    - hyperlinks what are the chances of adding hyperlinks to messenger names/personal messages. i get sick of either having to type in a link someone has suggested, or initiating a conversation with them just to be able to copy/paste the site in. If the "what I'm playing" song feature can be hyperlinked, why cant messenger recognize a full hyperlink on a name as it does in a conversation and automatically comes up hyperlinked.     - Messenger 7.5 and 8.0 on the same machine I recently got an invitation to the WLM 8.0, had it installed and started to enjoy.     - Cannot Access MSN Spaces Hello, At the computer at work, I can easily access the MSN spaces of my buddies by clicking on their card. However, with the computer at home, after I've clicked on the photos or their blogs on their card, an IE windows will pop up alright, but it seems it's forever stopped at accessing g.msn.com, and it never gets rediverted to the proper page.     - Locked out of Messenger with a passport account I use a passport account to access MSN...For the last few days....I get a prob with a passport account error every time I sign in..error 81000303. If I hit ok...I get a msg on the passport website, "too many sign in attempts", lock-out message and it will not let me sign in no matter how long I wait...I have waited more than 24hrs.     - Custom Emoticons (Reference?) Hi, I've been trying to play with creating custom emoticons for MSN. Is there a reference site (either Microsoft, or 3rd party) which has the complete details/specifications for how to do this? Some things I've run into: 1) It's not clear whether the maximum size is 50x50 or 100x100 2) Sometimes the frame delay set in the animated GIF is respected, and sometimes it played much faster 3) Even though the entire emoticon size is well within the file size limit (150K), sometimes only the first two frames appear (unpredictably) 4) How to bundle together a whole bunch of emoticons with preset shortcuts, so they can be installed in one go (as opposed to the user having to set each one by themselves) Replies much appreciated. Two accounts on the same machine are able to exchange text with diacritics with no problems.     - MSN Messenger 7.5 problem and one possible solution Just in case this has not been discussed earlier: For a long time I had the same MSN Messenger 7.5 problem which many have described here. Followed every instruction: nothing worked, just the number if the error changed once (81000XXX... something). Finally I found the solution: my firewall blocked the connection. So what? Check your firewall settings is one of the first instructions given? But the ZoneAlarm had for some obscure reason went to hidden mode. It didnt show at all in lower right corner taskbar. So each time my programs were updated, they stopped accessing internet. So try this: go to program files, see if you have Zone Labs folder. You ay have forgot it... if so, open Zone Labs -> Zone alarm and double-click zonealarm.exe. Then try some program which has recently stopped working, like my MSN Messenger did as I updated it. Zone Alarm should now ask whether it gives the updated program an access to internet. Click yes, and if it works, you´re done. Your problem has been the same as mine: in hidden mode Zone Alarm does not ask for your permission to let a modified program to acces internet.     - Msn/spaces help me please!!!!!!! Oh i do hope somebody can help me, I am only a beginner at all this but my problem is not being able to upload photos to my space. I am running windows xp, i have Internet explorer 6, my connection is dial-up. I have Msn mesenger 7.5 whether that mkes any difference i am not sure, i also have nortons antivirus 2006 installed, What is happening is i click on add photos and absolutely nothing happens. I believe a yellow bar is suppose to appear at the top of my browser window which prompts you to install activeX control to start the photo upload tool but nothing happens it doesn't even appear, I have done what everybody told me to do like clear the cache & delete files and history etc, but it still doesn't work.     - Msn/spaces/cannot upload photos Please can anybody help, i have been trying to upload photos in my space, as soon as i click add photos nothing happens, i believe i need the activeX control to download the photo upload tool, but the yellow bar doesn't appear on my browser window so i can start the activeX. I have tried cleaning out my cache and history in internet options, I am running windows xp, ie6, and i am on Dial-up connection and i have Nortons antivirus 2006 installed also.     - blocking and deleting contacts My question is regarding what happens when user A blocks and then deletes user B from their contact list. Obviously, the users can't communicate with each other, and user B cannot see user A's status, even after being deleted from A's list. But if user B goes into his privacy settings and views the list of people who have added him to their list, will user A be gone from the list, since user A deleted user B, or will his state as it appears to user B be totally frozen, and thus it still appear to user A that he is on user B's list? Blue Mountain site will not allow previews either. Again, Flash Player is properly installed and I have both un and reinstalled it several times to no avail in fixing this problem and I have followed the procedure in MSN Messenger FAQs. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!! Since then, I have tried out the trial version of MSN Winks Plus and have CONFIRMED through this program that Flash is properly installed as I am able to preview/play all of the trial Winks, along with the default ones installed in MSN Messenger. Consequently, there must be some registry entry or "kill bit" within Messenger registry entries inhibiting the playing of Winks in my installation of Messenger, or some other bug preventing the playing of Flash content within Messenger. The checkbox to play winks is properly set in the options.. Request some avenues to pursue/troubleshoot this annoying problem as Flash is not the problem, nor is my Popup Blocker inhibiting the playing of Flash content. The problem MUST be somewhere within the installation or registry entries of MSN Messenger 7.5. Thank you.     - Messages and files not transfering Hi If anyone can offer any advice I'd really appreciate it please. (I am running a pc on xp on a broadband connection (Metronet) with Norton Internet Security set up. MSN Messenger version 7.5.0311) For some time now I have realised and found out I am missing quite a lot of messages contacts are sending me, so it can be a very disjointed conversation, and is extremely frustrating for both me and the contact. My contacts send them but they just don't show up on my pc. Also file transers do not always transfer. I also find that messenger sometimes logs itself in and out quite often through the course of the day or evening, even when the status for msn messenger is showing that there are no issues. This seems to be an intermittent problem, although it's hard to judge, as you can't always tell if a contact has said anything, it's only when it throws a conversation right out, or they let you know they have said something, and it hasn't showed up in the chat window, but I am now becoming more and more aware that it is happening. I have been told by a couple of contacts I have chatted to about this that it never seems to happen with anyone else on their contact list. Could it be my pc or broadband provider? I did contact support for Metronet a while ago and they said it was an MSN issue not an ISP issue! And yes you guessed it MSN said it was an ISP issue!!     - Jonathan - please help I would like to download the 324 update. Is there a specific link. 322 was automatically downloaded to one of my 2 home computers and 311 is still on the other. I'd like to get them both on the same version and it is my understanding that 324 is the latest. If I download from the MS site, it will only try and give me 311.     - MSN 7.5 and 7.0 Freezes on login I have the CAUSE but no solution! Ok i've been having the same problem as everyone. MSN locks up and n one can login. Heck MSN freezes my interenet connection when i try t login. Well i found the source of the problem in the C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Microsoft\MS Messenger\ folder there is a folder with a bunch of numbers in it. In that folde is a file called listcache.dat That is the culprit! On 7.5 and 7.0 if delete this file from my HDD and recycle bin and then exit ou completely of MSN messenger and restart it, i can login! this work every time but i mean what's the casue of this and there has to be solution! I don't want to have to do this everytime i want to login And to the microsoft helps out there I have done every thing you guy have posted from clearing the registry, changing passwords, firewal stuff, chearing the application data folder, nothing works!     - Really slow video and no no sound Hello all, I have just purchased a webcam so that i can use the video funtionality with friends and family.     - Can't access MS sites and Messnger 7.5 Hello, I recently tried to fix my Aunt's PC - it's running Windows XP Pro SP2 and IE6. I tried accessing my Hotmail account through the browser - it just goes to a blank screen and then times out. 404 page not found page comes up. Tried to create a new Hotmail account for my Aunt - entered all the details in the Sign Up area, and then clicked on Submit, and it goes blank and times out - 404 again. Same with Windows Update - go to the site, click on Express (or Custom) updates, and it waits for ages and then says there's a problem getting into Windws Update and to try again later. (Incidentally, Automatic Updates are set but it has never prompted me to install any updates - that means it can't get through to Windows Update I think.) Then I tried to log in to Windows Messenger. That worked. No problems there at all. Then I installed MSN Messenger 7.5. That installed fine, but when I try to log in, it waits for ages and ages and then says cannot connect to MSN Messenger, some problem. I then try a wrong password and try to log in - a dialog box pops up straight away to say my password is wrong. So it is authenticating my user ID, but then not able to get me logged on to the MSN system, somehow. So I uninstalled it, and installed MSN Messenger 6.2. Installed fine, and I can log in on that. Working fine. No problems. Chatted with a friend there too - seems okay. But when I click on the link in MSN Messenger to see my email - same problem as before. The browser window pops up but remains blank, and then times out. I installed Yahoo Messenger and set her up with a Yahoo account - all that stuff works fine - but most of her contacts are on Hotmail and she wants to chat to them. I can set her up to use MSN Messenger 6.2 - she doesn't need 7.5 - but she won't be able to check her Hotmail emails as the browser Hotmail doesn't work. So thats a no-go, at the end of the day. I am at home now - on my home PC all these things work fine. I'm logged on to MSN Messenger 7.5, I can see my Hotmail emails in my browser, and Windows Update works fine. Strange problem. If I send a picture to someone it looks the same on their machine until they download it then the thumbnail goes back to full color. Ive been expierencing a minor problem upon start up with messenger recently.

Messenger automatically starts and if I have a message it does indicate that
this is email. However, when I click on that indication, I get a message
saying the service is unavailable and then shutdowns.

A minute or two later, it signs itself back in again and tells me its
available. Any indication of what is happening.

I suspect zonealarm was buggering it up but Ive got messenger accessible on
both internet and being used as a server.
