the Windows Live Call / Verizon service. All hardware and applications work well except for this one. I was able to narrow down the problem to my router â??a brand new Liksys WRT55AG- . In other words, the service works only when the router is not in the picture. I contacted Windows Live Call customer support and, in short, they told me what I already knew. Then I tried Linksys customer support and they suggested I call Messenger support to find out the ports needed to use this service, which I will have to configure from the router interface.     - corrupt? Hi, I have an account in hotmail that I have had for several years. This account has given me trouble for a long time. Contacts were online but I couldn't see them or they couldn't see me. Because of the problems, I have opened a new account and have added this old account to it. I have used both accounts at the same time with my pc and laptop to see if I can message each account. Also I have the polygamy patch so I have tried it on the same pc and laptop with the 2 accounts. Neither of these accounts are blocked for each other, and I have checked all the settings but still the old account has problems to see the new account online.     - Webcam settings help!! Hi, I have an IBM PCWebcam, Win98se. The cam works great on it's own and until I added Yahoo Messenger (which it does work with) it worked fine with MsnMessenger also.     - Shared Folders cause Live Messenger to crash Running with Shared Folders enabled causes Messenger to eat up 100% cpu cycles, system becomes unresponsive and reboots.     - Nothing has helped with Error 80072efd! I can not log into Windows Live Messenger and it gives me error 80072efd. I've tried all of Jonathan Kays' suggestions. I have 3 computers connected to the internet through a fire wall. I can sign in on the other 2 with any of my accounts. Its only on the 1 where I can't. I do not have a firewall installed. I added Windows Live Messenger to Windows Firewall to no avail. I've deactivated the fire wall to no avail. I've re-activated, de-activated, deleted and re-added to Windows Firewall and that didn't work. I've checked my Internet Explorer options, cleared my cache, deleted temporary files, I've deleted the account and Destop.ini from %userprofile%\contacts. I've deleted the account and Desktop.ini from %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts. None of that worked. This didn't work: Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL 3.0' is checked, then click OK. I've tried this: Click Start, then Run, and enter the following: regsvr32 softpub.dll then click OK and do the same for the following: regsvr32 wintrust.dll regsvr32 initpki.dll regsvr32 MSXML3.dll None of this worked....can anyone please help.     - Repeated offline message with Messenger v8.0.0792.00 I have a situation where a message that was sent to me while I was offline keeps being resent whenever I log in for the first time each day.     - Messenger Live Window Title THE PROBLEM: I've installed MSN Live Messenger (v8.0.0812.00) on all of our WinXP machines. On SOME of the PCs, when someone starts a messenger conversation, the window title is "[name] - Conversation". On other PCs, the window title is just "[name]". QUESTION: Can someone explain to me why this is and how to make them all the same (preferable with " - Conversation" after the name)? EXTRA NOTES: Maybe the ones with "[name] - Conversation" are like that because of remnants left over from a previous version of MSN Messenger. "Why do I care what the window title is" you ask? Well, I have a script that I've written in Automate (Automation software) that basically watches out for new "windows" that have a window title of "* - Conversation". Hi, I have a customer who wants to lock out access to MSN messenger, it appears that firewall rules on his router would be tricky as messenger tries to connect to MS servers via many ports and these ports change as the applet develops. So perhaps a (Win XP) registry edit would do it? Any info available please on which Keys to edit to stop it running would be appreciated.
