I'm not quite sure what you mean -- do you mean changing the saved e-mail address and
password or actually changing your Passport e-mail address?
If you mean the former, simply right-click the Messenger icon in the notification area/system
tray, by the clock and click Sign Out. Then right-click it again, choose 'Sign In...' (*NOT*
the one with the e-mail address), type in the e-mail address you wish to sign in as and check
the 'Sign me in automatically' or 'Automatically sign me in' checkbox (depending on version).
If you mean the later, first, you'll need to save your contact list (it'll be deleted if you
don't). Sign into Messenger using your current Passport, click the File menu (or Contacts
menu if you're using MSN Messenger 6.x) and then select Save Contact List. The default
filename should be fine, and just save it on your Desktop. Go to the Desktop and verify that
the file was created.
If you have contacts, you'll probably want to delete them off your main contact list (after
you've saved them), so that they can remove the "wrong" address off their lists completely.
Just right-click each contact, and choose Delete.
Then, go to:
http://memberservices.passport.com/memberservice.srf and select 'Edit my .NET Passport
profile' and then under your current e-mail address click 'I want to change this', and enter
the new address.
Then, sign out of Messenger is you're still signed in (right-click its icon in the
notification area/system tray, by the clock and choose Sign Out), then sign-in to your new
Passport in Messenger (right-click the icon and choose Sign In..., be sure to click the
'Sign me in automatically' checkbox if you want it to automatically sign you in later).
Then, click the File menu (or Contacts menu if you're using MSN Messenger 6.x), then select
Import Contacts from a Saved File, then locate the file you just saved on your desktop and
select it. Your contacts will be readded, and they'll all need to add the new name to their
list.
Note: you cannot change a MSN.com/Hotmail.com e-mail address Passport, you'll simply need to
register for a new one
http://register.passport.net and use the above method (minus the
actual e-mail address change) to transfer your contact list.
