Can anybody Help!!!
Whenever i try to log into MSN Messenger 6 my computer tells me that my
password is incorrect
I use the same password to get into Hotmail and it works
It also works with Windows Messenger
Can anybody tell me what is wrong?

messenger 6.0 router and voicechat
I know many have asked before, but I got no appropriate
answer as everybody is using another system.
I am on windows 2000, no extra firewall. But since I use a
router with integrated firewall (Netgear RP614) and now
messenger 6.0 I am not able to connect for voicechat with
anybody and get following errormessage:
"Your computer, Internet provider, or network may not
support audio conversations or video conferences."
Webcam is working perfect. Voice on yahoomessenger is
perfect too. The router seems to support microsoft
messenger, so it says. I tried to configure the router,
but it is asking for a portnumber (for messenger, I
think). The mixture of msn for cam and yahoo for voice is
working, but not the best solution. Any experience how to

messenger 6.0 won't install
I have tried dozens of times to upgrade to mess6.0, and
every time I get a "messenger has encountered a problem
and needs to close" message, and it won't work. I have
tried closing all programs, including my NAV, installing
in safe mode, removing all previous copies of messenger
and it is the same thing every time. Now I'm wondering if
I should just go back to the old system ift I can find out
where to download it. We do have messenger plus
installed, I don't know if that could be messing things

Invalid Dynamic Link Call to a .DLL file
i downloaded messenger 6.0 the other day and now every
time i try to sign in, an error message comes up saying"
your program is making an invalid dynamic link call to
a .DLL file". and then when i click the ok box it shuts
messenger down completely. is there any way i can fix
this so that i can sign in all the way and use

Webcam issue
I'm on xp home edition and using a premacam TC111-a. It works fine in the
audio/video wizard but in the webcam settings all i get is a black screen,
have got the latest drivers installed and the cam works on Yahoo

background
I've once downloaded a background for the main menu for
MSN messenger, before I had MSN 6.
I removed the background or it just disappeared, I don't
remember, but anyway it was gone.
Now I've just installed MSN 6 and suddenly that background
that I installed months ago shows up again but now at MSN

Can't establish voice chat w/ friend behind ICF
Hello :)
This is a strange one. I can't establish a voice chat
with a friend that's using the XP ICF. I was under the
impression that the ICF opens all the neccessary ports
for MSN, but from some reason it seems to be failing to
do this. We have absolutely no problems establishing a
voice chat with Windows Messenger - everything works
perfectly - but for some reason MSN doesn't want to "play
ball". We're 100% sure the ICF's at fault here because
when it's on we can't make a voice connection, when it's
off MSN's voice chat works just fine. Also, out of all my
contacts he's the only one using the XP ICF, everyone
else uses different software firewalls and I don't have
any problems with them :-/
Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing this
problem?

Audio oddity
I tried out webcam and audio connections with a friend who is, like me,
using MSN Messenger 6 on an XP Pro system. We are both using Logitech
Quickcam Pros (mine a 3000, his a 4000). He was using a separate microphone,
and I was using the webcam's built-in mic. I could always hear and see him,
but most of the time he could not hear me at all. When he could, it was
right at the start of the connection, but never for more than a few seconds.
This was despite always being able to see the green 'VU' meters bobbing up
and down next to both images, so I assume that my audio was getting in to my
PC - it just wasn't getting sent or perhaps received. When I switched to a
separate microphone, these problems went away and we both enjoyed excellent
audio and video.
I removed the QoS service on my connection as per the advice elsewhere on
this forum, but this problem still crops up whenever I use the built-in
Logitech mic.
As I'd rather use the built-in microphone, does anyone have any idea why
this should be the case, and is there a workaround? I shall be testing out a
bluetooth headset with it later - hopefully that will work as well as the
wired microphone.

MSN Messenger 6 Freezing
Everytime I start up MSN Messenger 6, it freezes after
signing in. I've tried reparing and reinstalling but
nothing. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional. Can

MSN Messenger 6.0
I have just installed msn messenger 6.0 and two net
passport accounts. When I try to log out one of my account
and simultaneouly log onto another by typing in the ID and
password, the messenger did not immediately initiate and
seemed hang-up for about 20 minutes before it started to
log in successfully. I have checked my internet connection
and it was working well.
How can I solve the problem?
Or where can I download the old version of MSN Messenger
5.0?

Jibberish text in MSN6
I have a problem little finger on my left hand and many
times when I attempt to hit the shift key I also
accidently hit the Ctrl or Start key. After this happens
when I type jibberish comes out in the text line of my
chat message. The only way I have found to change this
is to exit messenger then re-start. What is happening and
is there an easier way to get back to normal English text

Message history problem
It seems that MSN 6 does not update the message log when I close the message
window. After long waiting the log appears. I'm using the Messenger Plus!,
Plus logs are saved correctly.
Is there possibility that Plus! interferes somehow with MSN 6 own logging
feature?

Please help me out
I signed in once when i first installed msn messenger 6
and accidently checked the remember my password box and
now anyone can sign into my account by simply clicking on
one button. I tried signing into a different account to
get rid of my saved password but this did not help me. I
read a help topic about deleting my passport from user
accounts in control panel, the document told me to select
the advanced tab but my user accounts does not have this
anywhere. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM, I have tried to fill
the contact us form out 6 times only to have an error
occur so I emailed hotmail staff with NO RESPONSE. I
looked for various ways to contact someone, no actually
to contact ANYONE! but this is the only form of contact
that you will actually read. This problem occured
yesterday and since then MANY of my emails have been read

New version of Windows Messenger
Will there be a new version of Windows Messenger so that
it has the same features as MSN messenger v6? I sure hope
so as I am sick of the conflicts on my WinXP machine but
I would like the advantages that MSN messenger v6 has.
Also is there anyway I can unistall Windows messenger? It
does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list in
control Panel.

MSN 6.0 Not working...
I've successfully installed MSN 6.0, but as soon as it
starts up and logs me in, it simply quits and
disappears. I don't get a dialog box or anything. If
anyone has any info, please, by all means help me. If it

Veo Webcam Problem FINALLY SOLVED!!!!!
Ok, thanks to thanks to Geeven Singh telling me to go on through the error
and use the other option for cam ( I think that is what he meant for me to
do if not coincidence was on my side), I got my Veo webcam to work.
Aparently the Audio/Video Wizard uses the old codec for webcam detection and
setting it up; this meant that in order to detect the veo webcam it needed
to route the stream through the VFW Mapper. The webcam chat on the otherhand
does NOT need the VFW Mapper, in fact it does not find the stream from the
webcam if the VFW Mapper is used. This explains why my cam showed in the
Audio/Video Setup Wizard, but not in webcam settings. So for those with Veo
Webcams, simply go into Audio/Video Tuning wizard and choose the option for
your cam WITHOUT the VFW Mapper For Messanger [sic], you will get an error
that comes up when you choose the one with out the VFW mapper, ignore it and
proceed on through the Audio/Video Wizard as normal. Go to Webcam Settings

task manager/Processes.
I know about the MS Outlook fix, but I do not have that

MSN 6 Bug on emoticons?
Hi... I love new emoticons...
Is it ok that some animated emoticons stop after 1 or 2 cicles?
example: crying face ":'(" will loop forever, but eye rolling smilley "8-)"
will stop after one loop.
So if i send a message to someona, and include a rolling smiley, if the
reader is distracted by anything before reading the mesage, it will loose
the animation effect, hence, the emotion transmited by that emoticon...

When my screensaver becomes active it changes my status
to away. Messenger 6.0 cannot change my status after this

msn 6 NOT working
I installed msn 6 today, and everything works fine..
except that I can't send messages! When I try to send
someone a message, I automatically get a "could not be
delivered to recipient thing" I know there's nothing wrong
with my connection. I had the old version this morning and
everything was working fine. I tried uninstalling msn 6
hoping my 5 would come back but it uninstalled everything
and now there's nowhere I can get version 5 again. I don't
know when version 6 was released but I am already NOT
happy with it as it has been extremely frustrating! It's

Messenger 6.0 Launch Site Problem
I've got a problem with the Messenger 6.0 Launch Site.
Below the Activities menu, the only option/game available
is the "Tic-Tac-Toe". I've tried re-installing several

That Worked Great
My sister and I are both on Win XP pro, Linsys Router
BEFSR41, Intel NIC card (both of ours were enabled) we
disabled them. After figuring out that she did not have
the most current update for the linksys, she installed
that and now we work PERFECTLY. We tried disabling the
QoS Packet, and that seemed to make no difference either
way.
I also work great with my son overseas who is on XP home,
but he is not on a router, and no firewall.
My other son on dial up doesn't seem to be working yet. I
get his video but not audio yet, he gets my video and

- The most embarassing question ever asked, anywhere...
Okay, this is without a doubt the most embarassing question I've ever asked.
And that says a lot.
My MSN Messenger has been auto-logging into the service for a year... ditto
with the hotmail email check. I never have to enter my password.
Now I need to log in from another computer and can't remember my password.
Keeping in mind that my original computer obviously knows it and has a
cookie auto-logging me in... where can I retrieve this password?
None of the hints are helping me. :( I need to uncover the actual password
stored somewhere on my own computer.

I have been using Messenger on my computer at work, and it
has generally worked fine up until yesterday... now it
keeps giving me a "Signing in failed because you do not
have the correct UserID and password for your network's
HTTP proxy server" message. I have checked both IE's

Deploying MSN 6
Seems like MSN 6 is not for the business enviorment
however we like MSN 6 due to all the features. Is there a
way to deploy MSN 6 over a corporate network?
ALso We use MSN 6 and create .NET accounts which takes
the hugh load off of us from buying a server, costs,
maintiance etc buy haiving a messenging server from
Exchange. We also get to reserve our own accounts in our
domain name.
Is there a way to script the configeration of MSN 6?
Example would be to save the messenger logs to a network
drive, disable the ability for a user to disconnect MSN
6, and to script the user accounts in MSN 6.

Is MSN Messenger 6.0 designed to *not* be installed on business computers?
It seems to demand that all other versions of Messenger--including Windows
Messenger--be uninstalled first. Thankfully, the installer warns that MSN
Messenger does *not* include support for Exchange Instant Messaging and the
Communications Service. So it seems that many business users will be unable
to install MSN Messenger 6.0.
Is MSN Messenger's .NET Messaging interface compatible with Windows

MSN6, options in XP not in 2000
Someone told me about unclick a box and 'putting me in
busy and full screen apps' blah blah for audible beep. On
windows 2000 with MSN 6 that option is 'not' available, at
home on my XP it is available and "no" it doesn't beep
when I am in game and I get messaged. Just wanted to make
sure you know that. It's irritating because I have people
messaging me while I am in game and I don't hear a beep.

In MSN Messenger 6 there are tabs on the left such as
travel, carpoint, msnbc, etc...
I remember in a previous version I could disable them,
however I don't find this option in MSN 6.

Hi,
I'm using Windows XP, with MSN 6.0. The problem here is,
I can't accept or invite my friends for the games that
are available from the 'Launch Site'.
All the time I am having the following message.
Messenger is unable to start Bejeweled.
or
XXX cannot accept your invitation to start Bejeweled.
Do you guys having any ideas on this issue?

Can't see other's picture
I'm using MSN Messenger 6.0 (6.0.0602). My friends (also
using MSN6) can see the picture that I set for myself, but
I cannot see theirs. The picture I see for others is the
default MSN-little-guy-with-butterfly. There are other
people who can see my friends' pictures, so it's not their

unable to sign in to MSN Messenger
After having trouble with MSN Messenger, I have
uninstalled it and redownloaded and installed MSN
Messenger version 6. I don't have any other trouble with
accessing Web sites, but when I try to log onto MSN I get
a message that says:

"Sorry, we could not sign you in because the sign-in name
you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect."
********
I know the sign-in name is from a valid Passport account
because I have used it in the past with no trouble. I also
have not changed my password nor have I forgotten it.
Also, others have tried to log on to MSN with my new
installation and they can't get on either.
Could anyone specuate as to what the trouble is?

Display Picture & Background problem
I have a problem with the display pictures and backgrounds
in Messenger 6.0.
It seems that whenever I sign out or close Messenger,
the "default" background changes back to the MSN Default
background, even though I selected "Set as Default". The
same happens to my display picture - when I sign out, it
changes to a random picture instead of the one I had
previously chosen.
Is there a way to make the backgrounds and display
pictures stay as you had chosen them, even when you sign

I try to secure MSN 6.0 for a kiosk computer, there fore
msn may not running in the background. When a user clicks
on the X it must be closed.
