Hi all. I know I was given this information before but I'm having a brain
block.

I just had to completely re-do my computer and now Windows Messenger is
occassionaly sending me a message saying I have been logged out of MSN
Messanger as I have logged in at another computer.

So help me again if you would be so kind as to disable the Windows
Messenger.

Thanks all
Carolyn

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
That should do the trick :)

It removes *Windows* Messenger (not the same as MSN Messenger).

Note that doing this will break items that are dependent on Windows
Messenger (Remote Assistance, Application Sharing etc)

hmmm interesting..

I don't seem to recall typing in that string previously anyway. Seems it
was a much easier application.

Thanks again Jonathan for the great and quick fix information. Very easy
for those of us who are not really confident in running anything too
complicated.

Re: disable Windows Messenger by rodrigo

rodrigo

true ! my mistake.

and you know how i can remove MSN, or disable in a way that it's not very
easy to restore it back.

what i need is block some computers that has MSN. i can't just remove it
becaouse it can be reinstalled i need block it´s execution.

i don't have access to the network resources, programs, firewalls etc.. to
do this from there. i only have the machine and i need some policy that
block msn.

regards,
rodrigo.
