Can not have an audio/voice conversation with another
computer. Tried with Windows Messenger 5.0 and MSN
Messenger 6.1. Can send invitation. After the other
party accepts the invitation a message is eventually
provided that says the voice conversation has ended when
nothing actually started. Can have a voice conversation
via Yahoo Messenger. Turned off all firewalls. Still no
progress. Any suggestions?

check the UDP ports on your machine if disabled, that might be the origin.

also check to see if your windows messenger is still allive, when using the
msn messenger

So should Windows Messenger be running (when running MSN Messenger) or not?
Your response was a little unclear. I am assuming that your answer is that
"it should not be active when using MSN Messenger" yet according to MS
Windows Messenger is required to active certain functionality of MSN
Messenger. Confused.

Thanks for the reply.

Don't believe I'm using UDP. In any case, how would I
verify one way or the other? I'm not using Internet
Connection Firewall. The Firewall I'm using is Norton
Personal Firewall. This has been turned off and still
have the issue.

Also, only trying to use either Windows Messenger or MSN
Messenger. Both have the same issue.

im running msn messenger 6.1

the problem was solved since i disabled the win messenger with local
polices, and did the upgrade to the new 6.1 ver of the msn messenger, also
the firewall was blocking trafic on the udp ports.

http://messenger.msn.com/Download/

go there a find the latest version.

the persons your trying to talk should have it to, specialily if their SO is
diferent from yours.

if nothing else works in the end try skype beta.
