hi

is it possible to encrypt the content of chat communication? i mean
that every single bit of text should not be readable even by the people
who hosts the messenger server (it's not a matter of mistrust about the
msn network! it's simply a mandatory requirement about classified
corporate information....).

is it possible for audio or video?

(if not, can you kindly suggest me an IM service which provide this
kind of ability?)

thank you in advance ;-)

Greetings,

Simp allows you to encrypt your Messenger text conversations:
http://www.secway.fr/us/products/simplite_msn/home.php?PARAM=us,ie

but the only thing that i can think off hand that does secure voice/video [for free] is
Skype, http://www.skype.com.

Not really, I've been using it since they released it.

:-D thank you for your prompt reply Jonathan

inlined Off-Topic opinion: skype is technically a very good product,
but it's even more closed (i mean "obscure") than msn net, and tends to
possibly share corporate bandwidth with unknown people; both things are
not exactly my (or my sysadmin) cup of tea...

at least i can use msn network even with open-source (or third-party)
clients, and the protocol seems to be "mostly known", thus it can
"interoperate".... i think both things are increasingly important to at
least a part of security-sensitive people (or to me as an individual
user, btw ;-) )

thank you again

Dedicated encrypted IM: Hushmail Instant Messenger. A Hushmail account
is a prerequisite but a free basic account is available. The client is free.

According to what I read, one can, using the Jabber network, apparently
use GAIM and add encryption to it, even Off The Record (OTR), which says
it is encrypted but leaves no record. I believe that both the Jabber
network and GAIM and add-ons are more open than some of the proprietary
networks.

One solution I have had no success with is Checkpoint's IMSecure.

An earlier iteration of SIMP I could not get to work, for whatever that
is worth.
