Just right-click on the MSN-Icon in the TAskbar(normally
nin botttom right next to the clock) and select Close from
the context-menu.

Greetings Paul,

To do this, close MSN Messenger 5 (right-click its icon and choose Exit), then download and
run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/msn5_nobackground_9x.reg

After this, restart MSN Messenger 5 from the Start menu, and it will now completely close
down when you click the 'X'. However, keep in mind that this only works for MSN Messenger 5,
if you upgrade to MSN Messenger 6.x in the future, this will no longer work.
