error code 1603 when installing msn messenger 6.0

i keep getting a message saying error code 1603 when
trying to install msn messenger 6.0 what do i do?

Which OS are you using?

If it's Win'2K or XP, are you listed as an administrator?

Same problem for me, on Win2K, and I'm an Admin. I have cleaned my system
up by removing temp files, run scandisk and diskcheck, etc. to no avail. I
have uninstalled Messenger 5 and that did not help. No sign of anything
close on support.microsoft.com

Anyone have any advice?
