no pictures?

I have bought a notebook with Windows Vista on it. Also Messenger Live, I
can log in with my usual name / password from MSN Messenger 7 which I always
used on PC.
I can see all the usual contacts in my list, but they all appear without a
picture. How is this? I have assigned a picture for myself, which appears on
top in the Messenger window, but not in the list. Can't find settings to
adjust this...

Hello Linea,

Navigate to:

Tools -> Options -> General -> "Show display pictures from others"

Make sure that option is checked, if it's not check it whilst signed in and
then restart messenger

I do see a picture in the dialog window when chatting. But I wanted a small
picture (instead of the icon) in the list too, just like I have in MSN
Messenger 7. Is this not possible in Vista?

Hi,

It's still there, you just need to enable the details view.

To do so, just open up the main contact list window, click the "green arrows" icon to the
right of the "Find a contact" field and choose Show contacts' details.

Right, found it! MS really seemed to have made a puzzle of the dazzling
interface. Initially I'd never have wasted time trying that button, because
the balloon says: "sort contacts".

It's also absolutely ridiculous that the option isn't in the actual menu structure.

That is, if you can figure out how to get the menus.. ;)
