How can I de-install the windows messenger? It is realy
annoying that it keeps poppin up, even though I don't use
it. I allready tried telling the programme that it
doesn't have to try to make a connection automatically,
but I keep seeing the little icon on the right ... (not
connected off course). Can anybody help me?

Windows Messenger can't be uninstalled. It's a part of the operating
system....

either uncheck the "start with windows" option in
Messenger itself and then close the program, or to
uninstall completely go to Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs and remove it from either the list of installed
programs, or if it was installed as part of Windows,
uncheck it from the list of installed Windows components

Greetings Kathleen,

To remove Windows Messenger 4.7, close down Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the
notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start button, then click Run
and type in (copy-paste if you like):

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,
