    - msn 7.5 kills internet connebtion I have a problem with msn messenger 7.5 build 311 This started only a few days ago, MSN kills my internet connection after a random timeperiod. It can be minutes or even hours. I'm using windows messenger now until this problem is fixed. I'm on a router (always been) and the other computer on the router is working ok, so it's not my router. Also when my internet connection is killed the icon in the taskbar shows that my computer is sending packets but doesn't recieve any.     - Custom Emoticons and Display Names Hey, I was just wondering why Microsoft hasn't listened to a large portion of the MSN Messenger community and allowed custom emoticons to be used in your MSN Messenger Display Name? I understand that your entire list would then have to download the emoticon in order for it to display properly, but how large are they, really? The emoticon I want to use in my name is less than 2kb (19x19,10 frames of animation)! Even a dialup user couldn't complain about that. A simple option to "disable automatic downloading of custom emoticons" would even eliminate the small portion of users concerned about that bandwidth use, and open up all sorts of avenues for customizing your MSN Messenger experience.     - MSN freezes on loading list of backgrounds. ver 7.0.0816. Upon opening the list of backgrounds set up on messenger, i click on one of the backgrounds (which i added from a file which hasn't been moved) MSN diddn't freeze but just the backgrounds window froze which meant that it wouldn't move or do anything else. I had to ctrl+alt+delete it (i use win 98). another post said to delete the files in the backgrounds folder but i have other backgrounds in there and a non-msn standard background is used too. can anyone help me.     - MSN Reconnect Problem I noticed that when I am signed into MSN Messenger and I lose internet connection MSN messenger drops out which is fine, but when it tries to connect or when I try to connect on first try I get error "Signing in to MSN Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." If I hit retry I get the same error, but if I hit cancel and then "Sign In" in signs in without any trouble. Anyone else having this problem?     - msn messenger with UPnP problem? Hi MSN messenger works ok with UPnP turned on except when doing invitiation for applications like White Board, Application Sharing. It seems the IP-Address field of the ACCEPT message is not using the external IP which is returned by the SB server. Instead, it uses the private IP address if it's behind a NAT server. And the following SIP INVITE message will be sent to the private IP address which will be thrown away by the first router it hits. I was wondering if it's a MSN messenger bug or a bug of the UPnP device (gateway/NAT server). It looks more like a MSN bug because the external IP address is already in the profile message returned by the SB server. Why not use the external one? If using the private IP, why not use another header field: IP-Address_Internal? I would appreciate it if any one could give me an affirmative answer.     - MSN 7.5 I had a serious problem with MSN 7.5 messenger ... I can't log on because I continually get problems with the connection. BUT ... there is notting wrong ... when I do a service status he says everuthing is allright. I also installed MSN again ... nothing helps. Windows messenger works perfect. But msn doesn't. I also have tries to solve the problem with the DLL-files. I cleared my cookies and all those things ... but it just doesn't work.     - Signing in to MSN messenger failed......... I installed Messenger 7.5 recently and to be honest wish I hadn't. I found earlier versions used to log me in and out on a regular basis which was annoying but any outage would be relatively short-lived. However after running Messenger 7.5 for a while I get the login window and if I try to login I get the message: "Signing in to MSN messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." If I hit retry I get the same message again. If I hit cancel and then login again all is well. Any explanations. Also I use WinXP and can't find the earlier version of 7.0. I downloaded the new 7.5 and it won't sign in ... i've uninstalled and re-installed, uninstalled and installed 7.0, and i've tried settting those .dll files like in the previous posts and still nothing ...     - suggest: full screen for sharing webcam,tweak settings for vid/voi I love the new full screen mode for videoconferencing, but I wish it was also available for regular sharing webcam mode as well. I tend to use the webcam sharing and voice in combination instead of videoconferencing because for some reason they use different codecs and the one for videoconferencing uses a sound codec that performs much worse than the voice conversation codec on my system. So, it would also be nice to allow advanced users to select codecs and tweak compression/quality tradeoff settings for video, voice, and videoconferencing.     - One of Two computers won't connect to MSN or Hotmail I have two computers hooked up to a router. One of them is fine, I can connect to MSN and I can go to hotmail.com too. The other computer will not connect. I've tried deleting my temp internet files, cookies, changing my security settings to medium, reverting to a few days ago. Nothing worked! I've got a hotmail account I'm using that consists of my full name and that's what I give to friends, but I also want to add people without the use of that email, so I think it would be great to allow either allow multiple emailadresses (to a single "messenger-window") or a "msn-hotmail-key". There can't be more than 99'999'999 messenger users so a homepage where you can put in your hotmailadress and get a key connected to it (small key), or just a decryption of your emailadress (hashing? anyway larger key).     - Booting PC and Messenger not signing in Hello. When my XP PC boots, Messenger never automatically signs in, and I have to click the sign in once the PC has fully booted. Is there any way that I can delay Messenger so that it doesn't try to sign in before the PC has fully booted and all other services have been started?     - Strange Sound Problem need some help please. up until a few weeks ago no probs with video conversations sound and cam fine. now with one of the people the sound i am recieveing is as if its been slowed down and dropped 2 octaves, cam still perfect though and they can see and hear me perfectly.     - 80048820 error again Guys, I know this error has been discussed a lot but I've got the same problema and I can't fix it. I've followed all the procedures mencionated here and it didn't work. I have Norton 2006 and I updated the MSN 7.5 when it ask me if I want to do so. After that I can't connect anymore. I've disabled the norton, also I changed its configuration option(program control) to allow all the action from MSN program, general rules and I desactivated de Windows messenger protector. When I try the MSN Messenger Connection Troubleshooter, the test results shows "Default gateway" - Your gateway appears to be offline. Basicly it was working fine before updating. I don't have norton CD instalation anymore and I don't want to uninstall it. What Should I do? Should I give up MSN Messenger and switch to Yahoo Messenger? Im using XP PRO SP 2, DSL connection.     - distorted voice Hi, I have a 1.5M link. Running MSN Messenger I get good video and good and noiseless audio. However, the voice of the person on the other side is distorted. The pitch is high. Like a cartoon character, or a person who have inhaled Helium gas, if you know what I mean. His Mic is OK, since he speaks with others without the problem.     - HUGE bug in recent versions of MSN Messenger: Consumes 100% CPU on startup, hanging system. When you're on a wireless network connection, and that connection has not yet been created (or failed in some fashion), even if MSN Messenger is NOT set to sign in automatically, it stalls on startup (presumably in the initial Network connection code), and then proceeds to consume nearly 100% of the CPU.     - New MSN works for me, not my GF, SAME MACHINE OK, so the GF is mad at me since i uploaded the new messanger. It works fine for me but she gets the error message with her logon, tried to reset and now it says there the password has been tried to many times and locked.     - video problem I posed this problem a week ago, but no-one appeared to know the answer, so I'll try one more time to see if there is an MS-MVP around. If not, I'll give up! I have MSN Messenger version 7.5 0311. Windows XP Pro. Creative webcam. I cannot initiate a video conversation in Messenger. If someone invites me, everything works fine. There is simply no video conversation option either as an icon or in the dropdown list for me to click on. Everything used to work OK until I downloaded the latest version. It is the same webcam that I have used for years. Other colleagues say that they have the icon & option. I have only "Start a voice conversation" or "Send my webcam".     - clumsy feature When trying to insert a certain icon while chatting with Messenger 7, I noticed that they seem to shift their positions each time. Now, I have a lot of icons so it takes quite a search to find the same bloody icon back! I'm very surprised about this "feature". Do programmers really beleive they make things easier this way?     - chat window scrolling problems while Away I've noticed that I can't scroll up the chat window while the person I'm chatting with is "Away". Well, I can scroll up but it does not stay scrolled up. This seems counterintuitive; it would make oodles more sense if the chat window were biased to showing incoming text when my chat partner is "Available". But when he/she is "Away", why should I not be able to read earlier messages in the chat window without interference from that stupid bias? Has anyone else noticed this problem?     - MSN Messenger Crashing IE While In Hotmail For the past few weeks now, when signed in to MSN Messenger and only when in Hotmail (using IE), IE crashes with the usual error message "...has to close." This only happens if: 1) signed in to MSN Messenger AND 2) in Hotmail. If not signed in to MSN Messenger, IE does not creash while in Hotmail. If signed in to MSN Messenger, no other webpages have had errors with IE. I have seen a few other people say they have the exact same problem. I've tried several recent versions of MSN Messenger 7.x I have performed a total sweep of my rig with: Spybot, Ad-aware, MS AntiSpy application, and Hijack-this. Please respond back if you have had this issue and have successfully resolved it. Please do not reply back with suggestions of "shooting in the dark."     - Can;t get webcam work I tried many times, but couldn't get webcam to work. After the other party accepted my invite, both mine and the other party's screen showed something like "loading..." and "waiting for contact..." for a while, and then it cancelled itself. Hi, I have a problem with MSN 7.5 build 311. It just started a few days ago.
