Hi all,

I use messenger for business relays and it would be helpful to go back to
the log files for notes. I am currently copying and pasting into a word doc
and was just informed MSN Messenger keeps a log file of every chat session.

This would greatly cut my time C&Ping my notes.

Where can I locate the file?

TIA

Greetings TIA,

Well firstly you have to turn on the logging functionality if you haven't already. To do so,
click the Tools menu within Messenger, then Options, then Messages tab, and make sure that
"Automatically keep a history of my conversations" is selected. In that same window, you'll
see the folder where the logs are stored, you can either visit that folder on your own or
simply right-click individual contacts on your main contact list and choose "View Message
History".

What's the current version of Messenger? B/C I don't see a tab for Messages
and the option to select keep history. I am running 4.7.300.

TIA

Hi,

The Message History function is only available in MSN Messenger 6.x:
http://messenger.msn.com/Download

Alternatively you could use Messenger Plus! to get logging (into text files) in previous
versions (and 6.x if you like):
