    - Messenger voice problems I'm having a lot of problems attempting to use voice with MSN Messenger 7.5 (Windows XP SP2). I can't even have a voice chat with another computer here in my own house (both on the LAN side of a Linksys router). I also have problems trying a conversation over the internet (through the router). As far as I can find out, the router (a Linksys BEFSR81) is not blocking anything. I've also tried turning off the SP2 Windows firewall, that had no impact. There is no other firewall type software or hardware running. The other computer here is a laptop running via a wireless access point connected to a port of the router. The wireless card is a D-Link DWL-630, the access point is a Linksys WAP54G. With the local computer, either computer can send the request to start a voice chat, the other computer sees it and accepts, but the acceptance is never seen by the sending computer. At some point, after a delay, the voice session is terminated on the computer that accepts it and you get a message stating that there was a network problem. Voice never actually works in either direction. With a remote computer over the internet, it actually goes better ... the session starts seemingly normally as seen by both computers, but voice works in one direction only. However, after a relatively short period of time (2-4 minutes) the session terminates with the same message about a network problem. Anyone have any ideas?     - sign in: msn messenger & zonealarm conflict Ever since I upgraded my MSN Messenger to version 7 it has been very difficult for me to sign in. It takes a couple of tries before I sign in sucessfully! GRRR! Any build of version 7 has this problem, since I've tested them all :-) After searching through other forums on the internet, I found out that MSN Messenger conflicted with Zone Labs ZoneAlarm version 5. I did a little test, I uninstalled Zonealarm and tried signing in and WOW it signed in with no problems. But I need Zonealarm just as much as MSN Messenger . . . so before you tell me YES I HAVE set permissions for MSN Messenger and I have run the Connection Troubleshooter, and it says no problems. So far the only way to fix this is to: 1. Disable Zonealarm when using MSN Messenger and/or uninstall 2. Upgrade to the latest Zonealarm version 6 Im sure other users have had this problem. If anyone can help . . . without uninstalling or upgrading my firewall, GRRRR!     - Messenger Won't Run Suddenly The next weird thing happend: I can't connect with messenger all of a sudden, no matter what version I use, next is something strange that happend with IE I can't access my hotmail account either, it says that it can't connect to the server after I filled in mine l/p, any other command in my browser works fine. I have scanned for a virus but according to both Norton and Zonelabs my system is clean, even a scan with ad-aware doesn't solve anything, I think it got something to do with my browser, but I reset to the standard settings and still the same problem. I'm sure it got nothing to do with my router/firewall since it always worked fine untill a few days ago. Anyone knows what can be the problem, since I'm stuck.     - MSN Messenger 7.5 Voice skewed Both computers have WindowsXP with SP2. Both running 7.5 downloaded the same day. Both using Norton Anti-Virus. One uses Earthlink high speed, the other uses a wireless router Broadband access. Other computer can hear my voice clear as a bell.     - Help with remote assistance I live in Michigan and am trying to help my inlaws in Florida by using remote assistance. We have done it before and it worked wonderful. They have got a new pc and have downloaded the new msn messenger but when they ask me for remote assistance and I accept, there is a long delay and then I get the following message: Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote host name could not be resolved.     - Internet connection disconnects with voice conversation Hi, I have recently noticed that when I try to have a voice conversation with one of my contacts on MSN Messenger, my internet connection automatically disconnects. The internet connection automatically disconnects when Messenger is trying to establish a connection for the voice conversation. I understand that your entire list would then have to download the emoticon in order for it to display properly, but how large are they, really? The emoticon I want to use in my name is less than 2kb (19x19,10 frames of animation)! Even a dialup user couldn't complain about that. A simple option to "disable automatic downloading of custom emoticons" would even eliminate the small portion of users concerned about that bandwidth use, and open up all sorts of avenues for customizing your MSN Messenger experience.     - MSN freezes on loading list of backgrounds. ver 7.0.0816. Upon opening the list of backgrounds set up on messenger, i click on one of the backgrounds (which i added from a file which hasn't been moved) MSN diddn't freeze but just the backgrounds window froze which meant that it wouldn't move or do anything else.     - msn messenger with UPnP problem? Hi MSN messenger works ok with UPnP turned on except when doing invitiation for applications like White Board, Application Sharing. It seems the IP-Address field of the ACCEPT message is not using the external IP which is returned by the SB server. Instead, it uses the private IP address if it's behind a NAT server. And the following SIP INVITE message will be sent to the private IP address which will be thrown away by the first router it hits. I was wondering if it's a MSN messenger bug or a bug of the UPnP device (gateway/NAT server). It looks more like a MSN bug because the external IP address is already in the profile message returned by the SB server. Why not use the external one? If using the private IP, why not use another header field: IP-Address_Internal? I would appreciate it if any one could give me an affirmative answer. I found earlier versions used to log me in and out on a regular basis which was annoying but any outage would be relatively short-lived. I tend to use the webcam sharing and voice in combination instead of videoconferencing because for some reason they use different codecs and the one for videoconferencing uses a sound codec that performs much worse than the voice conversation codec on my system.     - Booting PC and Messenger not signing in Hello. When my XP PC boots, Messenger never automatically signs in, and I have to click the sign in once the PC has fully booted. Is there any way that I can delay Messenger so that it doesn't try to sign in before the PC has fully booted and all other services have been started? I'm not sure, but it looks as though Zone Alarm has not fully loaded, and this is stopping Messenger from signing in - Is this possible? Thanks.     - Strange Sound Problem need some help please. up until a few weeks ago no probs with video conversations sound and cam fine. now with one of the people the sound i am recieveing is as if its been slowed down and dropped 2 octaves, cam still perfect though and they can see and hear me perfectly.     - 80048820 error again Guys, I know this error has been discussed a lot but I've got the same problema and I can't fix it. I've followed all the procedures mencionated here and it didn't work. I have Norton 2006 and I updated the MSN 7.5 when it ask me if I want to do so. After that I can't connect anymore. I've disabled the norton, also I changed its configuration option(program control) to allow all the action from MSN program, general rules and I desactivated de Windows messenger protector. When I try the MSN Messenger Connection Troubleshooter, the test results shows "Default gateway" - Your gateway appears to be offline. Basicly it was working fine before updating. I don't have norton CD instalation anymore and I don't want to uninstall it. What Should I do? Should I give up MSN Messenger and switch to Yahoo Messenger? Im using XP PRO SP 2, DSL connection. I am using messenger from exchange server, right now I found problem when
installing messenger 4.7 in 1 PC, the error message is "Signing In to
Microsoft Exchange Instant Messaging Failed Because the Service Is
Unavailable". I only found this error in 1 PC.
Does anyone can help to solve this problem ?
