Greetings,
The error message is wrong. What you need to use Remote Assistance on XP is Windows
Messenger (not Live) installed as long as Windows Live Messenger.
You can grab Windows Messenger from here:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a8d9eb73-5f8c-4b9a-940f-9157a3b3d774
After this is installed, Remote Assistance will work correctly in Live Messenger.
