    - Can't Login to MSN hi, I have read a few post about the MSN problem. And I also encounter the error code:0x81000306. I did try a few suggestion on the post but it all didn't work out. I can login when I tried at home but not at work. But I can access my hotmail account to check email. How do I know if i fall on minority that can't login? And as I do not have access right to reset or change the firewall setting I do not know whether its firewall setting or my MSN got problem. What shall I do to use MSN messenger again?     - Oh fie...if it ain't broke, don't fix it... Well, I decided to "see the elephant", and I think I will just dump MSN Messenger altogether, now. I downloaded MSN Messenger 6.2 to see what all the fuss was about. It works, but... No Japanese character input (I am running on Windows Me, U.S. English, and my next O.S. will most likely not be Windows XP; of any flavor). I couldn't see any indication that file transfer was playing UPnP with my Netgear FR114P router; looks like no SIP. I decided I was going to go back to the way things were; MSN Messenger 5.0, and forget about file transfer, and voice; things which Yahoo!'s messenger does very well on this box. Only... MSN Messenger 5.0 is now broken. Can't log in. So much for test drives.     - Firewall HELL - I need help Hi all, I need help - I'm using MSN Messenger 6.2 and I have to shut down Norton Personal Firewall 2002 every time I use messenger because every time I type a message the firewall pops up & says "you're about to send your email address to blah blah blah, you must permit or block this information." Now the thing I don't understand is that I've disabled my firewall, hell I've even hit ctrl-alt-del & shut it down yet it STILL pops up with this message - it's driving me insane.     - Webcam connection disconnects msn messenger Hi, I've been having a great time with msn messenger and it's webcam and audio capabilites. I've connected with many people, at least 6. With 2 fixing the audio problem they had. mostly it was opening port 1900 on their router. However, with my dad. We've been having problems. We've connected the first 2 times we used it. Then all of a sudden it won't work anymore. We can send video one way right now. It doesn't matter which way. My dad to me, or from me to my dad. It works, however once we start the second person. His connection of msn messenger just freezes and then he is signed off. It's only him. Also, the audio hasn't worked since the first 2 times. So, I'm actually quite confused. he uses a dlink router, a logitech quickcam pro 4000, and windows xp pro with sp1 update. all updates are up to date, including msn messenger and quickcam drivers. everything worked before, so that is what's confusing me. thanks in advance Tag: error code 1603 Tag: 52606

    - Audio interruptions - MSN Messenger 6.2 This is really puzzling. I'm trying to have MSN Messenger voice conversations with my mom. She's running Windows XP in spanish, fully patched, and PC-Cillin Firewall. I'm running Windows 2000 Server, in english, fully patched, and no Firewall. We are both running MSN Messenger 6.2, although she's running it in Spanish, and I in English. We can chat fine, no problems. We can start audio conversations ( "Audio" menu option ) just fine but, after a few seconds, the conversations get interrupted, and we have to reclick "Audio" on the menu in order to restart talking. Sometimes we get to talk for 5 seconds. Sometimes we can talk for as long as one minute. We never know how long we are able to talk. All of a sudden, we get a "the conversation with xxx has ended" message and, as soon as I click on "Audio" and she accepts, we are connected again, and can talk for a few more seconds. When we both used NetMeeting and Messenger 5, she in spanish and I in english, just like now, we could talk as long as we wanted to, without problems.     - Camera problems Please help, I have been having great video and audio conversations with one of my relatives in the USA using messenger. (I am in the UK). I have added another relative to my list and when we try to start a video conversation they can see me but I can not see them. We can both hear each other. I have a picture of a camera with a red cross at the top the screen. I asked them to try audia tuning wizard. They got a message saying the camera is not connected in or in use by another program. I asked them to go to task manager and the only programs running were messenger and the connection we had. They went to control panel and checked the camera was working Ok. It was. The connection to my other relative still works without a problem. I have used Yahoo messenger to speak to the relatives I am having a problem with and we both could see and hear each other. It is just of inferior quality to messenger. I have got them to remove yahoo messenger using add/remove programs thinking it was a camera sharing issue. This still did not work.     - installation problem I was having problems signing into MSN the other day. After logging in messenger would get stuck and shut itself off. After this had been going on for awhile I decided to uninstall MSN and redownload it. When I went to the MSN site to redownload the software the 6.58 MB file would download only a few kb and then stop. The file fully downloads now but when I try to install it I get this message. "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2894." then I get a message that says. "MSN messenger setup has failed with error code: '1603'. Please go to the MSN messenger website and download the software from there." This error is related to Windows Installer.
First, try to Update your Windows in
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, then close your MSN Messenger
totally (From the icon beside the system watch) and try again
downloading the MSN messenger from http://messenger.msn.com
