    - Audio Problems with MSN Messenget 6.1.0207 OK this one will require a real expert.....I cannot get my audio to work between 2 computers 1) I am using windows XP pro the other computer is using Windows Home edition both are on a high speed cable with Comcast. which uses a terayon tj615 modem. 2) I am also using a Linksys router BEFW11S4 VER 3.2 with the following: Firmware has been upgraded UPnP enabled 3) On my Windows Messenger tools options communication Tab it says "you are connect to the internet through a UPnP IP restricted NAT. The internet connection firewall is enabled ( Administrator) 4) I have tried the audio wizard multiple times. 5) I have also unchecked the QoS packet schedule and rebooted. 6) I removed the Linksys router and connected directly to the network card in the computer and still cannot get sound. 7) The strange part is that one time my voice was being heard on the other end. When we logged off and on again it could not be heard with no changes being made. 8) One other thing I tried was removing the UPnP from windows and reinstalling it. This is driving me crazy!     - How long is this going to go on for?!?!?!?!?!?!!? I have had a hotmail account/messenger account for approx 3 years now and it has been fine up until November of last year. Since then, I have managed to sign in for a maximum of 3 days in a row without problem. The cycle of problems goes like this: Unable to sign in due to password being incorrect (it ISN'T!) Account locked out because of too many Password attempts. Password gets reset. I can log in (this part is usually VERY short lived). I try to edit my profile and it says that I don't have one. My profile DOES exist, but I can't access it to change it. Cycle repeats. I have reported this numerous times using various methods (this board being the most productive) and to be honest, I'm more than a little pissed off with the whole affair!     - doesn't recognise passport My passport is definitely active, I can still sign in to hotmail. However, my MSN messenger and my windows messenger don't sign me in saying that my account doesn't exist or that the password is incorrect. Its become a big pain - I used windows messenger previously, and it worked until I updated to v.5. I downloaded MSN and my passport doesn't work on that either. I'm not behind a firewall and i'm not using a proxy server. Also, possibly unrelated, I can't sign into hotmail using IE - I've started using another browser. It ends up with a "This page cannot be displayed" message after i put in my pass, along with many other pages which caused me to switch to a new browser. I use Windows XP home.     - MSN 9 upgrade works but MSN messenger 6.1 doesn't work I installed the MSN 9 upgrade and love some of the features. I installed from the CD and it automatically upgraded MSN Messenger to 6.1.     - Opinion: Messenger audio&video problems Hi, One quick browse through the relevant newsgroups and it is clear immediately that many users have lots of problems with audio and video in MSN Messenger. And I emphasize lots of problems. Problems that some say are not present on other Messengers, such as the Yahoo! Messenger. When will we have a similar experience on MSN Messenger v6.1 and Windows Messenger v5.0. When will we be able to simply press the Talk or Camera buttons and not be faced with network problems? The problems are usually related to firewalls and nat devices and happen because MSN v6.1 / Windows v5.0 Messenger: 1. Use a random UDP port for video and audio, not a fixed one. This means that firewalls need to be UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) compatible for the port to be opened, something that only the XP firewall is. Also, users need to be logged on as administrators. Why don't you fix this? Why don't you choose a fixed UDP port so that it can be opened once and for all on each firewall? UPNP is advantagious but untill all firewalls implement it (in the next 10 years perhaps), we users will be suffering! A. Choose a fixed UDP port for audio and video. Why not? B. Make the UPNP compatible XP firewall open ports even if the user is a non-administrator. Why do I need to log on as an administrator just for audio and video, or just for a little file transfer or just for another MSN / Windows Messenger so called "advanced" feature? Why? I can do all my work without administrative privileges. I need the XP firewall, as everybody does. Or, why should I be forced to turn it off to have a single audio or video conversation? 2. MSN Messenger v6.1 and Windows Messenger v5.0, need the ip of the other party for audio and video connections, as well as other "advanced" features. But why: A. Couldn't we have non-direct connections. Couldn't the connection pass through a relay server, such as the .NET Messenger service for simple things such as file transfers, instead of being direct pc to pc. Couldn't audio and video do that too? It would be of a lower quality of course but it will work. Not like now that it doesn't! B. Why do you need the ip of the other party anyway? Couldn't MSN / Windows Messenger get the ip of the inviting party from the .NET Messenger Service directly. Why should the inviting party or the receiving party itself have to report their ip? This leads to problems if there is a nat or an Internet Connection Sharing device in between, since one or both of the parties might not know their true Internet ip, but will know the nat translated ip on their respective internal networks. But couldn't MSN / Windows Messenger simply get the "true" Internet ip of each party from the .NET Messenger server itself. After all, doesn't the .NET Messenger Service's server know the "true" ip anyway for instant messaging to work? Why all this fuss about requiring UPNP routers. I know and I agree that UPNP has a lot of potential and that it is an excellent protocol. But forcing it on users in this way is wrong. Instead, make Messenger UPNP aware but also provide an aulternative, (legasy if you will) way of managing connections. Isn't that what Yahoo! Messenger does? Why not MSN Messenger? Thanks, N. P.     - MSN MESSENGER PROBLEMS I have not installed the MSN Messenger update as of yet. I still have the icon at the bottom of my page but it is off. I am worried thast it will be permenantly on if I upgrade. Before, whenever I came online it would automatically come on.     - Sending an IM to Spot watch outside of the US It only took me a couple of days...but i finally worked it out.... How to send a message to a SPOT watch from a country other than the US...and the answer is... When you set your region in your profile on the passport site you need to tick the "Share my other registration information" field...if you don't, the region attribute (GeoID) in the core profile table stays set to region 0...this looks like it then sets your region via your regional passport login machine (or something like that) in my case, Australia...from where i can not send a message to SPOT.... If I go to the properties of my connection, and then "Advanced", then click on "Settings", how do I add MSN Messenger on there?     - WebCam Problem Ok I have got my Digital Video Camera connected to my PC through a iLink cable to a firewire card. When I go into the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard the system can see the picture being transmitted by the camera. It can also hear the audio. However when I click on the WebCam button in Messenger I receive the following error: -------------------------- Your conversation cannot begin because your camera is currently in use or not plugged in. Make sure your camera is available and try again. Technical problems prevent you from having a webcam conversation at this time.     - file xfers in messenger All file transfers from my pc fail. The recipients say that their machines show the transfer completed, but it is 0 bytes and will not open. This happens from 3 different pc's with 3 different os's. There is no firewall on this latest machine, and ICF is disabled.     - Colors wrong in Messenger 6.1, Veo webcam, Windows 98SE When I use my Veo Advanced Connect webcam with MSN Messenger 6.1 (under Windows 98SE), the colors appear wrong. Red tones appear green, and green tones appear magenta. Even when I select "Tools", "Web Camera Settings...", the colors are wrong in the preview window. There's nothing I can adjust that fixes the problem. When I use the same camera with Microsoft NetMeeting, Yahoo! Messenger, or the bundled software the colors are fine.     - MSM causing slowing processing and internet connection I am sure that MSM messanger is causing my PC to hang up and cause a slow internet connection.     - Automatic Sign In When I first signed in, I guess I accidently clicked on the sign me in automatically tab. Now whenever MSN opens, it has my email address and asks if I want to sign in with this account. I do not want it to do this because this computer is used by more then one person and I don't want them to have access to my account. I clicked on the sign in with a different account button, and signed in, but my address still appears there, available for anyone to use my account. How do I remove this? I suspect that someone has stolen the password of a friend of mine. In
fact today i sent a message to this friend but look what i received :

is it possible ?? I always get another message when it is not possible
to deliver the message!!
