A SERIOUS STUFF UP WITH BACKGROUNDS IN MSN 7

Apart from the fact MSN is like a virus that you cant get rid of. Im having
probs with the background in messenger 7 i have deleted some background that
i didn't like from the messenger. However they still apear in the selection
box when i go to click on them MSN freezes and nothing works leading me to
have to Ctrl, Alt, Del to get out of MSN only to have it happen all over
again when i log in and try to fix the prob.

solutions i have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling ( wont work becuase windows keeps the MSN
settings )
removing profiles from MSN ( wont work for reason above )
riped pieces oout of the MSN directory ( wont work because MSN fixes itself )

this thing is more like the terminator then a chat program. please tell me
how i can remove the backgrounds from the list without it freezing.

Try to do this:

1. Click "Start", and then click "Run".
2. Type %appdata%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger then press Enter.
3. You will see folder/s with numbers in the name. double click it and and
then double-click on the "Backgrounds" folder.
4. In the "Backgrounds" folder, delete the file "map.dat" file.

Let me know if the steps work.
