    - Sending messages fra Command Window Hi, does anybody know if it is possible to sende a message via MSN Messenger from the command window. The thought is to use this in a script to send messages of the status of the execution of the script.     - Grave MSN problem Windows messanger works fine, but... whenever i load msn messenger it shuts down my cpu, ive run scnadisk n fix, all spyware software and everything conceivable almost.     - MSN PROBLEM Hello, I am Prashant Varshney from India, I am having a problem with MSN Messenger 6.1 which I tried to solve by the suggestions given on askmarvin forum, but of no use. I'll briefly explain my computer setup We have a Peer to Peer connection of 5 computers through a 100 MBPS Switch. One computer has a USB modem installed that connects the net through ADSL connection. This computer (referred as computer A) has Win 2000 professional installed on it, as well as on the others, except for a laptop that has winXP home edition (preloaded). The IP address computer A is 192.168.0.1 whereas the other computers have a automatically generated IP address assigned by DCHP. Computer A has internet connection sharing enabled, by virtue of which we can browse the net on other computers also. Web surfing works fine except for few sites, reasons unknown to me, but MSN fails to start on the other computers, whereas it works fine on that particular machine (A). Also we have NAV 2003 installed on all the computers (I dont know whether it creates the problem). For mail we use Outlook express 6 which works fine.     - msn messenger 6.1 and linksys I recently installed a wireless B BEFW11S4 v.4 linksys router for my friend and I. Msn messenger keeps reconnecting and disconnecting both of us at the same time, everytime one person logs into their computer.     - MSN Messenger - Audio I recently enabled UPnP on my router for audio conversations and have been up and going for about 2 to 3 days holding several conversations with family and friends. However, during the last successful conversation my internet connection dropped and I have been unable to start another audio conversation since, even though my internet connection came right back up.     - msn says server not available problems started when I uninstalled eztrust antivirus/firewall. I started having internet connection issues with comcast. Couldn't figure it out, luckily enough system restore did it for me. After I uninstalled eztrust this time the internet was working just fine. A few of my games, and messenger didn't recognize that an active connection was available. I upgraded to sp2 figuring that would do it. no changes at all. I made sure that the necessary ports/programs were specified in windows firewall, I even shut it down to see if it was a firewall issue. no luck. Currently I can connect with a few of my games, IE has no problems. Some of my games (all of them are blizzard) won't connect, and MSN Messenger won't as well. What should I try?     - Messenger error code 0x81000370 & hotmail error Hi, I am having a messenger error code 0x81000370. I tried to sign in last night & couldn't. It just comes up with that error. I also cannot sign into hotmail to check my emails. When I go to the sign in page, I can type in my email addy & password, then I hit enter & a 'this page cannot be displayed' comes up.     - Alerts problem: NET Passport service is currently unavailable I have two computers, both running Windows XP, SP2, both with MSN Messenger 6.2. On one, everything is fine. On the other, however, when I click on the Alerts tab in MSN Messenger, I get the dreaded "The .NET Passport service is currently unavailable..." message. It's bogus, of course, since it works fine on the computer right behind me. Here's what I've tried so far: 1. Completely uninstalled MSN Messenger and deleted the corresponding registry entries; rebooted, and reinstalled MSN Messenger 6.2. Still broken. 2. Went into IE and cleared the cache and cookies. Still broken. 3. Reset all Privacy and Security settings to the Default. 4. I have Norton A/V 2004. I turned it off. Still broken. 5. I turned off the Windows Firewall (which does, by the way, have an exception for MSN Messenger 6.2) Nothing [so far] has any effect. On the problem computer, when I use Windows Messenger, instead of MSN Messenger, the Alerts tab there works fine. I suspect the problem is somehow connected with MS IE. Here's why. Using MS IE, I navigate to http://alerts.msn.com/Alerts/Default.aspx?lcid=1033,then try to continue by clicking on Manage Alerts, it gives me the "NET Passport service is currently unavailable" screen, identical to what I see in MSN Messenger. However, if I use a different browser, such as Foxfire, I don't get that error. Instead, it works perfectly. The question is... What has happened to MS IE such that it's no longer cooperating with the Alerts tab? Note: two other tabs are similarly broken: CNBC and "See your local Traffic Forecast and Gas prices..."     - can't send/recieve files! Running MSN messenger 6.2 on a XP SP2 client, UPnP is enabled. I'm going through a Linksys BEFSR41v3 router with 1.05.00 firmware that also has UPnP enabled. I can chat fine, but can't send or receive any files on Messenger. My linksys shows up in Network Places automatically so you'd think UPnP is working, but when I check the connection settings in Messenger under Advanced Connection Information, it says 'You are connected to the Internet through a non-UPnP IP restricted NAT.'     - No automatic logon I´m using MSN Messenger 6.2 on Win 98SE. Sice I updated from 5.X to 6.2 it does not log on automaticly. All my settings should be correct.     - MSN Messenger Audio Problem I'm having a problem with audio chat. Audio chat was working in Windows Messenger that came with XP. But I have a webcam and wanted video messenger, so I had to upgrade to MSN Messenger 6.2. Now audio chat doesn't work. I've run the audio/video setup wizzard, the camera, mic and speakers are all fully responsive. Video chat works -- silent, but the webcam picture goes through fine. Audio chat works in both directions if I'm using "Remote Assistance" and the other party initiates it (but not if I try to initiate it). However, MSN Messenger chat doesn't work, no matter which party tries to initiate it. I click on Audio, the bar graphs and volume controls appear, it says "connecting", and then after maybe 1-2 minutes (during which there is no audio), it says the audio session has been terminated. There is no response on the bar graph to talking into the mic, and no sound coming through from the other end. Anyone have any ideas? I had removed Messenger 4.x that came with XP (didn't see a reason to have two messengers), tried reinstalling that, but it didn't chance anything (and it didn't work under that version either). any assistance would be apprciated.     - Eagerly awaited SP2 to fix voice probs I lost count of how long I have waited for SP2, because I was told that it would address my voice problems, and many others too, I am not alone. OK. SP2 now installed. Trying once again. Here is the deal, when trying to talk with a friend, I can hear him, my meter moves for me when I talk, but he cannot hear me (both in California about 90 miles apart). Trying with another friend, she accepts, I see "connecting to so & so", and it never completes the connection, saying the remote computer is experiencing problems after it eventually aborts. (She cross country). I am behind a Netgear router. My 1st friend who cannot hear me & I hear him, is also behind a Netgear router. My second friend who we cannot even connect voice, I do not think is behind a router, but I could be mistaken. Also I've tried Windows Messenger with the 1st friend too, (he still using MSN) and get the "connecting to so & so", but it never does connect voice and eventually aborts. Now - if anyone tells me, especially now with SP2 here, that I have to do this & that & this & enable this port or that port, I am going to puke my guts. How many millions of people are behind routers now in a little home network? With more each day joining the club. I just read over 50% of Americans are now on broadband, so routers are becoming very common in households. I have absolutely no voice or video problems with Yahoo Messenger. 6I never have had any. I am guessing 6 months or so ago I was told in one of these NGs by what I remember as some official looking name for a Microsoft guy, that SP2 would handle this stuff differently & all would be fine. Well I now have SP2 and the same ol' sh*t.. My friends I am talking about - we're all Yahoo Messenger people now. I do not understand what the problem is with Microsoft on this one thing here. Firewall shmirewall,, I honestly do not think that is it. But even if it is, I should not have to do anything to fix it. How can a company like Yahoo out-do Bill Gates like this? Yea my main chat client is now Yahoo Messenger, but I still would like to get this resolved. We use MSN Messenger for files transfers, because in this it is superior to Yahoo Messenger for this.     - Error 1603 on new install of XP Hi, I just finished formatting my hard drives and re-installing XP Pro. I have downloaded and installed all the Win Updates up until SP2, and everything has run very smoothly. However when I try and install MSN Messenger (6.2) it gets well into the install process before error'ing, with the final message saying 'Error 1603, go install from the MSN site..." etc. I've been trying to use any suggestions out there since this problem seems to be rampant with few or no cures. I noticed that another tech support person on this forum asked for a 'copy' of the Wins Error Report, so I thought I'd just post it here right away. p.s I have no firewall (besides router) or antivirus software running yet and nothing else installed. I've used MSN messenger on this comp for several years without issues.     - *** MSN Messenger - audio problem *** I had some problems with WinXP - related to WinExplorer and OE - after some assistance by MS Tech support the problems were resolved however I cannot make use of the audio feature in Messenger.     - Trouble getting to e-mail through Messenger I'm running XP SP1 and Messenger 6.2. I have a Passport account with Hotmail set up and have successfully received and read e-mail through the e-mail link in Messenger in the past. Starting today when I click on the e-mail link Internet Explorer opens up, goes to the URL https://loginnet.passport.com/ppsecure/md5auth.srf? lc=1033, and displays a blank page. Similar situation if I go to http://www.hotmail.com and sign in. I had a problem today with my browser being hijacked by the about:blank hijack and I've since cleaned that up. But I can't see anything in the cleanup that would be causing this behavior. I have checked various Internet Options in the browser (including looking at the Security tab to make sure SSL 2.0 and 3.0 are enabled and Check for server certification revocation is disabled). I've also verified that I can get to the e-mail account from other computers. Any thoughts on what may be causing my Hotmail woes? The problem is that I can always view the other guys webcam but they, even when they accept my invitation, can never connect to my webcam.     - Messenger Client not updating (via Exchange) I've got a strange status update problem with Exchange Instant Messaging Client 4.6.0084 using Exchange 2000 Instant Messaging Service. I have three users logged into the same Win2K Citrix Server (XPe FR3). All have each other listed as a contact but each one sees a different status for the other users. for example; Situation 1: User 1 is logged on, and User 2 sees them as online but User 3 sees them as offline. Situation 2: User 2 logs off but remains online in User 1's Messenger, even after 1 hr. User 1 can open a dialog with User 2, when they send a message they receive the 'can not deliver message' errors but User 2 remains online in their Messenger window. Well if you're wondering if the people on your contact list are active or not, I'd simply
suggest right-clicking on their name, choose "Send E-mail" and write them an email to see
what's up.
