If you need to verify an MSN contacts identity is it possible to find out
which part of the country your MSN contact is from using the numbers that
appear after the first part of your email address, then a series of
numbers.xml that can be found in your history? I am using Windows Live
Messenger.

Hello,

as far as I can see, these numbers do not tell you from which part of the
country someone is. I have several contacts that live in my neighbourhood
and they have a completely different number.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Greetings,
P. Di Stolfo

Hi,
I agree - so do all of my contacts. But do you know if there is a way to
find out where they are located?
Thank you for your help.

Hello,

I think you can only trust someone's profile, or you could try to find out
with help of his/her contacts where the contact lives, but I can only guess.
I don't think that MSN could help you out either because of privacy etc.

Greetings,
P. Di Stolfo

Greetings,

You could have them send you a file, and assuming they are able to establish direct
connections, do a 'netstat' command at the command line. Then you could find out their IP
and use that to determine a location.
