So i've installed my webcam perfectly. but for some odd
reason i cant get it to work perfectly with msn messenger
6.0 or 6.1 . Whenever i press the webcam button on msn
it says it is asking for "accept or decline" from the
other party, once accepted the only thing i see and my
contact is a black screen. Now strangly enough the only
way I can get the webcam to work is when i send for a
Video Conference, even though none of my contacts have
mic's or cam's. Have I done something wrong or is this
just an msn messenger problem?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You tried to be perfect in an imperfect world?

Webcam? by Steve

Steve

I have the same problem with 6.0 and 6.1 in XP!! but with
my Aiptek Presscam 400 (Pencam). A fix for this would be
super! (:

It seems to work fine with my Windows ME system using
6.0, could it be a directx problem? I was going to try to
update directx from 7.1 on my ME system but I decided not
to nor have I done any updating to the system.

Don't know if this will work for you, but I have the same
problem. I just have the other person invite me to a
webcam chat, after I "accept" we connect and can see each
other. Its not a fix, but a work around. Hope it helps.

I experience the exact same thing, it worked perfectly
until the "forced" migration to 6.1, then, black screen -
even though it says it's connected, and all I see from
others who have a webcam is a black screen too. I tried
reinstalling, but that failed to do anything. I use a
Creative webcam model CT6840.
