How do I keep the notification that there is e-mail
waiting off the front page where you have your various
users. THe kids constantly bug us to check our e-mail ot
to check thier e-mail the second that they see that a
message has arrived. Can this be turned off and if so how?

Thanks

is this notification coming from msn messenger or the
number of your new messages are being displayed on your
log on screen?

If it is coming from msn messenger, you can stop receiving
this notifications by going to tools>options>general>under
alerts> click to clear display alerts when e-mail is
received...

And if it's on your Welcome screen, you can use TweakUI to turn it off.

Open "Logon", select Unread Mail, untick Show unread mail on the Welcome
screen and apply to all users.

TweakUI for XP:
<http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx>

or direct:

...or one can just use the "regedit" tool coming standard with Win to
disable showing unread messages so no installation of extra progs are needed
