    - Are you encountering error 81000395 when you try to sing into Windows Live Messenger? Greetings, A new entry to the Messenger Support Space has just been posted. Here are the contents of the post: Are you encountering error 81000395 when you try to sing into Windows Live Messenger? If you are encountering this error, please enable connection logging and send us a mail with the connection log attached to messengeresc@hotmail.com To gather the connectivity log, please follow steps below: 1. If Messenger is running, right-click the "MSN Messenger" icon in the notification area at the far right of the taskbar, and then click "Exit." 2. Delete the already existing connection log file, if it is available: a. Start Messenger but do not sign in. b. Click "File," and then click "Open Received Files" on the "MSN Messenger" menu to go to the My Received Files folder. c. Look for the MsnMsgr.txt file, and then delete it. To do this, click the file, and then press DELETE. d. Look for the MsnMsgr.txt file, and then delete it. To do this, click the file, and then press DELETE. 3.Enable connection logging if it is not already enabled. a. Start MSN Messenger but do not sign in. b. On the "Tools" menu, click "Options." c. In the "Options" dialog box, click "Connection." d. Under "Connection Logging" make sure that the "Save a log of my server connections to help troubleshoot connection problems" check box is selected. e. Close the "Options" dialog box. 4. To sign in to MSN Messenger again, click "Sign In." and wait until the sign-in error appears. 5. To access the new connectivity log file (MSNMsgr.txt) follow steps in Step 2.     - Help Appreciated: WXP-SP2 Windows Live Messenger will not Sign-on Log-on screen will not complete logon and will not present Contact Window. Playing with diffent accounts, it will recognize and report invalid password. If my account is signed in on another PC, the Messenger on the failing PC will log the other session off. I have exit-relaunched Messenger; removed and reloaded Messenger. Nothing allows the logon to get beyond the logon screen. Last Microsoft patch update was Oct 11th.     - Router Enabled UPnP could cause connection Problems I could not connect with messenger live all of the sudden. after extensive system troubleshooting I decided to look outside the box. I disabled the UPnP service on my router and "wham bam thank you mam" the Live messenger connects now. I am not sure if there is a port conflict or with the forwarding in live but with UPnP on the asp.net service has trouble retaining the connections and hangs the system.     - Deleted contacts cache, can't login! Hi- I had the same problem mentioned before - added xyz but xyz isn't on my contact list, clicking 'add xyz to contact list' doesn't work. I tried deleting the stuff in the folders mentioned (%appdata%/Microsoft/etc and Documents and Settings/[username]/Contacts/etc) like someone said to, and now I can't login.     - WIndows Live Messenger Problems I have Windows Live Messenger on my desktop pc and on my laptop. On m laptop it signs in perfectly every time. On my desktop pc it does not sign in at start up, I have to exit from the program completely and when I then reload it signs in perfectly well. I have McAfee Internet Security Suite comprising anti virus, firewall etc etc. On my laptop I have norton. Any help would be appreciated.     - What to do when Jonathan's fixes don't work Since I installed Windows Live Messenger on one of my computers, I think I was able to sign in once and since then have not been able to sign in with it at all. The "guys just keep spinning". I've tried both of Jonathan's registry cleanup files. After removing MSNMessenger entries, I get error 81000395 the next time I try but other than that, I don't get any error or anything. Web Messenger works fine, Trillian works, and Windows Live Messenger works on another computer. All of this is with the same sign-in. I've been trying with all firewalls disabled. What's next?     - messenger won't open I've reinstalled 7.5 several times on my desktop. The installations are successful. I reboot. Each time during the opening process I get various error messages that messenger can't be loaded. Sometimes it is a component that can't be found. Sometimes it is another error. I have no problem on my laptop. It really is quite irritating, because messenger is the highest rated IM according to PC magazine, and I want to stay centered on Microsoft. I have the latest version of Windows Live and when I signed in to the passport site, I saw the "change" next to my current ID and was directed to the change page. Here's where it gets weird. In the help file, it indicates that I should be able to either change my ID to a ________@hotmail.com or select my own email address.     - Whiteboard/sharing sits "waiting"...? So I have two machines here at home, both with Live Messenger installed and logged in with two different accounts (one is ethernet to my wifi router, the other is wifi to the same router) and everything works fine EXCEPT when I try to open whiteboard or share an app.. I get the child window that opens with the whiteboard/sharing app options and the status bar just sits at "waiting..." and nothing ever happens. Anyone have a clue on why?     - Space not integrating to contact card? It seems that my space is not integrating into my contact card (one of my contacts told me, and I'm on my own contact list, and it isn't doing it). The space is still accessible through the Right Click > View > Space, providing people have the permission (which is set to my messenger allow list). I've tried everything I can think of to fix it, short of deleting and recreating the space(Posted multiple times, which gave a gleam, but the only link on the contact card was the profile link. I also attempted deleting the profile, and then doing it, which gave a gleam, but left nothing on my contact card, and after recreating my profile, I'm back to the original situation) Other contacts spaces seem to be integrated fine.     - WLM waits infinitly for my contact list Hi, It all started a week ago, my WLM logs in but never shows my contact lists, it just stays there with the two little green/blue folks turning and never does anything else (I've waited up to 30 minutes). I deleted all the folders I could find here (Contacts / AppData\Microsoft\MSN Messenger / Temp\MSN Messnger...) and the famous MSNMessenger.txt , and none of fixed the problem. This is all under the same XP username, one second her account works, then I log off, try mine, and it doesn't. I tried from my work PC, and my account doesn't work either. I tried to use MSN web messenger, and it worked. Then while webmessenger was open, I tried to login using WLM, and it kicked webmessengeroffline, but still never came around to show a contact list. Finally, here's the last chunk of my connection log file. it ALWAYS finishes with "ClientPor<" no matter what I do. Except when I use my girlfriends account, for here the log seems healty.     - Error code: 81000314 - Cant log in to messenger live or web messen HI, I am able to log onto messenger live on other machines, but not this one. I also cant sign in to web messenger, i havent noticed anyone else have this problem. I have read up on a few forums that are suggesting fixes, including downloading Johnathan Kay's registry reset and deleting the entire messenger folder in the registry too. I have reinstalled, deleted plus!, and emptied all messenger shared folders. There is no virus on the computer. I have read that this is something to do with the new windows update. It sounds like many people are having this sign-in problem and Bill and his crew can't help us out. It would be nice to have some support. :( P.S. Oh jeez.....I just noticed that messenger 7.5 finally unfroze on my xp machine. So when you initiate your webcam session, Messenger closes? This is usually the result of a
problem in your webcam driver. You may want to see if there are any updated drivers on the
webcam manufacturer's website.
