at my husbands workplace, when he clicks on the messanger
icon it automatically signs him onto messanger and this is
frustrating and is worrying us that others at his work can
get into his other stuff in msn. I have gone online and
seen him online and i know for a fact he is not cause he
is here. They run XP if that is any help.

thanks

Greetings Magie,

To remove this, when he's at work, tell him to do the following -- click the Start Button,
then click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your
account name, and then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my
Network Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and
click 'Remove'. After this, the saved password will be removed.

Thanks for the help but it didn't work. I think it has
something to do with the passport or messanger screen at
the very beginning because he is automatically signed in
right from the begining of the screen and his name is not
under the users in the control panel. This is very
confusing

thanks any additional help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Magie,

Actually I deal with this several times a day, and you'll need to re-read my instructions.
All currently logged in Windows XP accounts are listed in the Users Control Panel, we're
talking about the account that's logged into the computer *not* Passport (thats in the second
part).

If you still can't figure it out, assuming he has administrator access to the machine, he can
download and run the following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/disablenetcreds.reg
The computer will need to be rebooted to see the change.
