Greetings,

In the error that apologizes for the inconvenience of Messenger shutting down, click the
"click here" link -- in the next screen, you'll see something like the
following: szAppName : msnsmgr.exe szAppVer : 7.0.0777 szModName : rpcrt4.dll

If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.

We have the same problem, but no apology message. Logging in is OK, but as
soon as I open a conversation window, MSN Messenger just closes down a second
later, without any messages. We have tried uninstalling and downloading the
latest version several times, but the problem continues.

Please, help!

Hi,

You might try rebuilding your client cache. To do so, click Start, then Run, then type:
%appdata%\microsoft
and click OK.

Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and choose Delete. After all this, restart Messenger
and see if the problem has been corrected.
