Mary,
Are you referring to the MSN Messenger icon or Windows Messenger icon?
Please try making sure that they are already running: Start > Programs >
Windows Messenger (if you use Windows Messenger) or select MSN Messenger (if
you use MSN Messenger)
Once you have run the program and you still are not seeing the icon on the
taskbar (besides the clock), please click on the arrow besides the icons to
expand and see if your messenger icon is under it.
You might also want to try:
right click on any empty part of the taskbar and select Properties. Click
Customize besides Hide Inactive Icons. Look for Windows Messenger (or MSN
Messenger) and change it to Always Show.
