I am running 7.0 Beta on XP with SP2.

When I try to transfer someone from my allow list to the blocked list, the
change appears to work but once the "Apply" or "OK" buttons are pressed the
following error message appears and the person is reinstated.

Error message " We cannot update your address book at this time. Please try
making this change again later"

Have been trying to make this change for more than two weeks. Anybody any
ideas?
Customer Support keep suggesting doing what I have already done and to email
them when it fails.

Just for your information - I removed v 7.0 and installed v 6.2 and the
problem was still there.
Has anyone any HELPFUL comments to make?

I have the exact same problem!
I cant modify my contact list at all. I cant unblock/block contacts,
add/rename/delete groups. And most frustrating is I can not modify my
display name!

I noticed the problem on March 16th when I tried to change my display name.
I get the error message "Your display name cannot be changed. Please try
again later." If I try to change any contacts, I get "We cannot update
your address book at this time. Please try making this change again
later." There are no error codes in these messages.

I dont have a solution to this as of yet, and MSN Messenger support has not
been all that helpful. I keep getting told to reinstall my MSN Messenger
and delete my Temporary Internet Files. This does not solve the problem.
I have also tried using version 6.2 but it has the same problems. The
problem only occurs on one of my Passport accounts, and another Passport
account works just fine on the same computer.

In a few older posts I found in this newsgroup, the suggestion was to
reverify your email address. So, I have contacted Passport support and
asked if I could reverify my Passport account, and they will not resend me
a validation email since it is already valid!

Any one have any ideas?

hi LJ

Glad I am not the only one! I can confirm your findings that using an
alternative passport enables MSN Messenger - whatever version - to work OK.

I also tried using my usual MSN Messenger passport to sign into Windows
Messenger with the result that I was unable to make any changes to that
contact list without an error message appearing ( shorter than the one on
MSN Messenger, but no more helpful).

I am happy to report that downloading the latest version 7 seems to have
solved all the problems
