    - MSN Messenger wont connect 0x8100301 I upgraded to newest version (6.1) and now I cannot connect at all. Keeps coming up with errror 0x81000301. When I had the old version it would connect with no problem. It has been four days since I installed the new version and have yet to successfully sign in. Thanks for the help.     - Repetitive disconnect with messenger 6.1 Anybody know how to correct this issue?? Messnger starts and after about a minute signs off and then a few seconds later signs back on again, presumably since settings sat sign on automatically when connected to internet. Intensely annoying for contacts as everyone gets informed that I signed on once or twice a minute. Have removed everything including registry settings and re- installed with fresh download but still get the same problem. Even happens while using.     - Messenger - Bag of Poo? Having real issues with MSN, signing in. Same errors that everyones listed below: 1) Your user name does not exist! (wrong! used it before) 2) You are not connected to the internet! (wrong, the browser window kind of blows that idea away 3) Server to busy to log you on! (may be the case.....but c'mon, sure MS can afford some more server capacity) And its not just the once - in the good 30 mins to an hour it takes me to log on, I'll get each one of those at least 4/5 times before I eventually get in...... ....and then get logged straight back out again for no reason!     - 0x8100036f error Hello, I have clients that use MSN Messenger and they were receiving this code along with a "cannot log you on to .NET, you need to upgrade your MSN Messenger" message. I have a few on Terminal Server that have that problem, and a few that are not on Terminal Server that does also. I have upgraded to the latest version (6.1) for all of the clients and made sure they have the apropriate Windows Updates but still they could not log into MSN Messenger. I went ahead and created an account for myself on Terminal Server to narrow down if it is a local computer problem or if it is profile specific. When I logged into my account and logged into MSN Messenger I logged on just fine, so it appears to be either a problem with the clients' profiles or possibly their .NET passport accounts.     - installed messenger-IE won't work Hi, I recently installed MSN premium and MSN messenger as part of a Verizon DSL deal. From that point on Internet Explorer won't work, it flashes on then disappears. I uninstalled from Add & Remove programs(IE) and the win2k version(IE5.0) did the same thing.     - Problems with custom emoticons. Hi. I'm running the latest MSN Messenger version (6.1) and yesterday, i tried to add some other custom emoticons. I received the following message : Your custom emoticons cannot be used. Please create new ones. A few month ago, it already happened, and I had to "rebuild" my whole custom emoticons' list. But now, it's impossible. My msn messenger is updated to 6.1, but it asks me to update EVERY time I log in. It pops up and says a newer version of Messenger is available, would you like to update. The date on your computer needs to be set properly -- double click the clock verify that the time and date are set. Status:Yes,my unit had set. 2. If your password information is not saved, verify that you are typing it in with the correct case (uppercase or lowercase). Status:I use # password. 3. Change your password @ http://memberservicesnet.passport.com/memberservice.srf to something smaller (under 10-12 characters), then try signing in again. Status:I change it to 12 characters. 4. If you use a firewall (like ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security etc. ), it's possible that Messenger doesn't have the correct rights to access the Internet, especially since you upgraded. You may need to re/add Messenger to the allowed list of programs in your firewall if this is the case. Status:I do not use a firewall. 5. If you disabled your firewall in the past, it still may be blocking Messenger -- try restarting it and see if that helps the situation. You also might try uninstalling an installed firewall, to verify that it isn't causing a problem (even if it is disabled). Status:I never use it. 6. Clear your IE cache and cookies -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the Delete Cookies button. Status:I had clear the cache & cookies. 7. Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked.     - Video Problems Windows XP (both computers) MSN Messenger 6.1 (both computers) While trying to conduct a video conversation, I am unable to see the other person. I am able to see him when he uses the web cam option, so I know the camera is working. Regardless of who initiates the call, the result is the same: he can see me, but I still cannot see him. When he tries to complete the audio/video tuning wizard, it tells him that he has a camera error and that there is a problem with the device or that it is already in use. (No other programs open.) However, the camera works fine with other software, and as I mentioned, with the web cam. The other person does not currently have a microphone hooked up. Can this affect the video? Any suggestions?     - Can't delete address from "Contacts", "Allow" and "Block" lists Greetings, I've had this problem for months, and it's annoying me. There are three people I added to my contacts years ago. After a while, I deleted the contacts and probably also blocked them at the same time. Now I've been going through my contacts list and my privacy folder, and I want these three names to just go away from EVERYWHERE! I don't want them on the "block" list, I don't want them on the "allow" list, and I DON'T want them in my contacts! I have tried everything - I've added them to my contact list, successfully (or so I thought!) DELETED them from the contact list, and yet they all continue to appear in the "allow" or the "block" list. I'm also having a separate problem - there is a person in my office who is in my contacts, is in my "allow" list, is ONLINE now, and yet I cannot see her, nor can she see me. I sit right across from her, and she is actively using Messenger, so I know she's signed on. I did have her temporarily blocked a month or so ago when I was out of town, but prior to that period of time, I was always able to see her online. Yes, I have entered her e-mail address correctly, and ironically, it was I who set up her Messenger account in the beginning. WHY do these problems continue to occur, and how can I fix them!     - MSN 6.1 Audio problems Hi, so I'm having audio problems like 50% of the msn comunity. I have seen tons of posting about this but not even one response that solves the problem. Sympton: I can send messages and we can see each other with webcams. In my network, in Italy and also with friends in Sweden. But, I can not talk, with my other computer at home I can talk, even though in the begining I could not. Then I could talk with a friend in our network, but I couldn't hear him, we closed the conversation and reopened (without changing anything) then he could not hear me either. This is an MSN issue pure and simple. I hope they sort it
out soon...or start charging for a more reliable service.

The errors are random. The users suffering are random.
Almost everything about this is random apart from the
fact that MSN messenger is burgeoning under its own
wieght.
