    - change WLM ID: all contacs off-line Hi volks, one week ago I changed the windows live ID with a new email, now I can connect to the WLMessenger with the new ID but all the contacts are off-line.     - Can't change from "off-line" status My status ( seems i'm not the only one ) can't be changed from "off-line". No matter the client or the machine, my status isn't updated and all my contacts see me as offline. I can talk normaly to my contacts but them see me as off-line.     - Bogus messages containing a URL When I am chatting with a friend, I get messages from her that she did not type. The messages are of the form: "Because I love you. http://someurl.com/?=myemailaddress@hotmail.com" or some other message with a different URL. After I get the bogus message, her MSN crashes and she has to log back in. She has run a virus scan and found no viruses. I also have no viruses.     - The end of Messenger 6.2? Well, it seems so. My 6.2.0208 running on my older installation (Win2K SP4, IE 5.5 SP2) was bog-stable (and still shows my web cam without problems, so it is just purpose they blocked the older release - typical MS hype & boogaloo!!) Now I get the common message that I MUST upgrade to sign in at all. I was a bit pissed off and very tempted to softICE the thing! Because... Messenger 7.0 IS allowed (thank goodness), but this means I have to upgrade my bog-stable IE5.5 SP2 (which also runs XMLHttp stuff perfectly, no matter how "ancient" it is) to IE6 which I do not want.     - LifeCam Picture has flickering "lines" in picture Hello everyone, I'm using my LifeCam VX-3000 with its bundled software. It's updated to v1.3, the latest one, but I've had this problem since I began using the camera. When I preview my picture in the software the video preview has many flickering, horizontal lines in the picture which distort the color. Adjusting the focus doesn't help, and the camera is plugged into the fastest USB port available on my computer (It's only about a year old so I know the ports are fast enough). I even tried increasing the USB bandwidth in the picture settings in the software; the highest it can go for me is 5, and the automatic setting puts it at 4. This does not resolve the problem either. I doubt the product is defective, it's been like this since I bought it and the packaging looked solid when we bought it. Can anyone shed some light on how I can fix this problem? Thank you!     - Update Messenger to Live Messenger I have messenger version 4 running. When it starts it asks if I wish to upgrade . When I select Yes, it starts to load an update. The update is in Spanish and if I let it complete, I get a Spanish version of Live Messenger. It also does not replace the old messenger - so it still comes up asking if I want to update.     - Spyware on the increase again Just a passing comment because I got a couple of these this morning and now I am grumpy LOL ... This is on the increase again ... Malicious spyware, pretending to be a social networking site or similar, cons people into using their Messenger login (or Yahoo, etc) and password to "log in" by sending a message or email purportedly from a contact. The site then appears to use the fraudulently obtained log in details to get into the user's account and send all their contacts emails or messages. I really don't know why otherwise intelligent people would hand over their log in details to another web site, but I wish Microsoft could come up with a way to block this activity. Not having a go at Microsoft because I know it is a tricky problem to solve, just wondering if anything can be done. BTW when I get one of the malicious messages - they are usually easy to spot - I politely advise the contact to change their password and secret question.     - MSN virus Dear Sir/Mdm, Recently i encountered a serious problem. I recieved a message send by one of my contacts from MSN that stated "is that you in the picture" followed by an URL and I clicked on the link without knowing what it was. It then prompt me to run or save a file, hence I close it without running or saving it thinking that it is probably so spyware. There after, everytime when I start up my desktop, the same msg kept appearing and i just ignore and close the msg box. This took place over a few days. But the last time when I close the msg box, about 10 mins later, the system shut down by itself. When i tried to reboot it, error msg appeared in the blue screen and I chose to run in safe mode, but the error kept repeating like a cycle.     - Live Messenger Sharing Folders Problem Hi, I have a problem with the 'My Sharing Folders'. Windows Live Messenger 8.1 shows a message box "Your sharing folders aren't yet available. Please try again in a minute." whenever I try and open them. When going to the Options - Sharing Folders, both the listboxes that should show contacts Remove and Add are greyed out and show none of my contacts. The icon for "My Sharing Folders" as seen in the explorer window My Computer has its icon missing. Double clicking on this does nothing (actually returns focus to the previous folder). I have looked at "C:\Documents and Settings\*login*\Local Settings \Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\*mymessengeremailaccount* \Sharing Folders" and there is nothing below there. Can anyone help.     - problem with voice/vidchat I keep trying to voice/video chat to my daughter in Australia. But while it seems she can chat 'perfectly' to all her friends, while chatting to me we get a lot of breaking up, looped feedback etc. It sometimes is quite clear when using voice only, but adding video messes it up. On the same machine I can log in using a different MSN account and I can login to the account using Web Messenger and MSN on my PocketPC. I'm sure you all must hate this problem by now, but can anyone give me any clue as to what I can do to repair the machine (XP SP2 IE 6)?     - WLM 8 hangs after sign on. I got a HP DX200 desktop, XP Home, SP2, all up to date. When I log on with WLM 8 i get the friends list then WLM hangs. If I am logged on with my messenger account on another PC when i try to log on on this HP machine it will kick the user on the other station. So clearly the logon procedure works but then it hangs, i get no error messages. I've tried everything suggested to help people with a simular problem, nothing worked. I've removed Java, used the registry fix to clear policies from registry, tried earlier version, none would work except Messenger that comes installed with XP.     - Blue Screen Crashes from clkdvr.sys & Live Messenger There seems to be a serious problem with Live Messenger. I downloaded the latest version yesterday to use with my shiny new webcam (thanks Santa) and haven't been able to hold a video call for more than a few seconds before my laptop crashes with Blue Screen of Death. Not a pleasant sight & not what one expects to see these days. Error reporting led to receipt of Microsoft auto advice that 'clkdvr.sys' was the problem with blame placed on unknown hardware supplier. Except I cannot find such a file anywhere, it certainly isn't called on by my webcam. My crappy old webcam on my old desktop crashed the same way but infrequently so I didn't bother trying to sort it. A Google search suggests it is a problem with shared folders under Live Messenger and those reports go back several months. If so why hasn't Microsoft put some advice out on a fix before now?     - Problem running MSN Live Messenger, and installing also so for some reason out of no where my msn live fails to start and also fails to install for this reason that it says to me... Last week when I opened messenger it told me an update had been deployed to
the and I would have to refresh the window. Ever since then, when I get
e-mail no pop-up message appears. I have to open the inbox and refresh the
window to view the new mail. this is happening on both my XP and Vista
machines. Both are running IE7. I tried upgrading to messenger 8.5 and
rebooting. Any ideas?
